Still a local go-to diner. I ordered delivery today and was so disappointed i felt the urge to update my review. I ordered two identical egg sandwiches and they arrived differently! Different cheese, one had tomato and one didn't... There was a slight "detergent" taste to everything- When ordering on the delivery app you must choose what kind of bread or cheese and they ALL cost extra... Maybe it is a slow weekday at the diner - I hope everyone gets to keep their jobs

Chicken Noodle Soup?!

What happened to this place? Not sure if there's a new owner but this used to be the best diner on LI, now not so much. I ordered three chicken noodle soups and this is what they sent. Cost 6 bucks a container and not one noodle!?! Last few times I've ordered delivery the order was completely wrong. This last delivery of yellow water is it, time to find a new diner.

3.5 Stars, but rounding up to 4 because of our excellent server, Betty! Give her a much deserved raise! Betty was so pleasant and patient, and very efficient at her job. What a pleasure! This was my first visit to this diner, and we went just before noon on Sunday. The parking lot was only about a third full, so that was a good sign! But as 12:30 approached, that lot was full! What a popular diner! On this occasion, three of us dined; two had breakfast and one had the early dinner special. (Note: the Sunday dinner special is available all day, however, if it's not dinner time, you won't get the dessert that the special comes with). Here are our menu choices: - Beef Brisket ($19.95 Sunday dinner special), comes with a veg and a potato of your choice. (No dessert since it's not dinner time). - Belgium Waffle deluxe ($13.80), comes with a large Belgium Waffle, bacon, sausage, ham and one egg. - Farmer's omelet ($13.95), three egg omelet w.bacon, ham, sausage & cheese and toast). I was told that both the waffle and brisket were pretty good! They were both happy with their choices. I had the omelet and thought it was just ok. The omelet was too well-done, and the potatoes were just unseasoned potatoes (no onion, no seasoning). I added salt n pepper to both but my meal was just kinda flat. I would opt not to order an omelet next time, and maybe stick with basic bacon and eggs. Great service, nice diner. I would give this diner another try.

Disappointed today. Service not what I expected. I did not get my food the way I ordered and wait staff never came to check to see if everything was alright. When I informed him that my home fries were not cooked enough (I requested well done) I was told that they did not make them that way because it takes longer. WTF? I would be happy to wait for food prepared the way I like it. If that was not possible, I would have ordered something else. I sent them back uneaten. It is a shame because I really like potatoes with my eggs.

Solid diner experience and will come back when I'm in the area! My husband and I went to several diners during Thanksgiving weekend and considering the fact that diners normally have larger portions, this one in particular had the largest for sure! The wait staff were nice and accommodating - so much so that we had 4 different wait staff come by our table, which was a little confusing, and we weren't quite sure who our waiter was... Overall, the food was great, though my home fries were unseasoned in my eggs Benedict order. Like not even salt hahaha which I guess is good for those who can't have too much sodium. Will definitely make a visit again in the future

9/16/18 Stopped by here after the Williston Park Street Fair. Pros: large portions, reasonable prices, complementary chickpea salad, coleslaw, and pickles. Nice host Ordered the burger deluxe which was quite tasty, prepared well done as I requested. It came with lettuce, tomato, french fries, and two onion rings. Cons: Undercooked cold french fries, I couldn't find the waitress after she dropped off my dish. I wanted some mustard. I finally asked the busboy who brought some honey mustard dressing. I had to get up and and find the manager who brought some mustard out from a cabinet. Also, dirty bathrooms. Prices are very reasonable

I'm not going to say this was a 5 star restaurant but it was certainly a 5 star diner. It was bright and very clean. Everything in the dessert case at the entrance looked excellent. I really wanted dessert but my meal was so big I couldn't finish it, let alone have dessert. I ordered the 2 meat sandwiches combo for $14.99. It was two whole sandwiches on rolls. It came with potato salad, cole slaw, a pickle, and chick pea salad which came first. My only negative comment would be about the potato salad. It had an unexpected sweet taste. Definitely not to my liking. But there was so much else to eat that it didn't matter. I'll be back here for sure.

It looks like a repurposed railroad car and seems like it could roll away on wheels at any moment! The chrome exterior with a bright neon sign takes you back to the diners of the 50's and that's because the Mineola diner has been in business for 75 years! Inside, the lunch counter seating, Formica tables, vinyl booth bench seats and corner jukebox are typical of that era. The menu is more modern though with tabloid size printed plastic placards and separate specials card for brunch and drinks. Any diner worth their salt serves a full range of breakfast and that includes fried eggs (any way you want them), bacon, pancakes & omelets off the steel flat top grill. My wife orders from the breakfast specials menu, the Scott Tenorman Homemade Chili & Cheddar Omelet with Home Fries. Chili in an omelet is pretty original and it works. I have to try the homemade Corned Beef Hash topped with 2 eggs over EZ. The accompanying home fries are extra well done, just the way I like it with a crispy crust. I've had better hash, but it's not bad. Both breakfast platters come with your choice of buttered toast and I smother mine in runny egg yolk. We definitely found a gem here in the Mineola Diner and will have to make this a regular stop for breakfast and lunch! Too bad they don't serve dinner and only open until 2pm.

WE WERE OVERCHARGED TWICE BY $10! We ordered two omelets, and our check somehow came to $45 with no itemized breakdown. When we questioned it, our server--a petite brunette woman who appeared to be in her late 20s to early 30s--insisted it was correct. After we pushed back, she claimed she had confused our order with a different omelet. There isn't a single omelet on the menu that costs anywhere close to $22 each, and that excuse makes even less sense considering we were the only customers there. She adjusted the bill to $35, but the total should have been less than that as well. Even then, the tax was still wrong. On top of that, they added a credit card fee without any notice. There was no sign, no mention on the menu, and no warning beforehand. The food was just as disappointing. The home fries were mushy and barely edible. Despite overcharging us more than once, our server NEVER APOLOGIZED! Hidden fees, inaccurate charges, terrible service, and mediocre food--this place is a rip-off, and we definitely won't be back.

My fiance & I ordered two orders of the blueberry pancakes, which was a mistake because of how MASSIVE each order was; we could've easily split one. We also ordered the sides of corned beef hash and ham steak. Highly highly recommend both. The corned beef hash is SO delicious & homemade, and the ham steak is huge! The staff here are really lovely and attentive. Our coffee cups never went empty. Parking is available on site, but incredibly difficult to get a spot. Other than that little bit of confusion, everything else was good. Because the hospital and several doctor's offices are nearby, you'll notice a lot of hospital workers and people in scrubs coming in for breakfast and lunch, which is always a good sign. Walking in, we were greeted right away and told we could sit wherever we wanted. The service was good, and the atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a diner classic diner ambiance and casual vibes. The food was definitely yummy overall. I had the eggs over medium with corned beef hash and home fries, and that was really good. My partner had the bacon omelet, and he said the quality of the bacon was really good and that they were generous with the amount they put inside the omelet. He also ordered french fries, which he wasn't really a fan of. They had a thicker consistency and didn't have much flavor, but they weren't terrible either. One disappointment was finding out they no longer serve waffles, because I was definitely looking forward to a Belgian waffle. We ended up getting pancakes instead, and honestly, I wouldn't recommend them. The pancake was kind of weird it didn't absorb the syrup at all, and the syrup itself tasted watered down. I'd say stick to the main breakfast items and you'll be perfectly fine.

This place definitely gives a hole in the wall vibe and that's what I wanted. There are plenty of "brunch vibes" in Long Island and that's not what I was looking for today. Service was super prompt and the food came quick, less than 10 minutes. I ordered the Mexican omelette which was eggs, shredded chicken and oaxacan cheese. I expected the chicken and cheese to be cooked into the omelette - it was actually an egg omelette with the chicken and cheese folded inside. No complaints though; when I had enough eggs, I was able to eat just the chicken. It was well seasoned and not doused in cheese, which I appreciated. Note to self: no sour cream next time. It was unnecessary. The omelette came with a side of home fries. The home fries were the perfect mix of soft and crispy, with onions and peppers. They tasted great. It also came with toast and I added avocado, and made avocado toast... YUM. I had an iced coffee on the side. Nothing special about the coffee- not good or bad. The restaurant was pretty empty, which we assumed was because of the holiday. We were greeted right away and seated in a booth. Personally, I found the booth to feel a little closed in, and I wish I had asked for a regular four-person table instead. Our menus and waters were brought out promptly. After ordering, my husband and I were served pickles and coleslaw. My husband enjoyed the pickles, but the coleslaw was pretty bland and dry. My husband ordered the steak panini with potato salad. He said the sandwich was good, but the steak could have used a lot more seasoning and flavor. The potato salad, however, was delicious. I ordered a panini as well. The sandwich itself was good, but it came without any mayo or other condiment, so the bread tasted a little dry. Even a bit of pesto or aioli would have made a big difference. Our 13-year-old ordered the chicken and waffles, and the portion was enormous! It came with four pieces of chicken and a huge waffle. She really enjoyed it. Our 9-year-old ordered the s'mores pancakes and absolutely loved them. They came with plenty of butter and syrup on the side. The menu advertised Jarritos sodas, but unfortunately they didn't have the flavor one of my daughters wanted, so she chose strawberry instead. My youngest ended up getting an apple juice, and I was honestly shocked when I saw it was $5.25 on the bill. Our waiter was excellent throughout the meal. He was attentive, kept our water glasses full, and made sure we had everything we needed. One disappointment was the fountain Coke. I don't drink soda very often, but every now and then I love an ice-cold fountain Coke. Unfortunately, this one was flat. The restroom was clean, but the tables felt a little sticky, and the jukebox didn't appear to be working. Overall, we had a pleasant experience thanks to the friendly service and the generous portions. There are a few things the restaurant could improve, especially with seasoning, condiments on the sandwiches, and checking things like the soda machine and table cleanliness. We'd consider coming back if we're in the area again, but we'd probably try different menu items next time.
