This is a diner with very friendly staff quick service. I am rating it a three because my breakfast wasn't the best. I felt my eggs were a little runny for me but someone else might love that and the turkey sausage was just OK. The toast was really good though. I would go back because they have a lot of great things on their menu all types of different pancakes that I would want to try. The prices are about average for a diner. read more

**This is a short one** The diner is very cool inside. White and red tables, and the old school booth seating. The menu is small which I found very easy to navigate through and made a decision quickly. They also have a daily specials menu. Prices are very fair, and worth the amount of food provided. The decor is that of an old time feeling diner. Red sparkle chairs and old timey music. As I'm writing this I am still waiting for our food. It has been at least 20ish minutes since we ordered. It's new, and if not it looks like they just renovated the whole place. It's very nice inside. The menu is not the biggest one I've seen at a diner, but atleast what's on it seems to be good. I went there with my wife, daughter, aunt and uncle. My aunt and uncle both had omelets and they came out just the way they wanted it. And they were really good. My wife had a couple of poached eggs, they were cooked a little bit more than she wanted, were still good. My daughter loved her meal French toast with Carmel and apples, she got it apples and Carmel on the side. Let's just say I almost lost a finger when I got to close. And me I had a turkey club pannini with potato salad and a pickle. It was all good. Next time I'm in NY I'll definitely eat here again. read more

The food and prices are great. The staff is friendly. We always enjoy ourselves at this diner, and for that I gave the diner a four star rating. However, if I were to rate it for hours of operation, I would give it a one star. If you plan to eat after 6 pm, you can only do that Friday and Saturday (please note Google says it closes at 8 pm) so your time after 6 is precious. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, it closes at 3 pm. On Thursday and Sunday, the diner closes at 6 pm. If those times work for you, it is worth it. read more

Burger was reheated and definitely not freshly cooked. Dried out and warm to touch. They ran out of baked potatoes and it was 6:15 pm. Offered a sweet potato and then server came back and said they were not ready! I finally settled for rice. The overripe tomato was inedible. Little else to stay positive about. The other order was a hot open turkey but the slices were so thick and gravy was exactly like cement. Could not eat this. At prices of today, wasting food is awful. Not a bad choice for a variety of food, but prices are high and service is young and mediocre. For the area, parking is a bit hinky but ok. Staff has a can-do attitude but someone needs to better manage them. Our server took forever to come over, even though the place was mostly empty. He had to be reminded to bring basic water and additional napkins as requested. I had two birthdays by the time the food arrived. They do not yet have a liquor license, but their menu has no note about that. They have alcohol on the menu and if you order something, then he tells you. This is on a "need to know" basis?? Sloppy management. Why not put a note on the menu? Double duh. No attention to detail. Cashier was MIA when we got to the front. Maybe she was on break? Seems they close at 9 pm. Bedtime or naptime? So we saw that the Cobb salad was over $20, which seemed offensive. But when it came out, the size was large and I felt less offended. Seems the price is justified. We have gone to Red Apple 4-5 times over the past 14 months. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. We usually order breakfast, a hot sandwich or a salad. The food is always fresh and we do enjoy the tasty cole slaw and pickle. It is fine with us to be served half a pickle. Last night I ordered the chicken parm on a roll which was to come with fries. They always allow me to substitute their to die-for potato salad. The decor is pleasant and clean. As diner's go for us it is fast service and good food that keep us going back. Read about this place re-opening, decided to give it a try. Looks nice inside. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich on white toast after being assured by the server that the chicken salad was the chunky type, not the very shredded type. Wife settled on a cheeseburger, she wasn't thrilled with the choices. My chicken salad was exactly the type I DIDN'T want, plus it was on rye toast, and the bread was hard. It took nearly ten minutes to get the server's attention. He apologized, I then requested bacon and eggs. I had already tried my wife's bacon, and it was somewhat tasteless and hard to chew, so I asked for not too crispy. Her cheese on the burger looked like it was one of those Kraft cheese food slices, but looked like they had left the plastic on. Server brought my food out without the toast. He said they "have a slow toaster." Yes, he said that. My hash browns were way too salty. Eggs tasted old. Bacon was hard to chew. I opened the butter packet and was suspicious because it felt very soft and warm. The butter was separated. The server said it came out of the refrigerator, he'll get me new butter. I told him they need a new refrigerator. I couldn't smell it, but my wife says the place definitely had a strong smell of mold. After the third hair was found in her burger, we KNEW it wasn't hers. It was grey. Neither of us finished our meals. Went to pay, had to wait till the apparent owner behind the counter finished counting out dollar bills. No acknowledgement that we were standing there until he finally decided to use two fingers to call us over. Very nice. He asked how everything was. I said, "Could've been better." I also had the Apple and brown sugar pancakes, which I never tasted the brown sugar, so basically just some non seasoned sliced apples in a pancake. Newly renovated. I loved the new decor and it was clean and fairly busy on a Sunday morning. Our server was great, I wish I remembered her name. We got the avocado Benedict with bacon and an American cheese omelette. I thought they were just going to give me two strips of bacon but boy was there a pile of it! I had a simple pastrami sandwich.They gave me some pastrami.I usually think of rye bread with pastrami almost covering the plate because there was so much. Not here it was worse than cafeteria food. He did not give be me rye bread. We got a half a pickle and something they passed off as coleslaw.the pickle not only was old you could bend it together and it wouldn't break. Glad to see a local Diner reopen. First visit back was Friday for lunch. Interior was nicely refreshed. The 2 sided menu is smart with limited options and will reduce cost by having too much food on hand. Prices were average but not as expensive as some other local places. We had basic stuff like a BLT and Panini turkey BLT. Everything was good. Waiter was very friendly. I am definitely looking forward to going back for breakfast and dinner. Surprisingly good breakfast. I had been eyeing this place since it opened in the old location of a bad diner, but finally its time came. Much brighter and airier than before or than other diners around. Pleasant staff, pleasant service, good food, generous portions. I had perfect eggs over easy with delicious, well cooked sausage. It came with excellent, tasty home fries, cooked so that there were no bland spots that you sometimes find. One oddity, the rye toast was cooked only on one side!? My wife loved her challah French toast. Good coffee. They could improve the juice selection: There was no fresh-squeezed orange juice and there was over-sweetened grapefruit juice. read more

We arrived on a Saturday around 5:30 dinner hour and by the time we left, the place was packed! Nobody seems to know what they're doing! Under staffed and while the well intentioned (older lady with stinky perfume) server bragged sbout how great their offerings are, it took way too long to receive our food which was mediocre at best! I was here on Easter Sunday they put a party of 8 of us in the side room full of windows. It became extremely hot in this room and we asked them to do something about the heat since we had two 2 years old and I was 8 months pregnant. The manager told us that the heat was off and they refused to put the air on. The manager told us it was because of the windows, so they knew this was an issue and decided to sit us here regardless. It's the old Lynbrook Diner, repainted. In all honesty, the repaint could have been done better, but that's not why we went there. We went looking to eat. The food was excellent, if there was a word better than excellent, I'd use it. Service was great, people friendly, all in all, food and service are what counts, and they crushed that! We don't live far away, but we pass several diners on the way. We will continue to pass those others to eat at Red Apple. It's our new favorite. read more

Really good local diner. They've made some upgrades since Lynbrook Diner. Staff were very accommodating. I am covid cautious and don't usually eat indoors, but they were able to give us a spacious table and area far from other diners. One friend had an issue with her food but it was immediately addressed and remedied at no extra charge. Another friend asked for something that wasn't on the menu and they made it no problem. Prices comparable to other local diners for good food and service and a staff willing to go the extra mile for patrons' comfort. read more

Unfortunately it was not a good experience. Matzo Ball soup was nasty and we returned immediately. At $6 a cup I would never order soup there again! No diner charges that much for a CUP. Our waitress said she was bringing out our cole slaw and pickles but never did. Eggs over easy ordered and didn't bring toast. Asked for it and was told she'd get it but never did! As a result, my husband couldn't eat the 2nd egg that was ice cold from waiting for his toast! We had to ask for condiments for quesadillas and chicken fingers and we never got them. After a long time my husband went and asked the hostess! Every table around us were having problems as well, including no utensils etc. Our dirty soup dishes sat on the table the entire time. I really wanted to like this place, having many memories of the 1980s Lynbrook Diner when I was much younger. However, this was not the case. I ordered the pastrami and Swiss panini, making sure with the waiter that it would be pressed. When it arrived, it was pressed on only one side, the cheese wasn't melted, and there was LITTLE pastrami - not cooked - in the middle. I was disappointed. The person I dined with requested a pastrami on rye. She got an uncooked pastrami sandwich on white toast. The mustard she requested was yellow mustard, served in plastic cups. She, too, was disappointed. Further, the coffee refill she requested took so long, we had to remind the waiter again that she was waiting. I wish my experience had been better, but maybe they need to review their practices and their menu and make efforts to improve them. This is not the OLD Lynbrook Diner (and to clarify, not the place that was at this location for the past years but the OLD one before the fire). read more

Might be a staffing issue, but 5 empty tables weren't bussed when we walked in and they sat like that for a majority of our meal. Very happy to have this diner opened again! My daughter and I went two weeks ago. I got pizza burger. It was very good and topped with Fresh Mozz which was a nice surprise. My daughter loved her chocolate chip pancakes and turkey bacon. Waitress was super friendly and on point. ONLY complaint was that the silverware looked very old and very cheap.
