I was in Albuquerque with my girlfriend for the Christmas/New Years holiday and I started to have…read moretooth pain in one of my molars. I tried pain killers and a filling repair kit but I found only limited relief. After three days I couldn't take it any longer. Not willing to ruin my whole vacation with tooth pain I started looking for a dentist that could take me for some emergency intervention. We found this dentist fairly close to where we were staying and we called them. They understood our situation and got us in for an early afternoon appointment. We arrived early to fill out paperwork and I told them I would be paying via Credit Card and getting reimbursed by my Health Savings Plan. They told me they would provide all the paperwork I needed to get reimbursed. They were very courteous and professional and I didn't have to wait long after I finished the paperwork. I was escorted into a room and seated quickly. The dental assistant walked me through the process to take an x-ray of my problem tooth. My wait for the doctor (dentist) was equally short. He came in after 10 minutes and introduced himself as Doctor Long (C. Ross Long, DDS) and proceeded to ask me questions about my situation. He looked at the x-ray and explained to me very clearly what was going on. He showed me what was left of my old filling (around 30 years old), and the temporary patch job that I did with the filling kit. He told me I did a great job patching the whole where part of the filling came out, too good in fact because it trapped bacteria inside the tooth. The bacteria over several days grew and had nowhere to go except push on the root which was the cause of my pain. He explained that he would remove the old filling, my temporary filling, clean everything out, do a partial root canal, then patch it all back up and I would be good to go until I got back home to have a crown put on. He told me that my gums were healthy and that my dentist would have no problem finishing the root canal. He injected me with novacaine and told me to sit tight until I was numb...about 20 minutes. Then the doctor with his capable assistant made short work of my situation. Within 30 minutes they were done and I was sitting up in the chair. The doctor told me he wouldn't charge me for the x-ray and that the whole procedure came to $189.00. Wow, what service and what a great deal. If I ever find myself in Albuquerque, I know where I want my dental work done. Thank you Doctor Long and North Coors Dental.

I will start the the positive. My daughter had to have oral surgery and her orthodontist…read morerecommended Dr. Jeffries. My daughter is 14, first time being put under and first time getting an IV so she was very nervous. They didn't let us go back with her while she got prepped or while IV was administered BUT my daughter was so comfortable. She said everyone was so kind and patient. She said they let her sing to them and they were so kind. We received a follow-up phone call the next day to ensure my daughter was doing well after the procedure. Negative: I received a call a few days prior to her procedure from Jason to remind me of procedure and he said to call back give give them a verbal confirmation. I called back the next day and I expressed I was calling to give my verbal. The gentleman who answered the phone was weird and very confusing. He stated she was coming in for wisdom teeth and I told him that's was wrong. He asked what she was coming in for?!!?? I expressed that I already told them what needed to be done per the Ortho referral when I called in weeks prior to schedule so I was thrown off and confused why he was asking me what she was being seen for a day before her procedure. He was so discombobulated. I even stopped the conversation and asked whom I had called because he seemed to not know anything. He said he would relate my message to Jason. Then not even 20 minutes later I received a call from a different number so I didn't answer. I then received a text from that number, with a link. It didn't have a business topper or anything, just wanted me to start inserting my name and information. No other explanation of who it was from or instructions. So I called the number back, it was the same man I had talked to previously, I knew this because he is hard to understand. I asked who it was and what they needed, he was frustrated and talked to me like I was a child. All it took sir was for your to introduce yourself and explain what the link was for when you text me. Not just send a random link that I took as fraud. I run a business and this was very unprofessional, I would never allow this to be the face of my business. It was so uncomfortable and confusing, I don't even have words for it. I had almost cancelled the appointment because of this situation. Bottom line is, I'm glad I didn't because the staff on-site were amazing and made up for the nasty taste the gentleman left it my mouth... talked to him twice over the phone and he never even gave his name. Thanks Dr. Jeffries and staff for making my daughter feel safe in your care! For this I will give 5 stars but consider hiring someone else to manage your calls/clients.

This review is for a root canal performed at Modern Dentistry in Albuquerque…read more The general manager at this location is really caring and proficiently answers all questions as it seems the staff at the front computers are there primarily to check people in. You will be asked to sign forms that you cannot see and they will provide the forms to you only if you ask. They were really good with the estimate they provided ahead of the procedure, so I knew what to expect financially. The team was very kind to reschedule me as I arrived late due to traffic (accident) delays and I arrived at the wrong address - do not put in 2800 Coors as it will not bring you to the right address. This combination of events made me 20 min late even though I had allowed 30 extra minutes of travel time for a 90 min drive. Better to put into your phone the actual name (modern dentistry Albuquerque) or home depot (the office is tucked behind the home pot with no big sign except in front of the office over the front door. If you are more than 10 min late the office may do their best to reschedule you the same day and they will allow you to sit in the sitting area with wifi provided - bring your own water as their water dispenser in the sitting area is broken as of Feb 2023 and no other option is offered. The endodontist, Dr. Wilson, was previously a dentist and is now an endodontist. He uses a microscope to perform his work really well with a set of instruments on a tray, and doesn't use the more modern tools that some endontists now use. He's good about giving info on what he is doing and his dental tech/assistant is really kind and explains additional things if you have questions. Dr. Wilson will sing along to the relatively loud music piped through the intercom of the office - if you do not mind...I kindly provided feedback to him this was not my personal preference as he is drilling in my mouth right next to my ear ...brings back memories of another endodontist in Santa Fe who hums a weird low voice while leaning into the patient during the procedure (felt creepy to me and others in reviews provided similar feedback) - might be soothing to some patients??? So if you'd rather Dr. Wilson not sing, you could kindly ask him ahead of the procedure not to sing and he is super nice, so I'm sure he would kindly oblige. Suggestion: You may want to ask the dental office what pain meds you can safely take before/after your root canal as I was in a lot of pain after the root canal, and no pain meds are provided. Ice and non prescription pain meds were enough to reduce pain once I arrived home. No instructions were provided post procedure and if you need them, perhaps you can ask? CAUTION: Please keep your valuables at hand at this office. As of Feb 2023, there is construction happening at this location and when I left my favorite stainless steel coffee mug in the sitting area, it was gone when I returned from the bathroom and from talking to the front desk. The general manager showed the video of me coming into the front door and did not see that I had tucked my coffee mug under my arm behind my laptop computer - and they actual tried to convince me I had not entered the sitting area with it. I had clearly been drinking the coffee during my entire 2 hour drive, arrived with the mug, and it was stolen from the sitting/waiting area. Three times they asked me to check to ensure it was not left in my truck. There is only one camera at the entrance to the dentist office and none in the waiting area or offices - this might be a consideration for the clinic safety as they continue with construction. My coffee mug (still 1/4 full of black decaf coffee) was stolen from the sitting area and I hope by sharing this that you will be spared the angst that I had in losing something with sentimental value. IMHO it's not the staff who would do this but perhaps the people coming and going. Hope the person that stole it gets as much enjoyment as I did from it - great mug!

After many years of going to Sandi for her patient-centered policies, she has "gone corporate." Since expanding her practice, Sandi now forces patients into wholly unnecessary profit-oriented processes, explaining it away by claiming "liability" concerns for herself. In the past she was warm and friendly. Wow did she turn cold when I questioned her dramatic reversal of her own health care beliefs and commitments. In fact, I checked with the ADA and her assertions about "mandatory" procedures are simply wrong. But she would rather make the money than stand by her own commitments that I trusted. In fact, I sat in her waiting area and listened to her literally pitch one of her new dental procedures to another patient. (A pitch that had the feel of needing to justify the high cost of an expensive equipment purchase.) Based on how happy I was with her approach, I had referred several people to her. I am now embarrassed to have so enthusiastically recommended her and withdraw my endorsement.

A 2nd opinion was requested, which nobody has followed up on with me. I told them I need 31 crowned because that is the one hurting me. 3rd appointment They were going to crown 30, not 31, they have no nitrous available, I waited nearly and hour to see a dentsit. They did the prep work for the crown and then the dentist came in and said he couldn't do a crown or he wasn't sure if he could, and I should see an endontist to figure that out. It was already hurting me, so I said go ahead and pull it. Again, no nitrous in the office at all. He yanked on my face for at least an hour, and said I'd have to go to an oral surgeon to finish the job. The battery kept running out on his headlamp, they didn't have the tools to finish the job, and there seemed to be other equipment lacking. The dentist said he'd pay for whatever my insurance didn't cover at the oral surgeon, so that was decent. He made the appointment, and I went there the next day. It took the oral surgeon about 3 minutes to get the roots out. I had to suffer through another round of novocane shots in the same spots as the day before. As far as the office is concerned, there seems to be communication problems with regard to appointments and they seem to be overbooking patients. I will be looking for a new dentist again. Sigh.

For me, I decided to look for someone who did not possess the bad qualities of my previous dentist. My previous dentist had a penchant for railing APS and praising Republicans while doing the exam. I stayed with her because the cleaning was great, but then it wasn't; something happened to the dental hygienist and suddenly the once glorious cleanings weren't so glorious (or long) and I decided it was time to move on. Enter Dr. J. Domingo Valles. Technically the practice is his father's, but he is the active dentist on site. Dr. Valles' manner is thorough and patient-centered; he believes in providing quality care with the patient's comfort in mind. Both Dr. Valles and Sandy, the hygienist I spent the most time with, carefully explained what was going to happen and if I was ok with it. I have a fear of bitewing X-rays from my experience with the giant, ancient ones that my childhood dentist would use, which left me gagging and upset, but Dr. Valles' office has the latest tech which leads to a much more pleasant experience - no gagging here. Throughout the appointment, Sandy and Dr. Valles made an effort to get to know me as a person, and shared some of their stories as well. The entire visit was about an hour and a half, and I left with a very clean mouth and a very good feeling about my new dentist. I know that many people have a fear of the dentist, and I would recommend Dr. Valles for these folks. There's nothing scary about the procedures, and the staff are always concerned about your comfort. They truly care, and that makes the difference. Dr. Valles and his staff definitely earned 5 stars from me. The bar was admittedly low - as long as he didn't talk about politics and did a thorough cleaning I would be happy - but my experience surpassed everything that I thought I wanted/needed in a dentist. The bar is now set much higher!
