I was charged $249 for a repair of the retracting hose. The repair guy accused me of vacuuming a wet carpet, initially, which I didn't and told him so. It took him all of 5 minutes to repair the hose, and he practically ran to the front door to leave. I then asked him to check the cannister or anything else while he was there. He checked the cannister only then asked for payment. Garys vacuflo was fantastic. It's now vacuflo NW. Don't waste your money here. They never answer the phone, or return your calls. Never again. I've called everyday for a call back. No response. Don't get ripped off by thinking this the old Garys vacuflo. Far from it. read more

My built in vacuum had very weak suction. I called Gary's Vacuflo. That was the same company that installed it 22 years ago. Mike was the repair man that came out, exactly as scheduled. Got it all straightened out in a short time, checked the other ports and we are good. Very respectful of our house (took his shoes off, cleaned everything up). Also checked the carpet sweeper attachment. All good for a very reasonable price! Highly recommend if you have internal vacuum system. read more

I drove 30 minutes to get to Garys Vacuflo to purchase two new sets of handles/parts and a new 50' hose for my in house vacuum system that Gary's installed many years ago. There were no other customers there. There was a (not helpful) lady behind a wall and a young man helping me. After figuring out what I needed, he went in the back room to get it and I sat and waited. He had to stop helping me and unload a truck. Then their computers are not working so he had to hand write my order. Other interruptions.... There is a sign on a counter saying that they will charge 3.5% if you don't have cash and a second sign with their Zelle info. I had no idea how much this stuff was going to cost - almost $1000. Who carries that much cash with them to get vacuum parts?! So I scan their Zelle code and try to send the $ but since they are new to my Zelle, there is a $500 limit set by the bank. Fine. I'll put the rest on a card. Send the Zelle and hand them my CC. But since they are new to my Zelle, the payment only shows as pending. The young man calls the owner and puts him on speaker. He says that he doesn't see any payment. I've now been there 1 1/2 hours. I've reached my limit. The owner guy says that I can just cancel the Zelle and put it all on the CC. He's sounding like he thinks I'm trying to rip him off. I'm waaay too pissed off at this point. I've had to cancel a meeting and am late to my next stop. I stormed out of there and drove to my bank and had them cancel/confirm that the Zelle was cancelled. At that point I had wasted 4 hours just trying to buy products from them. I will go Fred Flintstone and vacuum with a mastodon before I will ever do business with them again. I wish I could leave negative stars. read more

Up til now I've enjoyed great service...received a flyer in the mail for 20*point Tune-up and when I called was informed that they no longer provide service in my area (Grapeview, WA between Belfair and Shelton) and provided me a contact for Vac Express who (supposedly) services my area out of Federal Way, WA. I phoned Vac Express and was told unless there was something super wrong (ie they could charge me a lot of $) they would not come out and service/tune-up my central vac. WOW! Well, I finally was able to get out to Gary's Vacuflo in Portland on Tuesday the 4th. I have an older Vacuflo 460 that didn't have the wall mount bracket. There were just 3 holes in the drywall. Jeff immediately asked how he could help me and I mentioned my problem of a missing wall bracket. I wasn't sure if they still stocked this item because the Vacuflo is older. He said they did and went into the back to see if they had one in stock. They did and he explained how to install the bracket with either wall anchors or plywood attached to the wall studs. They also had a nice selection of accessories (i.e. candy store) for your Vacuflo. The whole interaction was very personable and professional. And I received a pretty good deal on the bracket also. Called Gary, he flew down, picked him up at the airport and inspected the house. Got a materials list, installed it myself. What great service and caring. We have installed 3 VacuFlo's in 3 different homes since 1999. I loved the first 2 but this 3rd one is just not what I expected. We had it installed in the wall & that was a mistake. I didn't think about the dust & dirt that would cling to the hose every time it goes in & out. This one is just cheaper with the metal tube or plastic that attaches to the hose. It comes apart with the slightest resistance when vacuuming. The people are great to work with, the product just seems to be loosing it's quality. read more

Called 3 times over several hours today just to get ahold of the parts department for a hose replacement. Spoke with at least 6 different switchboard people, who apparently aren't on-site, and never did get parts department or anyone who could tell me anything. Tried to get direct line phone number for any of their metro location stores, to no avail. I live about 30 miles from Portland, so I'm not going to drive all the way over there without checking on parts first. About the most annoying phone system I've ever encountered. Wish there was another source for Vacuflo parts! read more

We finally installed a central vacuum system in our 1994 pre-plumbed house. To our surprise, when we went in the crawl space we found the pre-plumbing was incomplete. As we called around for options, Gary' Vacuflo confirmed they were the ones who pre-plumbed our system and found that the prior owners had requested a full installation. We were shocked when they agreed to complete the system at no cost, even though it was 12 years later. Brogan came out today and was great. He quickly installed, tested and left us very happy. I'm surprised no one has written anything about these guys. First of all Central vac is awesome and if you ever have the opportunity to install it you will not be disappointed. This dealer in particular is very professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. If you have any problems with attachments Dave in the Flavel shop is the master. He will get everything figured out and fixed fast and if he can free(if its a warrenty issue) He is great at letting you know if the problem is something he can take care of in the shop so you will not have to pay the high house call visits. read more

Gary's Vacuflo service technician visited my house today & I am so glad I called them. Turns out my central vac had been venting onto my A/C unit since the house was built in 1999. We just bought this house, & I have been getting all sorts of things checked out. The technician told me he could fix it easily so the unit vents away from my a/c unit outside. He checked everything thoroughly & taught me how to clean the system. I will definitely call them again in a couple of years just so that they can check out the system again. This review is for the Beaverton location. I dismantled the electric nozzle on my vacuflo hose to remove a clog and was unable to put it back together in working order. I took it into the shop, and the guy cleaned it up a bit, checked the connections, and explained to me how to do it correctly when I got home. (You have to connect the hose first before putting the nozzle back on and hadn't brought the hose with me.) It didn't take long, but he didn't charge me for his time or try to sell me anything. He was just friendly and helpful. There was parking right at the front door and the shop is clean. When I need service or parts, I will definitely be back. read more

I purchased a central vac system from Gary's last year. Works great, but I vacuumed up a large staple with the powerhead and it jammed . After trying to fix it I found I needed some expertise. Blaine from Gary's came out to my house-- I purchased this place a year ago--at a very good price but just about all the systems in the house had been abused/broken and were in some state of disrepair. Blaine was great. He called on his way, was on time, was a great representative for Gary's. We installed a central vacuum system in our pre-plumbed house in 2009. From the start Gary's has been wonderful. When the unit was installed, they took the time to explain how all the attachments work and showed me how small maintenance tasks can keep the system working smoothly. I have two small children so this system in heavily used. Over the years, when I've had questions, they've helped me diagnosis problems over the phone, repaired components for me when they malfunctioned (can you say legos, legos, legos) and have tuned up my heavily used attachments. We love central vac. Couldn't imagine using an ordinary vac like some kind of caveman. Used Gary's twice in the last 15 years to install central vac systems in new construction. The first time, around 2001, they did fine. System worked well, properly sized and priced. The second time (2010) was awful. FAR more expensive per sqft, underpowered, and the accessories are garbage. When we had a vac extension handle break after only a year, Gary's offered to sell us another of the exact same poorly designed device for full retail price. We've had failures in the carpet head and the hardwood floor head as well. Each time, they did nothing. And I know we're not particularly hard on them, because we had similar devices in our first house (though earlier, better-designed models) and they worked well. So basically Gary's doesn't stand behind their products in our experience. read more

September 2015 visit- can't recommend the in home servicing. For $160 the only thing they did was fix the turbocat vaccum appliance and empty the bin. They didnt fix the on/off switch nor did they provide a new hose or hose sleeve. I expected more. read more

Fantastic service. Recently had them install a central vac in our new home and they did a good job. A month later they called to see if we were happy with the system or had any questions (I should add that they are the only company who has taken the time to ask us how we like the product they installed). As it was I had been struggling with it so I explained the problem. She promised to relay the problem to her boss. Much to my surprise he later called me and suggested an upgraded part that would solve the problem I was having and he offered it to us at a huge discount because he wanted us to be happy with the system. Their service guy, Dave, came out today and quickly installed the upgraded part to our system then he took the time to make sure I understood how to operate the system and change the bags. I wish all the contractors we have had to deal with during our new home build were as professional and customer service friendly as Gary's Vacuflo. read more
