So glad I went back to Dr Gil. Used him back when he first opened his practice. For some reason I started using another vet and totally forgot he was still here. He is one of the most honest vets in this part of town. Took my shih tzu in to determine if he had a cold or allergies. He's the first vet that actually suggested trying allergy med first and would check in Bentley in a few days. If he didn't get better he'd prescribe an antibiotic. Just had to run in where the previous vet would have insisted on another appt. and additional charges. Office was very busy since only 1 vet, but employees very nice and attentive. Will definitely go back, another nice perk prices are a little better than other vets in area. read more

Dr. Gill and staff are OUTSTANDING!!! They truly go above and beyond for their patients and sincerely care for them as well as their patients' human counterparts. I appreciate how Dr. Gill is able to be direct and not sugar coat whatever the situation is with your 4-legged family member, yet, at the same time genuinely be warm and know when to insert his sense of humor. His rates are more than reasonable. I had visited him before in 2010 with my German Shepherd mix, Michelangelo (more commonly referred to as Mike) once or twice and was impressed then. After military moves and deployments, I came back to Temecula. Four years later, I had to bring Mike back in for a visit and Dr. Gill remembered us. I have been out of the military for over a year, grew my hair out, and he still remembered that I was in the service. He even noticed that Mike's fur was shorter since last he saw him (Mike had a grooming appointment earlier in the week). This to me spoke volumes about how much he truly cares and doesn't just refer to their chart. I know Mikey is getting up there in his golden years but I wouldn't trust anyone else to care for Mike or any of my other 4-legged children. This veterinary hospital is fantastic! When my regular vet was to busy to see my dog after she ingested a bottle cap, I called VRVH because I had heard they were a great office. I called on a Monday afternoon and explained what was going on with my dog. The front desk was very compassionate and squeezed me in the next day do to the urgency of the situation. After getting our X-Rays, our only option to remove the bottle cap was surgery. They scheduled me for the next morning. I dropped my dog off and was immediately called after her surgery to inform me of how everything went. They invited my family to come later that day to see my dog and talk with the doctor. Dr. Gil has been a veterinarian for 27 years and has a calm and pleasant bedside manner. He put us at ease and we knew she was in the best care possible. Our dog stayed the night and we came the following evening to pick her up. Dr. Gil explained everything to us as far as how to care for our dog over the next few weeks and encouraged us to call if we had any questions or concerns. The vet techs are incredibly kind and compassionate and you can tell they enjoy working there. The front desk staff is attentive and they answer their phone and don't immediately put you on hold like the other veterinary hospital we used to go to. The entire office is spotless and they seem to be able to run an efficient operation in spite of all the covid rules and regulations. We have never had to wait more then a few minutes for anything! My only regret is that I didn't come to this office sooner but I am so happy that I now can call them my pets veterinary hospital. Thank VRVH for everything you have done for my dog. How fortunate we are to have found Dr. Gill and his staff. One visit with our new family member, an 8 week old puppy and we were struck by his genuine compassion and delight for our animal. I have two 11 year old dogs who needed teeth cleaning. One of them didn't recover as well from the anesthesia and was in a lot of pain from the procedure. I had to bring him back to the doctor for IV fluids and a couple of injections. They didn't charge me which would have been $180 more! They called first thing Monday morning to see how he was doing. I just relocated to the Temecula area I needed my pug checked and needed microchips for my pug and my cat as I am preparing to move out of the country with all my animals. We have been bringing "Mister"our Miniature Schnauzer here for the past three years and they have been excellent. Recently we got orders to Guam which is a rabies free place. Dr. Hill and his staff were very helpful in getting us situated with the health certificate, correct vaccinations, blood work, heart worm medication, and how to go about the 120 days of quarantine before we arrive. Staff is friendly, book an appointment very quickly, and only waited about 5 minutes to be seen. Doctor Gill prescribed medication for my cats' diarrhea before knowing what was causing it. Turned out not to be parasites so they assume it's bacteria. Gave me liquid medication to give to my cat twice a day via syringe for 10 days. My poor angel absolutely HATED the taste of the medicine, it's not easy to force a loved one with a syringe down his throat, to swallow bitter medicine. After about 4 days of watching him foam at the mouth, gag and look at me like "why are you doing this too me mom", I called the vet and asked if they had a pill form. Of course they did and said to come pick up the remaining prescription. WHY DIDNT I GET THE PILL FORM OF THE MEDICATION FIRST!!!!?? I drive the long haul there from my house and they're actually trying to charge me for 5 lousy pills. After I had already spent almost $150 during the initial visit!!! NEEDLESS TO SAY, my poor cat still has the runs. read more

We have been taking our pets to Dr. Gil for over 10 years. He is a very good vet and a very kind and compassionate man. I've gotten accustomed to his quieter nature but I see his humor pop through too. He's never done us wrong. All veterinary care at any vet office is expensive and I don't find him excessive at all. The costs are part and parcel with owning a pet. His staff is awesome as well. As another reviewer said " he is direct and doesn't tap dance around the issues." I also witnessed his caring nature when someone dropped a dog off that they claim they found on the street. He housed the dog at his office until he could find a home for him. I just noticed on the website that he is open from 8 til 8. That is very helpful to pet parents who work and for pets that get sick after normal business hours. read more

We took our sick Pug to this clinic for the first time about a week ago. I cant speak highly enough about the staff from Dr Gill to the desk clerks. They provided excellent care at a very reasonable rate. Be prepared, Dr Gill is very direct he will not tap dance around the issues. However, as we had a chance to speak to him over a few days while our dog was being treated we found him to be warm and with a sense of humor. We have a pug named Noah who is about 11 years old. He was given to my grandma as a companion 2 years ago by a nurse but not really taken care of properly so we wanted to get him looked at because he had several health issues. The office is clean and well maintained. The girls at the front were very nice. We saw Dr. Gill and he was great. He was honest but helpful, caring and so nice. It really bums me out to write this review... in short, VRVH very likely has too many patients. It's always very frustrating to wait an hour (plus) for your appointment when you have an anxious pet that you're trying to keep calm in a waiting room full of other anxious pets. We tolerated the long waits, though, for a number of years because we always felt Dr. Gil was worth it - he is clearly a very capable veterinarian. However, our greatest disappointments concern their handling of our dog's euthanasia as well as the return of her ashes. On January 13th, when we discovered that our beloved German Shepherd needed to be euthanized, my wife called the office, clearly distraught (it was a very sudden diagnosis and euthanasia), and she was forced to hold for what seemed like an excessive amount of time while they figured out how much it would cost to put her down and cremate her. We wrongly assumed that that would be a relatively simple, boilerplate quote. And while it was disappointing in the moment, personally, I chalked it up to our own emotion over everything happening that afternoon. Fast forward 23 days - I called them again today, February 5th, to find out when the ashes of our dog could be expected back at their office. I was asked to hang on while they checked on it. About 4 or 5 minutes later, once their phone system auto re-rang the front desk due to the prolonged wait, the same receptionist picked up the phone and said "Vail Ranch Veterinary Hospital, this is (receptionist's name), how can I help you?" I said "you put me hold several minutes ago to check on the status of my dogs ashes being returned." She said "Oh I'm sorry, things just got real busy here and..." Essentially, it was an "I forgot". Turns out, our dog had been cremated within 4 days of her being put down and her remains had been back at VRVH for likely 7-10 days or so - nobody bothered to call to tell us. And she didn't even remember that I was waiting on the phone for that answer. "We're sorry" she said. "You can come by anytime to pick them (the ashes) up." Well, I did come by - one last time today - and I picked up her ashes... and the engraved cedar box containing her ashes, along with the paw print and all documents and cards from the crematorium, had her name misspelled. We'll fix it on our own. They have a lot to work on at VRVH, in my opinion. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. Had a 10 o'clock appointment for sore on paw and not seen until 11 First thing Dr. Gill starts scolding me for not having all the dog's vaccines up to date. When I said another vet had told me it they weren't necessary every year, he yelled at me and cussed. Very unprofessional. His whole demeanor was very condescending. The dog's nails had gotten long and I explained how she was a rescue and this was a problem from the previous owner but he continued to try to make me feel bad by scolding and telling me it was necessary to put her under sedation to cut them which also included blood work and other charges totally $405. I declined after which he said he would "try" to trim them. I had to remind the girl I was there to get treatment for the sore. They made me wait and he was going to sell me some antibiotics and anti-inflammatory. I asked for a written rx to take to Walmart for a better price and the girl tried to tell me the drugs wouldn't be as good. I finally got the rx. I won't be going back. He is rude, unprofessional and uses intimidation tactics. I wonder if he just has a problem with respect for women? read more
