Ugh, I wish I liked this bike store, they are in fact the closest Specialized store nearest to me…read more I first came here when I was shopping for a bike, as I was new to cycling, I wasn't looking to buy the most expensive bike in the store, but that didn't stop them from trying! I ended up purchasing a Specialized bike, but not from this store. I thought I would still come here and buy accessories and have my bike serviced here, but the employees here don't really care about their customers or customer service. On one occasion I came in to buy shoes, but they didn't carry my size. They told me that I would need to pay for the shoes and if they didn't fit, to bad so sad! How would I know if they would fit, if I can't try them on?!?!? Just take your business elsewhere. There are several stores around they Peninsula that sell and service Specialized bikes!

Had they taken the time to talk to me about switching parts, I would've easily been persuaded. I'm also a regular customer at the store. The fact that I was just treated like that saddens me. They simply don't care. That's fine if it's your business model, but the delivery was unnecessarily dismissive and came off as elitist. Not everyone rides a top-tier brand, and that shouldn't mean being treated like you're wasting their time. I was prepared to spend a few hundred dollars on a tune up and more for repairing my crumbling wheel, but clearly that wasn't the issue--the brand of my bike was. There are plenty of shops that value customers regardless of what they ride. I'll be taking my business to one of them. Note: I found a better bike shop that will support all bikes and treat you well well providing their service. You can avoid the snobbery of Cognition cycle. Go to Woodside Bike Shop. They're very friendly, very efficient, reasonably priced and they do great work. Called these guys when I was on my way over to Half Moon Bay on a Tuesday afternoon. They said they…read morehad plenty of bikes available for rent and to come on down! I was in and out with a rental bike and guidance on which direction to head in for a nice ride within minutes of arriving. Super quick and easy experience. Paid $25 plus tax for about 3 hours of ride time (all that was left in the day). Got in a great 16.75 mile ride and turned the bike in just as easily as I rented it. Note that all available rental bikes are single speed and you reverse the pedals to brake (not handle bar brakes). I was reluctant at first but the trail is easy enough and a single speed bike was you need! Oh and they'll let ya borrow a helmet if you forget to bring yours ;)

The line was about six deep at opening. Great communications. While they were working on my bicycle, I received a call letting me know my brakes and rotors needed replacing also. That saved me another trip and a potential safety hazard riding downhill. All in all, bleeding of the brakes, brake pads, chain replacement, rotors, fixing the bent rear derailer was $400. Ron had very little to work with over the phone but still gave me some good information before inviting me to bring my bike over.
