I called three other places with higher ratings and the highest charge was 79 dollars to come out and diagnose AND if I decided to have them service my appliance the 79 dollars would be deducted from the total price for service. This was not the case with AAA appliances. After reading the other reviews it seems like they are one of the more expensive companies around. I went with another company and had no issues with service and spent a little under what AAA was going to charge just to drive to my house. read more

I am a curmudgeon. Businesses or products rarely get 5 stars or even 4 stars from me. If they do their job they get maybe 3 stars because that is what is expected. But I have to say, I was knocked over and in awe of AAA Appliance. Yes it cost me a fair amount of money to get my refrigerator fixed but it was half the price of a new one. AAA Appliance was professional, I was notified of the appointments a day before and a hour before and the tech, Cory, was always on time and in several cases early. I would never recommend or use them again. I called and asked if they worked on down draft vents and they said yes. $126 for service call and diagnostics and then if I had them do the repairs the return trip would be just the labor to install. Cory was very polite at first. He identified the problem as a bad circuit board and limit switch. He said they would call with an estimate. About an hour later they called to say the part were obsolete. I told them I would look for them. Within an hour I had found both parts. I called and scheduled the return trip. About a half hour before the appointment they called and said I would need to pay the service charge fee again plus the install labor $126 plus $226. When Cory arrived I asked him about paying the service call fee when they told me I would not have to pay it a second time. He said you didn't buy the part from me so I need to charge the service call. I told him you were not able to get the parts so I did...he basically said tough. I told him it did not seem fair and the it was deceiving to say one thing and then do another. He got into a huff and said are you questioning my integrity? I am out of here...I really didn't want to work on this anyway. He took off pretty fast....So my review says don't trust these guys and don't use them...you will be asking for trouble. read more

I was outrageously overcharged for the repair of my GE refrigerator which took two hours to install a new defrost heater and timer. The parts were charged at $$366 that retail directly from GE @$166.13 (over a 100% mark-up) while the labor and diagnostic fee came to $930.90 (roughly a $500 an hour rate) after a 10% discount for seniors. Total bill was $1296.90 almost enough to buy a new GE @ $1499. If I had known that the repairman worked only on a flat rate that he quoted after he emptied my freezer and refrigerator and left me with little choice but to proceed, I would never have hired this company. To top it off, a month later the refrigerator had the same problem, not getting lower than 60 degrees. My regular repairman has now corrected the problem due to the incorrect installation of the heater. Buyer beware. Learn by my mistake. read more

Horrible customer service, lady acted like she did us a favor by showing up for work just to be unprofessional and very rude. Service guy, could not identify the leaking problem so he replaced the soap dispenser because it was cracked. Charged over 500.00 and appliance continued to leak! I recently had a leaking refrierator from the water dispenser. I was desparate to have this fixed because it was a strong leak where we had to turn our water off to the house. The good news, is the issue was fixed very promptly. Unfortunately it was $800+ dollars for a service that took less than 60 minutes and the part was only a valve. I feel that I was taken advantage of because the knew that I needed to get this fixed on a Friday otherwise my water would be off all weekend. I have used this business three or four times over the past two year's and felt they were maybe overpriced but they were always very friendly. This last week I called about a heating element for my dryer. I was quoted 175.00 price for the part I needed. Decided to do some research and called all around Portland to price search and compare price and part manafucture, after several hours and on the phone with other appliance stores in town is thIs. AAA appliance marks up their parts 100% and think their costumers are too stupid to figure it out. I found the exact same part at stores all over town from 80 - 90 dollars and exact same manufacturer. We are disappointed with the amount we were charged, not with the technician per se. The company is professional, courteous and capable. However, we were under the impression that as part of the trip charge and diagnostic fee they would troubleshoot the problem and explain the issue along with the cost to repair. In our case it was user error; we had not read the manual correctly. They explained how to operate the unit and then charged us the additional minimum $120 labor fee. The explanation took 3-5 minutes. It seems ridiculous to charge $120 for a 5-minute explanation. It just seems like the decent thing to do would be to explain the sequence of buttons as part of the trip and diagnostic fee. It is similar to calling the TV repairman and after he discovered that the unit was not plugged in, explained to you how to plug it in and then charged you $120 for that explanation (flat fee, not prorated for actual time spent). In their defense, their web site does indicate that the $120 repair fee is a flat rate, no proration, but an explanation on how to use an appliance is hardly a repair. They even indicated that their work came with a warranty. That is like adding insult to injury. Over the years I have found it very difficult to find reputable appliance repair companies (except for GE appliances where you can call GE repair, who is very reputable) in Portland, so the fact that this company seems to be reputable in terms of their capabilities is a good thing, I just wish they would be more humane in their pricing. The other complaints I see here regarding multiple trips and not coming with the part on their first trip is understandable as it is unreasonable to expect them to purchase a part based on a customer's explanation; they have to diagnose the problem themselves. Bottom LIne, expect to pay $285 for them to come to your house. $165 to troubleshoot and another $120 to explain the problem to you and order the parts and then return for a minimum of $120 to perform the repair. read more

NEVER give AAA any of your business!!! They don't stand behind their product at all. I called to get a stove switch and drove over to their location, when I paid for the switch they said I had to drive to another location to pick up the part. They sent me to Reliable Appliance Parts at 11439 SE Foster Road to pickup the part from their "warehouse". These companies are not related. Had the new switch in about 10 days and the switch mount broke off as the part was defective. Called AAA and they said "tough luck", we don't warranty parts at all and you'll have to buy another. I just went direct to Reliable Appliance Parts and told them the story and they gave me a discount because AAA handled it so poorly. Reliable Appliance provides a 90 day warranty on parts so use them and NOT AAA Appliance. read more

The timer on my five year old dryer stopped working. Called AAA for a service call and was given an appointment several days out. So far so good. They gave a courtesy call the day before the appointment to remind us they were coming and they called about a half hour before the service guy got there. Cory showed up, asked for a description of the problem, and performed a few tests and was able to confirm we needed a new timer (which was what I thought we would need). Cory was on the ball enough to have a timer on hand and in quick order had the defective unit out and the replacement in and was doing a quick test to make sure it worked (which it did). He explained what he did and why in a manner I could easily understand. They gave me a senior discount, which is still hard for me to accept Im a senior now, but what can I do? Quick turn around. Very expensive and their pricing logic doesn't make sense. Flat fee to come out & diagnose (understandable), then a per hour fee for labor (understandable), then a fee for parts if needed (understandable).. so when the tech comes, fixes my dishwasher in under 1/2 hour with no parts needed and the bill is $266 I'm confused, call to clarify and am told that "it depends on the job"... isn't that the labor/per hour fee? I give them 2 stars for quick turn around; perhaps that's the case because they don't have many customers due to their "whatever way the wind blows" fee? read more

Great Customer Service and Knowledgeable Staff Tried a do it myself dryer repair and was given excellent advice and quickly received my parts. When the project went sideways they were out on Saturday morning bright and early to get us back up and able to conquer the mountain of laundry. Technician advised that in his experience after solving problem A usually problem B occurs. Indeed just a few loads later we had problem B. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! AAA Appliance was hired by a realtor to fix a cooktop (the burners wouldn't light) in the home we were purchasing. They came out and serviced the cooktop on Jul 17th of 2013 (the seller's had already moved out) and we moved in on Aug 17th of 2013. The cooktop appeared to be working fine the few times we used it and then stopped working on September 1 of 2013. We got the receipt from the realtor that states their is a 90 day guarantee on parts and labor and we called to ask them to come re-fix it. The tech that answered the phone was the one that serviced our cooktop and told me he found it hard to believe it just stopped working. After they made me troubleshoot a number of items and it still wasn't working, they finally came out. The tech replaced the transformer an then asked if there had been any power outages, anybody messing with the circuit breaker, etc. When we answered no to everything, he said it must have been a boil over that fried the transformer so that was "misuse" and we were going to have to pay for the part. My husband told him we would not pay for it because it was guaranteed. The tech then started yelling at my husband and became physically threatening. My husband told him to pack up and leave. The tech said the new part would not be warrantied. I called AAA to complain and they didn't seem to care that their employee was threatening one of their customers in their own home. Now, 2 days after they "fixed" the cooktop, it isn't working again. I am not sure what they think they did to fix it but it has yet to actually be fixed. read more

They have worked on this particular unit now 2 times since 2014 and again I need it serviced. They are insisting that I come up with a physical purchase receipt from August 2014 When Their company should have on file because they previously came out and serviced the same unit September 19 of 2014 as well as February 23, 2017 under the warranty manufacture. When talking with a Gail she was rude and unprofessional. I will never return and will make sure everyone I know doesnt use them and will never refer. Fixed a leaking washer. One guy made himself at home at our dining room table without asking while waiting for the other to finish. Left the laundry room window open and screen removed. Used our bath towel that was in the dryer and our clean dish towels to wipe the floor, leaving them in a filthy wet pile. Charged $266 for less than one hour of "service." read more

I feel very taken advantage of by this company. My dishwasher door had a broken cable that needed to be replaced. This 2 person team charged me $413.00 for a call and labor that took under 30 minutes. One guy worked on the repair and the other guy gave the estimate and then just stood there and watched the work. After they left-I felt totally scammed-I should not have approved for them to do the work-my mistake. After talking to another appliance repair company-I found out that parts and labor for this very minor repair should have been in the $175.00 range. Cory and Harmony were both very friendly and great to deal with. Even when I called and said that the parts they sold me were wrong Harmony listened to me and was polite, later I discovered they were the right parts.... But above all else I believe they cared about me getting what I needed that was not only best for me but also the cheapest route. I called Cory and he took time to tell me that my current dishwasher was still top of the line and that it would be better for me to just buy a new and updated motor, not spend the 700 on a new dishwasher that would do the same thing. After only spending 146 dollars my dishwasher is not only very quiet but it also does a fantastic job. If you are willing to take the time to learn how to fix your own possessions this is the team you want on your side, it is rare to find a salesman that sells you what is best for you and not what makes them the most money. I just had these people work on my washer. Cory the young man was amazing! Knew these newer washers inside out. Knew exactly how to fix it. My only complaint was the price of the service. A service call, labor, two hoses and a small part was $625 ! I could almost buy a new one for that cost. To me this was outrageous! They did a great job but call for a quote first ! Another guy came along, nice but only quoted me a finished price. They left to get parts and interesting how the price jumped nearly $50 after they returned. Worst customer service we have ever received. Had a part installed and two weeks after installation it no longer worked. The tech came out to look at the problem and said it was our fault and that their 90 day warranty wouldn't cover it. I told them I wouldn't pay and the tech got aggressive and started yelling, told him to not raise his voice in my house and get a manager on the phone. He said didn't need to do that because his company would never want to do business with me again. After he left my wife called to talk to his boss and she got the same response from him. This is by far the worst customer service I have ever received from a company and can't believe that the owner would allow for his employees to treat people in this fashion. Was only looking for a part and saw the load of bull ony explaination regarding a "CO2 Flush" Hilfrieckenlarious! Auh... ladies and gentleman... A "CO2 flush" is some monkey spraying air on the crap that collects on the coils because there's a fan sucking the crap in. Do it yourself. Pull out your refer and clean back there. You'll see it. Save your self a ripoff charge. Think of this charge as a "undercoating" your car salesman tries to sell you. Dirt and crap build up will cause your refrigeration to fail so....... Clean it. I was in dire need of a dryer element, especially after the July 4th holiday weekend. Talk about laundry day! I saw some reviews here that made me wary of AAA but my first impression has definitely been turned around. I started calling first thing on the 5th in desperation and got multiple quotes on the part. I called AAA last. Charlene answered and checked that the part was in stock. There was 1 left. She quoted $67, which was $1 more than the part with their competitor. The other store was also closer. I decided to go with the other store. She nicely asked if I'd like her to set it aside. I told her no, I'm planning to buy elsewhere, when she knocked down the price $10, making AAA the lowest price quoted in my area. Of course I jumped on it. We have a 8 year old Kitchenaid built in refrigeration freezer side by side which cost over $8,000 new. It was not working properly and we called AAA and they sent out a technician who looked at it and said it needed to have the motherboard repaired. The motherboard was no longer manufactured, he explained, and the cost of repair would be $1,500 in addition to the a $147 service charge. They would remove the motherboard and send it to the repair facility and install it after it was repaired. He also informed us that the problem was a fire hazard and that it had to be taken care of right away. He didn't check anything except the motherboard and we paid his service charge. We called another service to get a second opinion. After two trips, they provided us with a form to be sent in to the repair facility along with the motherboard. The total charge for repair of the board was $120.98 which included the cost of shipping it back to us. When it arrived, the service man replaced it and the frig works fine. The total cost of 3 trips made by the service man was less than $140. He also informed us that he had never seen a repair charge anywhere near $1500. read more

While the appliance I needed servicing was repaired, the bill was astronomical! $600 for the replacement of a small part and two hoses to my clothes washer!! Shortly thereafter, I had the dryer needing servicing. I called another repair shop who charged much less and that including replacing the major circuit board. When I showed the second repair man AAA's invoice and what they done, he said he was embarrassed by them because they seem to be overcharging and I wasn't the first that brought this to his attention.
