Purchased a brand new gas stove that was advertised as new in box, but with scratch and dent details. Paid $2,000 and was told it would be warrantied by the business if when hooked up there was any issues. As soon as the product was connected to gas, a strong leak was detected from the back of the gas stove connection on the unit itself. I immediately called B & R and they took zero accountability or responsibility for the issue. They stated I must then go through the manufacture's warranty to have the issue addressed. Basically they just took my money, sold me a faulty product, and then pushed it back on me to fix with the warranty company directly - which I did not have time or energy for. It took several calls to the warranty company, appointments, the rescheduling of appointments because their tech team couldn't make it out, ordering or parts with follow-up appointments to finally fix the issue. It was over the course of 2 months that I finally was able to have a working gas stove - what I had originally paid for and was promised from the beginning. B & R basically wiped their hands clean from the moment the product left their store. Would never trust them or buy from them again. read more

I bought a used Decor oven for $5,000 from B and R. The first time I used the oven it didn't stay at temperature. I called them to fix it. They came out twice and replaced a couple of the parts. This fix did not work. They asked me to call another repair person to look at it. They recommended a new motherboard. B and R ordered this it took 8 months to get the part. They sent someone out to install it. It still didn't work. They were very hard to get in touch with. They did not return phone calls. They refused to give me a refund after waiting over a year for them to fix it. They said they would need to have the oven back at their shop to work on it. I paid to have it delivered back to them well over a year ago and I have not heard from them since. I have called several times and left messages with no response. I wasted $6,000 dealing with them. Bought a used freezer for the garage. It would freeze up nicely, then randomly stop working - very intermittent, which resulted in lots of wasted food. They sent a repair person out twice to adjust the door/seal and look at the parts, the problem (and the wasted food) continued. I ended up having to pay someone else to haul it away and recycle it. Complete scam, as the freezer never worked, and they stopped returning my calls after they couldn't fix it. If I could give negative stars I would. Stay away scammers. 1.) Found a washer and dryer set, sales guy says $799 then wanders off. 2.) Dude shows back up 15 minutes later and says yeah this one how about $899. I don't argue with him fine $899 it's still a decent deal for a "new scratch n dent washer" and a "refurbished" dryer. 3.) It gets delivered and setup washer starts making a horrible grinding sound. They say they will send out a repair man. They cancel the original appointment and put it out for another day. 4.) They tell me they are replacing it with the same unit. It's not the same unit it's 1cu ft smaller washing area has less features, but it's newer? 5.) The washer gets here cool. 6.) Wash 4 loads of laundry the dryer stops working. It will heat up, but it no longer spins. Cool broken belt whatever. 7.) Call them tell them what's going on. 8.) They have me run some tests does it heat spin freely etc. 9.) Discover the dryer not only doesn't spin, but they didn't connect the dryer vent. 10.) It's the weekend cool repairman cannot come in until Tuesday fine whatever. 11.) Tuesday shows up repair guy never shows. 12.) I get a voicemail 15 minutes before the end of their arrival time saying they needed to reschedule. 13.) This is my bad I read the voice to text on VM and just figured they would show up the next day. 14.) I call to see what time they are showing up, guy says they can't come until next Monday. 15.) Annoyed finally I say really. 16.) The guy starts yelling at me 17.) I explain to the guy everything and his response is don't insult me? I literally never insulted him just explained the situation. 18.) All of my phone calls are recorded if you would like to hear how these people treat their customers message me I'll send you the recording. My daughter purchased a dryer from there" used" with the warranty to bring it back if it didn't work, well it didn't come with the plug-in so I had to purchase a plug-in which you know those aren't cheap, and it still wasn't working, no heat, so we had to bring the dryer all the way back in to have them look at it to try and fix it because that is how they work, she couldn't just get a full refund! ... well they couldn't fix it and so instead of getting a full refund, mind you, this is 2 days later, she couldn't get the full amount back neither could she get the plug-in that we purchased for $30.00 attached to it or the money off for the plug-in and she had to pay a restocking the dryer cost 350 used supposedly that included the purchased part as well, which I highly doubt! They didn't pay me for gas to get it, or the price charged for the maintenance to place it on the dryer!!!They are shady & they will take advantage wherever they can... we should be charging them for gas having to bring it back there since it was their crappy dryer that they sold anyways, so buyer beware not a good place to do business with. If I could give zero stars I would. This place is not only dark, dank and filthy, it is a complete rip off. I was looking for an upright freezer, which is next to impossible to find currently. B&R had two freezers available. A small one for about $700. and a 25 cuf freezer for $1399., plus $100. delivery fee. The 25 cuf retails for $899. When I shared this with the gentleman helping me, he indicated "freezers are difficult to find now." This is price gouging at it's best. I wish there were more stars to give. I would give ten if I could. These guys do things that nobody else can. My SW Portland home was built in 1962. Up until a few years ago it still had the original oven; an odd-sized, extra small unit that isn't widely made anymore. A new version of the same make would not fit, and would be a special order nightmare, costing thousands. I didn't want to raid my 401-K for an oven that I didn't use very often, but then again, you really need an oven sometimes. What to do? I had driven past B&R a number of times but never gone inside. When I did, I found the staff to be very helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. I explained my situation and they listened carefully. I provided the oven's unusual measurements and the gentleman said, "Yes, we have just what you need." He proceeded to show me a very gently used but practically new model of an oven that would perfectly fit my unusual little space. "We can install it for you tomorrow," he said. The price was well within my budget, thank goodness, and I agreed. That oven has worked perfectly for me for at least five years now, and I couldn't be happier. More recently, over the summer of 2019, my 20 year old washing machine finally broke down for the last time. I had successfully repaired it myself a couple of years earlier, and had taken advantage of B&R's parts department to find an unusual, discontinued part I needed for the old machine. But this last time it was not worth fixing, unfortunately, and I had little choice but to seek a new one. Research online showed that the best rated machine was an LG model. The best price I could find locally was triple my budget. Worse, since I run an Airbnb in my home, I really needed a working washer right away. I didn't have time to wait for a sale or run all over town shopping around. Luckily, it was summer, and my neighbor let me use their washer for a few days while I attempted to self-repair my old machine and otherwise figure things out. Again I turned to B&R, but this time I didn't dare hope that they could help. I explained my predicament and my preferences. It turns out that LG also makes machines for another manufacturer, and my preferred machine was essentially a clone of another, much less expensive brand. (This kind of inside information is not something that you can easily learn online, and salespeople at appliance stores don't or won't bother to tell you.) The B&R team were able to deliver and install the new (to me) machine the next day, getting me out of a major bind while simultaneously saving me a substantial amount of money. B&R sold me a slightly used machine for about 1/4 the cost of a new one. And it has more bells and whistles than I could reasonably hope for. I've now been using this machine almost every day for my business for the better part of a year, and I remain delighted with the purchase. It has an amazing 20-minute clean cycle that has cut my turnover time in half for my Airbnb, saving me time and money. AND, it does an outstanding job in every other way, using less water and energy, as well, while cleaning better than my old machine. It also has several other wash cycle settings. The gentlemen at B&R are smart, honest and reliable. I have nothing but praise for them; they have saved me potentially thousands of dollars over the last few years. read more

I was sold a Electric Stove-Oven by Rhiad that had to be clean which delayed the pick-up from my Handyman. When Kenmore glass top was sold the oven did not work. The advertisement said the unit was in "good" condition. FASLSE ADVERTISING. Rhiad offered to repair the faulty unit for $150 the service call while the warranty was in effect. Their warranty requires customers to return the appliance to their shop. I already paid a delivery charge, and now Rhiad is offering for me to pay another delivery charge and to have the appliance fixed to work as advertise. I requested evidence of a test report that shows that the unit was tested - Rhiad said they have no proof of testing. We are an elderly disabled couple with a kitchen full of elderly disabled appliances. We had no need for new appliances that would outlive us. Not being able to get out "shopping" we called B&R and explained our situation. Riad came to our home within hours - saw our needs - took measurements - then he texted pictures of in-store appliances that would meet our requirements. We made our selections (new & used) and installations began within a few days along with hauling our old appliances off to the appliance cemetery. Now, we have a functioning kitchen again; at very reasonable prices; and we didn't need to leave our home! Do not use B & R discount appliances!! I'm only writing this so that people don't have the same experience I have had. I paid for a washing machine and $125 for an install and they forgot to put the plug in so my entire basement flooded. I had to have a restoration company come out and dry out the whole basement for 3 days while one of my tenants had to move for those few days because their room was flooded. They STILL have not paid the restoration company 6 weeks later and I am now going to have to take them to court and sue them for the whole cost ($4500). Every time I call now they do not pick up. I have tried to be as honorable as possible to both them and the restoration company, but B & R has been no help at all. read more

Bought a fridge. They delivered it and installed it. They broke something on the ice machine/water line in the back and the doors were not put on straight. They came out to fix it but it was still leaking. Came back out fixed the line and reset the doors and we are good to go Only 4 stars because of the lack of communication from the tech who was supposed to call each time and did not. I purchased a used washing machine from B&R last year. Our washing machine died unexpectedly and we were short on cash due to a recent move. Since the machine we bought was refurbished, I wanted to wait a while before writing this review to see how my appliance performed after the purchase. When we first entered the store, I was impressed that the salesman did not try and up sell us. We explained what type of washer we needed and he steered us toward some very practical recommendations. In fact, he encouraged us not to buy anything that day and to come back in a few days when he had more inventory. Indeed, when we came back we discovered many models which were exactly what we were looking for. The washer plus delivery cost was very affordable, and the delivery man even hooked up the machine and ran a rinse cycle to verify that there were no leaks. I bought a full set of kitchen appliances for the house I'm moving into, and a gas range for a rental unit. I was treated well, and the service was very good. The gas range was refurbished, and when I had a minor issue with one of the gas burners not sparking, Bashar came out to my house with the replacement part and fixed it in minutes. He also helped me hold and drill a hole behind the oven so I could install it properly, which was above and beyond. Super happy with everything. read more

I bought a used refrigerator from them for my garage. it was a good price and they delivered it and hauled away the old one. just about the time the parts and labor warranty expired, the refrigerator stopped working. I called them and they sent a repairman out right away. he had to get a part and return the following day. The owner of B&R is the nicest guy and almost always at the store. He definitely knows how to take care of a repeat customer. Their inventory changes frequently so if they don't have exactly what you are looking for one day, they might have it the next. You can also tell them what it is you are looking for and they will try to hunt it down for you. They have great prices and a very wide range of products from very high end, nearly new appliances - to older appliances you may want for some certain job (i.e. garage fridge). Our brand new Maytag washer quit after 18 month. No, we did not buy extended warranty, had we known it would have only lasted 18 month it would have been a different story. We called a repair man in and was told it was computer/brains of mach that crashed.. the parts along would be $350 and he recommended we replace it with used/refurbished. We are getting on in years and getting to shops is getting harder and harder.. So I called B&R Discount Appliances and the man was very nice and helpful. I asked if we could just buy a new washing mach over the phone. He asked what we were looking for, I gave him my request top loaded, lg capacity, no lock lid and no bells and whistles... 2 days later we had what looked like a brand new Kenmore washer delivered. The two young men that delivered it were very nice, clean and polite. I have done business with B&R before and will continue too. I purchased a New/Discontinued LG Refrigerator from Riad. Was truly impressed with the service we received. I was extremely nervous at first to buy this way rather than buy something that was brand new from a large store, but in the end the savings I incurred was truly worth it and the service received was better than a new store would have provided. We did have an issue with the Fridge going into Error Mode the very first day of having it, but Riad got his technician out next day and the technician was friendly, professional and got our fridge working just right and truly cared about making sure everything was as it should be. We needed to purchase a used refrigerator when ours died. The store manager was pleasant and helpful, but didn't hover. There were a lot of choices, and the prices were very reasonable. We found one that worked for us, checked with the manager about warranties and such and arranged for it to be delivered. The delivery fee was very reasonable. The delivery driver went above and beyond the call of duty with helping us get the fridge into our second story kitchen. We were very grateful for his good natured help. Within a week, a problem arose with the fridge. We contacted the store, and the manager came out to our place personally to diagnose and repair the problem...no charge. Two weeks later, another problem came to light. We contacted the store, and the manager came out again, diagnosed the problem and repaired it. I waited a year to write this review, in case there were additional problems with the fridge. It has worked like a charm, and we're very happy with it. We came in to this store looking for a washer and dryer when we moved into our new house. They had plenty.. Side by side in pairs and singles, mostly used. Crammed in a small space but plenty to choose from. the problem? We walked around the entire store and never saw an employee. A man who did not speak English made some broken comment about "they in the back" but at no point did anyone come out. There was some sort of alert noise when we walked in. We had questions about some of the machines but with no one to help us, we walked to the desk. Still no one. So we left. Went to another place where we got adequate service and made our purchase. I walked into the storr and the worker walked right up to us and follow us down one row while playing on his phone. Then decides to welcome us to the store. And continue on his phone. While we walked thru the store the guy followed us as if we could somehow steal a big appliance. He barely spoke english and the prices were high ! We noticed the freezer we just purchased was not performing optimally. My wife called to report the issue. No hassle at all. They loaded up a replacement freezer and had it delivered the same day! I went to B&R looking for a used washer and dryer set. I found a nice Kenmore set, a few scratches but that's ok when you're buying used. I had the set delivered, they removed the old set. I did have a few problems arise during the 90 day warren try period. I wasn't too thrilled that I had as many problems as I did. One of the problems with my dryer came up after my warranty had expired. The owner of the store sent out his repairman to solve the problem. The repairman was awesome. He fixed it quick and even adjusted the clutch on my washer since it wasn't spinning all the water out. The in-store cusomer service could use some improvement (greeting customers as they enter, not waiting 5 minutes) but overall, I'm happy with the end result. This place was AMAZING. Like a candy store if you've come from looking at appliances at a big box store. I was able to find a a fridge, washer and dryer, dishwasher, and range for 1/2 of what I would have normally paid. The owner helped me from the moment I walked in and was very knowledgable but also very low pressure. I nearly skipped this place but then I read the owner response to a previous negative comment and looked at the filtered reviews. Thank goodness I did or I would've spent thousands more elsewhere. I was in and out in like 30 minutes because everything was so straightforward. Now I have a go to place to get any appliances I may ever need in the future!! read more
