I have been coming to Wanderlust on and off for a few months now. I typically do like the end results of my manicure and pedicure. This time, however, made me view the salon and management differently. I showed the nail technician a photo of red chrome nails with the middle two nails having red French tips, which would be my Valentine's Day nails. She told me she could do it. I even left the photo up on my phone for some time so that she can reference it, if needed. As I saw her painting the red French tips, I informed her that they were a different shade of red from the other nails. She showed me the two products (gel and powder) and that they are the same shade number. I proceeded to let her finish as I thought that the end results may be different. It was not. She then added the "chrome" finish. I told her that it wasn't shiny at all nor looked like chrome and had a pearlescent finish instead. She told me that it was very popular with clients. She absolutely disregarded what I was saying to her. She also cut my skin while running the drill alongside my cuticles. At this point, the manager entered the conversation. I showed him the picture and he told me that the photos found online for inspiration "all have filters on them." He pretty much sided with the technician and saw no wrong. They both then told me to go wash my hands and see how the nails look in the sun. I did so and saw no difference from when I was seated at my chair. I was baffled that the manager could not see what was wrong. He did not offer to rectify the situation. I even asked for another type of coat that would make my nails shiny. They could not offer that to me for whatever reason. I clearly walked out with hideous nails. Even if I find someone who can replicate a photo here, the management alone would be reason not to go here. I paid for my service here out of respect for their time, but will not be returning and I urge others to do the same. Please see the photos I have provided. read more

I loved this cute little shop in Richmond. The shop was clean, organized and bright with floral decor and a flower wall. There are about 10 chairs total which I like better than those large scale nail salons. It was relatively quiet which helped me relax. When I go to those large nail salon it's too chaotic, crowded and overwhelming for me. They do have tv and music playing but not blasting. Kay was very sweet and gentle with my feet. Wow I just moved to the area from San Antonio and was worried about finding a new salon. My boyfriend and I came on a Friday afternoon for pedicures and we're so glad we did! The place is super cute. Right when you come in you are asked to wash your hands - I personally like that. Prices are VERY reasonable. $30 for basic pedicure and I got shellac on my toes for only $20 extra. Compared to SA prices, I'm definitely here for it! Also the quality of the pedicure and quality of products is pretty great. The only downside is no complimentary drinks but to be honest, that doesn't really bother me. Customer service was great and they have a loyalty rewards program using your phone number. Plenty of colors to choose from. I'll definite be a repeat customer!!!!!! read more

Just want to give a HUGE HUGE HUGE shoutout to hunter! The best nail tech I have ever seen! My nails are always looking amazing and I get the most compliments on not only the design on them but of how well he does. He takes his time to make sure every nail is perfectly shaped. Don't know his name, but he's always the one sitting there on his phone. Anyways, one of my nails broke after only getting them done a week. This never happens and I don't know what the policies are to when I can get it repaired before I have to pay. So I made sure to make an appointment within the week I originally got them done. I never have time to get my nails done during the week because of my work schedule and other things I have to have completed throughout the week for work and school but as I have stated, I don't know the policies about payments and time of repairs so I made an appointment after work. When coming into my appointment, Hunter was working with someone else. Not sure if it was an appointment or walk in but either way I'm unsure why they told me it was okay to have my 5:30 appointment if that client was an appointment or if they given hunter a walk-in when I had the appointment placed. The receptionist told me to wait on the couches. I sat, he said I'll soak your nails till he's done. I told him I didn't have time to wait and asked how long he would take to finish the other clients nails. He never answered my question and said he would soak my nails so when hunter is done, he could just start doing my nails. I asked again, when he would be done because I don't have time to even wait 10-15 mins for Hunter to complete her nails to then start mine.... Basically saying I don't see a point in soaking my nail if I can't see him in 10-15 mins. I understand it gets busy but I made an appointment so I wouldn't have to wait. The receptionist started giving me attitude, crossing his arms, and saying 'you're nails are gonna take longer than 10 mins to do'. like no fucking shit. I'm sorry, but seriously. I replied with 'yes I know but I made an appointment to see hunter at 5:30. I seriously don't have time to sit in wait for a while for him.' He goes 'well what time is it.' I said 'it's 5:30' And he kept responding with I'll soak your nails and he'll see you when he's able to basically and then proceeded to say do you not understand. And yes that small comment pissed me the fuck off. So I will say after that I wasn't as nice towards him and stated 'you do realize I made an appointment because my nail broke not even a week having them. That's why I made the appointment. I don't have time to just sit and wait for him to finish and then start mine.' And he says 'if you don't have time you can leave.' So I left. Didn't get my nail fixed. I've been here for the last three years and it's been great so far. One recent visit was during covid19 last month for a pedi only. Not sure how this place is 4.5 stars. Nails look okay from far away, but up close powder is not clean. You can see the white sprinkled through where it's supposed to be clear. GIRRRRRLLLL. This is the place. They have superb customer service and they know what they are doing! My four kids and I decided to walk in and were immediately greeted by Mark. I had a hangnail that was causing some discomfort, and I was worried about getting an artificial full set. He reassured me and even went as far as to examining my nails to confirm that it would be fine. Mark was so kind, friendly, and very welcoming. He went around, making sure that everyone was well taken care of. He also conversed with my children, making them feel very comfortable and welcomed. The decor in this shop is amazing! They have their iconic rose wall - absolutely instagram worthy and just a beauty to stare at. The shop is a bit small, but let me just say this - they had OLD SCHOOL RNB jamming in the back! I was helped by nail technician, Uy, and he took care of me and exceeded my expectations. I wanted short, coffin nails (dip powder) with a subtle, milky like appearance. He showed me different samples to make sure I was happy with it before proceeding. Uy shaped the nails beautifully, and was very precise on making sure the nails looked perfect. We didn't talk much, but I didn't have a problem with that at all. Uy was very gentle when working on my nails - I didn't even feel the slightest discomfort from my hangnail. My daughters were taken care of a young female technician (I didn't get her name), and she did a great job! My daughters loved her and couldn't stop admiring their nails! Everyone was so kind, and treated my daughters no different than their adult customers. The technicians didn't make me feel uncomfortable - they didn't appear to have big talk/gossip which made me feel more relaxed. LOVE LOVE LOVE everything about my experience! I usually don't leave reviews but Linh and Vi both were so gentle and really took their time when doing my nails. They did everything perfectly without me ever having to say anything! For my pedicure I went with the Volcano which was really cool and fizzy. It includes hot rocks, hot wax, scrub and ended with a massage. The whole nine yards. For my manicure, I chose to do dip and their color selection a lot larger than I anticipated and even had a nice mauvey green for the fall. Pleasant atmosphere. Average level of nail care for natural nails. A little bit more expensive than I thought it should be for manicure and pedicure. I guess no one takes the time to soak shellac polish off anymore. The lady who did manicure did soak my fingertips briefly, then scraped and sanded with the electric buffer...it was removing the polish as well as a layer of healthy nails leaving the nails thinner and more easily broken. It was beginning to feel a bit sore, so I stopped her on several nails and told her it was fine if some of the previous color was left in place. My nails are pretty broken this week after the experience so, I'll be taking a break from manicures for a while but Will keep looking for a nail technician to replace my old one who moved out of the country. To preface, I was late and they allowed me to come in for my appointment which was much appreciated. The reason for the one star. Now, I asked for an acrylic ombré overlay to my natural nail. During the appointment they rushed and damaged my nails using the electric file instead of soaking first. My nails looked horrible! One was crooked and when I brought it to her attention, she told me my nail was shaped‍. I also asked for a shellac pedi. Again no soaking just electric file. During the process I was burned several times. Fast forward to the end. The bill came to 132 dollars for a basic shellac pedi and overlay. PLUS, they automatically added a 20% tip. I was so irritated and ready to leave I signed and left. Stay away!!! read more

I went in for a French Shellac manicure, wanted two nails in white and the rest in the colored pictured. Manicurist could not understand and insisted in adding a pink base coat. I explained that I did not want the pink base coat because it would be too much pink and that I just wanted the clear base coat. After this, management and her got into a HEATED ARGUMENT/DISCUSSION in front of me, which resulted in RUSHED AND POOR QUALITY WORK WHICH I HAD TO PAY FULL PRICE FOR, not to mention the tension throughout the appointment. This is not the type of treatment or work that anyone that goes to a nail salon expects, as this is an elective/luxury or unneeded procedure. So I'm going for good work and to relax, not to feel horrible and stressed during the whole appointment, get poor quality work and still pay as if I had a great experience. This is not a money issue is more of a work ethics issue as I'm more than prepared to spend money for something I want. But this place's work ethic is poor. read more
