I came here last month because my normal place was closed and I needed a manicure that day. My first experience was good, they have a LOT of colors to choose from, and my dip manicure lasted over a month with no chips or breaks, so I decided to come back again. This second time the woman who did my nails cut up my cuticles/nail beds so badly that they were all bleeding and stinging for days. She was talking on her phone using EarPods the entire time she was doing my nails which honestly I didn't care about until I realized how bad the work was. She kept apologizing for cutting one of my nails, so she definitely knew what she had done. I didn't really realize how bad it was until I got home otherwise I would have certainly asked for a discount. I've been getting dip manis for years at many different salons and have never had an experience like this. Would not return here!

This place is such a gem! I live in Austin and was visiting family in Richmond and was hoping to find a good spot to get my powder dip manicure done. My mom and I decided to check this place out due to the great reviews and close proximity to her house. We were not disappointed! My mom got a standard manicure and pedicure and enjoyed it so much! She said it was very relaxing and her nail tech did an awesome job. They look really nice. I have been doing the powder dip manicure for a few months now and love how long it lasts and how shiny it is. My nail tech was Jenny and she was awesome! She was very knowledgeable about the dip process, how to achieve the right shape and making sure it was exactly what I wanted. The salon is clean, organized and has a great selection of colors and the pricing is extremely fair. I felt like we got a great service, nothing was rushed and everyone was very nice!

Day 1 of dip nails, but so far I love it. I think my technician was jenny? I can't remember her name but she was really thorough. I went to another location and it felt thick but after going to Valerie's, my nails feel normal-- not excessively thick and they're beautiful! Only thing is she didn't clean the glue or whatever under my nails, but other than that-- GREAT job. I'll post another review after it's been a week or so to see the progress! Day 9 of dip nails-- it started "crusting" or whatever around the edges as it grew out but I also went today to get a pedicure and jenny buffed out my edges a little and made them look new again!! However after the oil came off you could tell where it was buffed which looked kinda weird. Overall, I would still come back.

I came in and waited about 10 minutes on Sunday. Miss Valerie took care of my dip powder nails and she did a great job. The shape and color were exactly what I wanted. Update: 3 weeks later and not one chip, or crack. And I've been rough will my nails. Very impressed!

I came to this place strictly off of reviews on yelp. I left the nail shop next door because my usual girl moved out of state. Valeries husband (Donny) did my nails and someone else dud my pedicure. They had great customer service and did a phenomenal job!!! I am thoroughly impressed and will be back.... They offer you drinks (which is customary now days at most bail shops) and they don't nickel and dime you by charging you for broke nails which I like. The guy that did my nails was a perfectionist and made sure they were perfect and I am a very picky person about how my nails are done.... I highly recommend this place if you live near by!!!

I came in on a Saturday around lunch time without an appointment and had a 20 minute or so wait, which was not bad. A male employee, who was working on someone's nails, made sure to occasionally look up and make sure I'm doing okay and I was offered water as I waited as well. I did not mind the wait and expected it due to the time I'm coming in. Valerie ended up doing my nails and she did an amazing job. I got a dip powder manicure on my natural nails and she was very attentive to details, much more than nail techs in the past with dip powder. My nails were not not thick or clumpy as they have been in the past. I will definitely be back!

This review is long overdue... My fiancé and I just bought a house in Richmond, and the fact that it was closer to Valerie's salon was - NO B.S.! - part of my decision!!! I found her randomly when I was visiting my mom in Sugar Land and desperately seeking dip powder. Since then, I've been commuting to her salon from our place in Midtown. Crazy, I know, but if that doesn't speak volumes for her work, I don't know what will. I'm so glad I found her because she's now my go to, whether I'm near or far. Not only does she do an immaculate job on my nails, but she genuinely cares about her customers. My first visit to her salon, I gave her a big hug when I left! She's so sincere and I have the deepest respect for her. I hope her business grows and flourishes. She's now the only one I trust for nails, and I'm so excited to be moving closer!!!

I have been going to valeries for a few years now and their work is unbeatable. I have never had to wait (although i typically make an appointment) and my nails are always perfect and last for weeks. I get dip powder on my natural nails by Valerie and they are still perfect when i go back three-4 weeks later! I will never go anywhere else. Services and prices are awesome too. Huge selection of dip colors too!

I was looking for a new nail salon near home & found Valerie's on yelp. I decided to try the dipping nails as I have to wear my nails short now for work & wanted a transition from traditional acrylic. I'm in LOVE....it has been 10 days and lots of hand washing and they look like I just had them done! Dan did my nails and I will definitely be returning. Even thinking about bringing my daughter as a solution to her nail biting.

They did a really good job with my mani and pedi. Scrub moisturizer hot towel everything.

My daughter went for manicure and pedicure. This place did an awful job!! A lot of the nails were smudged. This was even after it was 'fixed' twice!! I would NOT recommend this place.

This is literally the best place around. I've tried other nail salons in the area and none are as consistent, considerate and professional!! All the techs are amazing. I LOVE Valerie's!!! I moved to Richmond from ATX a little over 3 years ago and was particularly worried about finding someone whom I could depend on to do an excellent job on my nails. I have to have nails as mine are too weak on their own. Let me preface that I'm a picky lady and once I find someone I'm going to be a loyal client for years to come. But I am not afraid to pop around to find someone- hence me still not settling in with a hairstylist. Haha! Before moving I had just been introduced to dip powder. Valerie's is nearby my new neighborhood so I figured I'd give them a try. 3 years later, I still come religiously to have multiple services done. Valerie and Donny are the awesome owners and although I rely on Valerie to do my nails, Donny has done them for me a couple of times and they are always great. I have needed maybe 2 repairs this whole time and they have always fixed them quickly and without charging. I have rarely had an issue getting an appointment and I typically have to call last minute due to my crazy work schedule. Valerie makes me feel like a treasured client whenever I arrive, greeting me with a smile. She has a great staff; numerous technicians have given me pedicures over the years. Jenny is great! Cindy is awesome! Anne is fantastic and Jennifer is also excellent!!! I have also gotten waxing services from Valerie and she takes her time to make sure she does it right. Angel does lashes there too and although I have yet to try lashes myself, I've seen so many ladies walk out looking gorgeous! I appreciate their punch card system... it's fun to get rewarded for being a repeat customer. I like that I can sip wine and catch up with Valerie or read and relax while I'm there. If you're looking for a place to try, you won't be disappointed with Valerie's. read more

I'm giving this one star, I would give this nk star, but my mom seems to love it here. I've come here multiple times and have noticed that even though I'm always getting simple designs, I'm charged more. Last time I came, I simply got my acrylic nails refilled in one color and they charged me nearly $50! My nails weren't crazy long and I didn't pick a crazy design, only one color. Plus my nails aren't even in the shape I asked for and there's also weird spots and chips after 2 days. I would have stayed and argued but I simply didn't have the time. Even though my mother loves it here, I will not be coming back as I personally feel the quality is not worth my time or money. read more

Finally a nail shop that doesn't smell! Called in for a full in and trim down for my daughter. Valerie assisted us. She was a very sweet and kind woman who spoke to us with respect. I was in sure about the length or shape my daughter should get due to her starting volleyball soon. The place is relaxing. Voices are kept down. They take their time. I've been coming here for months after moving from California. Valerie and all her staff are amazing. I moved to the Katy/Cypress area and tried a couple places in that area but none compared to Valerie's Nail salon so I came right back the because she's the best and her work is one of a kind. I have been going here for approximately 3 years and I have to say I'm very impressed! I love the atmosphere, it's very clean, they serve wine, soft drinks, and water, and I love the music that they play :-) I am very very picky but I have to say Valerie does an excellent job and I do not have to watch her, I can sit back and relax and know that she will do a great job every time. This place is top notch. I went for the first time and the lady, Angel, was so sweet and took her time with every detail. My nails are amazing!! The salon was clean and I got my nails done immediately instead of waiting forever. Every step she would stop and offer me options and they serve beverages! White wine, red wine and sodas or water. And usually you have to pay an arm and leg for it, 40 dollars for a full solar set with powder tips. Absolutely amazing job angel, I will be back to see you ma'am. read more

Horrible customer service. Walked in at 1215. Apt at 1230. At 1230 she tells me they are running twenty minutes behind because the other person came 20mins late for her 11am appointment. She knew this when I came in. Respect my time like I respect yours. Will not go again. Unorganized. read more

I want to start by saying that Valerie does do a wonderful job at waxing. She's waxed my eyebrows several times and they look great afterward. Today I went into to get my eyebrows and lip waxed. It was a different technician. She was extremely rough. The wax was very hot and she was very aggressive. I had to stop her. I've been getting my eyebrows waxed for over 15 years and this was the worst experience of my life. I left the salon in tears. I'm sharing to be cautious. If you get waxing done there, ask for Valerie. I won't be returning to this salon. read more

I am actually sad to say after 2 1/2 years of getting my nails done at this shop by JENNY that I will no longer give them my money. I had a 9am appointment. Not only was it dark in the shop, but it was hot. They should not make appointments for 9am if they are not ready to start at 9am. This was not the first time this happened but since I had been a customer for so long, I tried again and gave them the benefit of the doubt. I patiently waited for JENNY to arrive late at 9:15 and she didn't start on my nails until about 9:20. She refused to apologize for my inconvenience or her tardiness giving me an excuse of getting towels ready for the day. What does that have to do with my 9am appointment? JENNIFER is always sweet and kind and does an amazing pedicure. JENNY does great work but there are too many nail shops in Houston to accept rude service, especially when the fault was not my own. Donnie & Valerie are never friendly & welcoming. As owners, you could at least speak to your customers upon arrival. I will never suggest this place simply due to the lack of customer service. The 1 star is for customer service. read more

Awful-- if I could give zero stars I would. If you want a good pedicure this is not the place -- if you are in the mood to get your toe nails painted for $50 no massage and be in and out in 10 min. Come here!! The manager is awful and rude, they told me for $50 you can have a 5 min massage on your feet or leg- you pick. Have never been to a place to get a pedicure and then say.. foot massage is not included. read more

Thank you Dan & Cindy for doing a wonderful job on my nails for my son's wedding. I have never chosen powder dipped French nails before, and it was VERY hard to relax and sit still with all the wedding excitement, but they came out amazing and are still beautiful a week later. read more

I have finally found a nail salon that I love. The salon is nice and clean, decorated really pretty and have some of the most amazing people there. My nail tech is Jenny. Jenny takes her time and make sure that you're happy with her work before leaving the salon. So this was my normal spot and I've had multiple walk in's and gotten taken care of within about 20 mins. I have always loved their color selection and their customer service. However, every time I get Tina, she abuses my nail beds or actually cuts me. This week I went for a superior manicure to clean up my nail beds and left with 4 actual burning and bleeding cuts on the tips of my nails. I told her when she hurt me and jumped once. The last time I got dip and she sanded my nail bed until it burned so bad I had to pull my hand away. I am not expecting to ever return again because I draw the line since a regular manicure should not have caused me so much pain. read more

I really wanted to like this place. Went in for the first time last Saturday and by Wednesday my Shellac Manicured nails were already starting to come up at the cuticle. I have been searching for a place close to home but I will have to find some place else. I've had Shellac nails before and they have all lasted at least two weeks. Definitely not worth the money. The overall place is really nice but it's definitely not worth the money if it's only going to last not even a week. read more

I'm gonna give 3 stars for cleanliness....I see lots of good reviews but maybe I came on a bad day. I was just wanting a toe nail paint because I had a meeting to be at. Greeting was not really a greeting...maybe they thought I didn't have money...but for the 10 dollar paint I had a 6.00 tip in my hand...I didn't think Cindy spoke English untill I heard her ask another lady if she wanted water...I however wasn't even asked my name. Needless to say I won't return...my first impression is usually my lasting impression. read more

We LOVE Valerie's! The staff is always so polite and fun, and I get compliments on my nails all the time! Valerie and her staff are very professional and she truly cares about her customers. The salon is clean, they have an amazing selection of colors (I always get the Nexgen nails and I have never been disappointed), and they make you feel "at home" while you are there. I recently hosted a holiday party with some girlfriends and Valerie and her staff were so sweet and everyone really enjoyed their pedicures! Love this place! Valerie & Donny are always a pleasure, they keep a wide selection of my dipping powders and gets new colors often! I love how strong the dipping has made my real nails! The Nu-skin pedicure is my favorite! I used to have such dry skin on my heels no matter how much lotion I applied daily but with this, NO MORE! Even got a bottle of the foot balm to take home it and I'll great on my cuticles too! Keeps everything soft and smooth! Would definitely recommend this place! read more

Went back after a two year break as I don't live in the area. I received Excellent prompt service. My nail tech was great and I would recommend if you want a Nice Experience you try this establishment. I was Not pressured to get extra things and they asked me if I was Happy/Satisfied prior to paying I'm going to go back when I return in a month or so. read more

2 pm Wednesday: great service! My husband & I just got pedicures. His was w wax dip & hot stone massage $5 extra; mine simple classic. For the two of us = $63 plus a $10 tip totaled $73. A bit pricey for us. Tracy in Katy was $20 then $22 in the years we went to her but seems times have changed. Owner friendly w hugs. All sweet smiles. Clean. Good massage chairs. Never exactly what I ask for but I never wanted to sit and complain and waste time trying to get things exactly right. But I cannot be silent any longer and will no longer be coming here. I went in November for the first time in ten months for lashes. I showed her what I wanted, then I showed her what I DIDN'T want. I was told I needed the volume lashes. I don't know a thing about the different kinds of lashes so I said ok sure you're the professional. I get up to see my lashes were EXACTLY what I DIDN'T want. I do not like the fluffy look and volume is exactly that. She told me she could try to fix it. It still wasn't good because it was the total wrong type of lash (I later learned). So she told me to come back and she'll fix it when she had more time. So I went back a few days later and she completely removed the lashes and used faux mink which is what I normally use! It was much better and closer to what I asked for. But I was never refunded the price difference. I realized this and was told they wouldn't refund me the difference but would keep the credit on my account for when I went back to apply to a refill. Four weeks later I go in for a refill. I used my little coupon card I'd had for over a year because I hardly go, it was 20% off after 5 visits. They charged me 65$. Before tip. I thought it was odd because it seemed more than what it should be with my 20% AND 20$ credit. I even asked the girl if she saw the credit on my account to use and she said yes. I went home and didn't have time during the holidays to check the prices. But I did today and had to call right away. I asked what I was charged for specifically. They said 75$ faux mink refill. She told me they used 10$ credit because they no longer do 20% off after five visits, they do 10$. She never told me that when I was paying. Then she told me the 20$ credit was not used and was still on my account. She then talked to her boss, Sydney, who told her I can use it next time I go in. Um no. I won't be going in again. I talked to Sydney before my refill about being overcharged for volume/lashes I never wanted and she was the one who accredited 20$ to my account and told me to use it towards my refill. And now she changed her words and said "you can only use it with the girl who initially did your lashes". She is really trying to rip me off to spend more money there to avoid refunding me what I was overcharged. I'm REALLY not someone who complains or rants or fights for anything when it comes to business but this is insane and wrong. I'll never go back. They will be reported to the BBB and yeah just trying to warn people. PLEASE IF YOU GO HERE MAKE SURE YOU ARE BEING CHARGED THE CORRECT AMOUNT AND DON'T LET THEM TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR IGNORANCE. The two stars is for there last person who did my refill she was SO FAST and good and even the other girl they are friendly but watch out for being sold on something you don't actually need bc or want.

I showed the nail technician a photo of red chrome nails with the middle two nails having red French tips, which would be my Valentine's Day nails. She told me she could do it. I even left the photo up on my phone for some time so that she can reference it, if needed. As I saw her painting the red French tips, I informed her that they were a different shade of red from the other nails. She showed me the two products (gel and powder) and that they are the same shade number. I proceeded to let her finish as I thought that the end results may be different. It was not. She then added the "chrome" finish. I told her that it wasn't shiny at all nor looked like chrome and had a pearlescent finish instead. She told me that it was very popular with clients. She absolutely disregarded what I was saying to her. She also cut my skin while running the drill alongside my cuticles. At this point, the manager entered the conversation. I showed him the picture and he told me that the photos found online for inspiration "all have filters on them." He pretty much sided with the technician and saw no wrong. They both then told me to go wash my hands and see how the nails look in the sun. I did so and saw no difference from when I was seated at my chair. I was baffled that the manager could not see what was wrong. He did not offer to rectify the situation. I even asked for another type of coat that would make my nails shiny. They could not offer that to me for whatever reason. I clearly walked out with hideous nails. Even if I find someone who can replicate a photo here, the management alone would be reason not to go here. I paid for my service here out of respect for their time, but will not be returning and I urge others to do the same. Please see the photos I have provided.

I do feel like it's partly on me for not speaking up before I left, but I was running late for the wedding because the appointment took longer than I expected. I really wanted to love my lashes, but they weren't what I was hoping for. They felt very stiff, and it seemed like several extensions were stuck together. They poked my eyes when I blinked, looked clumped rather than wispy, and I couldn't brush through them to separate them. I even waited more than three days before getting them wet because I was worried about them, but many of the extensions still fell out without me rubbing or touching my eyes. At this point, I'm almost afraid to and I'm honestly embarrassed that I spent $130 just to feel like I look goofy on my birthday. I was really looking forward to feeling confident, and instead I feel self-conscious every time I look in the mirror and i feel like I have to hide them behind eyeliner. On a positive note, the salon itself is beautiful, and everyone I interacted with was kind and welcoming. I truly wish my lashes had matched the quality of the experience otherwise.

We were walk-in's and sadly disappointed when Jenny asked if we could come back in 3 hrs. 3 HOURS?! We both agreed it would be to our benefit because the salon felt so warm and inviting. We respected the honesty that Jenny gave us, her honest response was they couldn't take us at that time 1. Don't tell us "30 minutes" and the wait be 1 1/2 hrs ( yall know that's how they do). #2. Respect the next appointment scheduled, people have stuff to do. #3. Don't rush through our service because you wanna make a dollar and slop up our toes (men have feet fetishes, we both single soooo). REAL talk! Upon our return, our techs was waiting on us. They took their time, made sure we liked our colors, chiseled our calluses and made sure we were completely satisfied with service rendered. The nail salon is old school, they still use Wide Rule tablets and pencils at least that cuts down on overhead prices which passes down to the customers. Shellac nail polish take off is on $5 and shalac polish $7 ( I think) all VERY old school prices. I had a broken toenail to replace was only $5 and my tech built me a new toenail free hand. NOT all techs can do that, I usually tell techs to put a fake nail because I want both toes to match they MUST look flawless. We was so happy with our service that my good friend returned 2 days later for a manicure. I should've written a review a long time ago & apologize to Valerie & Donny for not doing so sooner. I've been a customer of Valerie's since she worked for the original manager of the nail salon in the Kroger shopping center. I'm thrilled she opened her own salon & wouldn't dream of seeing anyone else. I always have Valerie apply dip powder on my nails, which are real (no tips, unless I break one). The dip powder seems to be the best solution that keeps them sturdy & strong. Some people show their nails just after they're done. Of course they look good! But 2 weeks later?... a gazillion key strokes, driving, cooking, dishes, laundry, gardening, etc.?! The picture demonstrates just how perfectly applied the dip powder is. It doesn't lose its shine, it doesn't crack, or chip, or lift. I prefer shellac on my toes because the pedi lasts longer (especially using a pumice stone in the shower & lotion on @ night). Valerie & Donny are never EVER pushy w/ up-selling, unlike so many other places. Everyone there is superb @ regular mani / pedis whether polish or shellac. Definitely call ahead for a dip powder appointment, as it requires more time than shellac. They have VERY reasonable prices & are conveniently located. I've also had facial waxing done & have never had an issue w/ the wax being too hot, my skin getting irritated (much less ripped off & scabbing over), or staying red for 3 days. I hope everyone in the area starts going here. Valerie & Donny are wonderful people, provide stellar services, & absolutely 100% deserve to succeed as business owners. All these 5 star reviews are true. You won't be disappointed. read more

Love love love this place and you should definitely go here. The nail techs are so sweet and make you feel comfortable and mostly relaxed. Glass of wine is awesome too. Nails always look amazing and would highly recommend the dip powder for nails. read more

Angel is amazing! She takes her time and makes sure they are perfect! I had tried one of the chain lash places not impressed but when I went to Valerie's, Angel by far exceeded my expectations! Would recommend Valerie's any day! read more
