Spoke to manager and asked him when was his gas station calibrated last time with department of weights and measurements to ensure it measured gas properly. I did say it seemed that very little gas came out certainly not 1.2 gallons. He said it's none of my business and he will not show me or discuss it! I had troubles with my card and I as at the pump a couple min before the rep with big dried out curls came to ask me if everything is okay I stayed yes! Then she said well you can't park here. Clearly she seen me on a call and there was nobody in line for my pump , in fact there were 3 other her pumps open . I'm not sure if she was just been a hag, racists, or just hate her job so much she has to try and bring her negative energy upon someone. Rarely do I think to write a review for a gas station, but really feel this one warrants it. For starters, they seem to have lower prices than just about any station around and these days, you have to bargain shop gas! They are located at a major intersection like most gas stations and easily accessible. It's a smaller gas station but I pulled in and was able to pull right up to a filling station despite all the other ones being occupied. They accept Apple Pay so I was able to use that right at the pump with my phone. The pumps are fast! Some pumps seem to take an extraordinarily long time filling, but these pumps are fast! The nozzles fit well so you can click the handle on "auto" and standby while it fills up. And when I was finished and put the nozzle back, my receipt printed right out. So many gas stations force you to go into the store where they are hoping for an "impulse buy" while you wait to get your receipt. And the pump outside doesn't force you to answer a dozen questions about signing up for something before you can pump your gas. Just swipe your card (or phone if you have Apple Pay) and fill up. That simple. There is a convenience store but I didn't go inside. At the pumps, there are squeegees and paper towels to clean off your windows and over all, the station has a very clean appearance to it. Simplicity is key and this station offers that and quick service for a fair price. read more

Yeah, this place is convenient but it's not worth it. The gas machines have skimmers that steal your information, the worst part is that the workers do nothing about it. Also me and my son were just in there and we got gas. I understand that there isn't a public restroom. However it was an emergency and it was clearly an emergency and the older man said no we don't have a bathroom here. I said yes you do, come on he's really going to pee his pants, can you please let him use the restroom. And he said no we walk two blocks to use the bathroom at this other place. And I said come on every time you have to pee you walk two blocks do you shut the gas station down? Anyway long story short my son peed his pants right there and the worker didn't care one bit. Located right of Texas Street, access is ok. The prices are pretty reasonable but not the best. The convenience store has no public restroom!!!! Amenities include an ATM, a Coke machine, American propane cylinder exchange or fill up. No diesel. I would like to give a five star rating but the high cost of gas causes me to have reservations so a4 star rating it is. read more

Today I bought $68 worth of gas on my debit card. Later that evening I discovered they had put a $150 hold on the account! Straw that broke the Camel's back because the employee's are rude, the soda's are often past the expiration date, and the pumps regularly run out of paper for receipts. What's there to say about a gas station? For me, it's all about the price and ease of getting in and out. This store gets A+++ for price because $3.49 a gallon is the cheapest I've paid since moving to San Diego 2 years ago. (if only they had this price near my home!) So just want to say That for whatever reason Valero never seems to read my card and I always have to "see cashier"... Very annoying but whatever, the price I pay for convenience I suppose. One of there pumps at this Valero had a chip reader on it and I got caught. I've stopped twice to let them know I'd been hacked at one of their pumps. Both counter staff gave me the official handbook answer "we are Only responsible for what happens in the shop not for anything that happens outside ". (From the cash register they face out the door to the pump the chip reader was on.) Seems like they could maybe say yes, yes we will let the owner know instead of stand there and cover their asses. As far as gas stations are concerned, this place pretty much blows ass. The people working are pretty lame, they're always out of ordinary products... like gum and most brands of water... and it can be a pain in the ass to get out of that joint during rush hour traffic. This used to be a great Valero station. Then its ownership changed hands. Now everything you do is loaded with tax-cheating bullshit and credit card hatred. Screw you, Texas Street Valero. I use a gas-discounting credit card. So what do you do? You friggin' remove your old pumps and you go to split pricing. Cash is cheap, credit is expensive, and debit can MAYBE get the cash price. This gas station puts up to a $100 hold on cards, wether it's debit or credit. I am living in SD because of work and my bank is a foreign bank and the hold they place is usually for longer than a week. When you call them to ask for information they blame your bank, ironically I work in finance and I know it is not the issuing banks problem. They currently have a $200 hold on my account and not only will they not release it, they haven't even charged my card for the actual amount of gas I purchased. Once they charge it'll be that plus the hold that I will be short on. read more

They are ripping customers off. First I notice that they add tax to my coffee purchase. I informed them that coffee is not taxed at convenience stores in california. All they did was argue with me. Then when I looked at the receipt closely, I noticed that they are charging the wrong tax rate. They are charging 8.75% instead of 7.75%. This Valero station just has a small convenient store. According to Gas Buddy, it is below the average price compared to other gas stations in the area. It is in one of the most awkward spots I would believe a gas station could be. Situated right on Texas street before heading north into Mission Valley towards the 8 freeway, it is not the best spot to go to when there is a lot of traffic. Also, the layout is difficult to maneuver through if even half the station is being utilized by other customers. You will also be charged extra for not using cash. Overall, if you are looking to save gas and even paying with card, this is a good place to go to save a few bucks. However, there are also other Valero stations that are not too far away where the traffic is not as congested depending what time of day it is. read more

I have been going to this gas station for 8 years. The other day, I went there to get gas and got an urgent phone call. So I parked in a parking space. The phone call took a while and so I ended up parking there for about 15 min. Then one of the members of the family that owns and runs this place came out and walked up to my car holding a gun case in his hands, and lifted the gun case up to show me through the car window. I couldn't believe that he tried to intimidate me in such a way. If he wanted me to leave, all he had to do was ask, and be cool about it. I will not be buying gas from these guys anymore. It's a gas station alright...The tiny convenience store inside has a little bit of everything even as small as it is. Cash or Debit cards will get your gas 10 cents a gallon cheaper. The other Valero on University and Texas has higher prices so I'll drive down the street to this one as it isn't that out of the way and worth it. There are 2 separate areas to fuel up with 4 pumps each. It's on a traffic congested corner of Texas and Madison Ave so try to avoid it during rush hour if you can. This came up as one of the cheaper gas stations so I went there to top off my rental before returning it. My top off was less than $5.00 but on my credit card Valero does a pending charge of $100.00! What is that?! All other gas stations charge $1.00 until they clear the actual charge except this one. I have never heard of this til now. So note to self if you're ok with a pending charge of $100.00 for a couple dollars from Valero no worries but if you are not comfortable with this, as I am, I would stay away from this place! My fiancé drives way out of the way to come to this station. I don't get it. The station is fine. Cheapish. But I'd just go to the cheapish place by my house. The only real asset for me is their location, being on the corner of Texas and that M-street (Madison, Monroe,?? always forget)...otherwise, it's just a gas station. The people inside are friendly-enough, never rude. There are drinks and whatnot for the buying....but the annoying televisions they put in that play loudly while you pump, I could do without. I think they are just there to distract you from watching how much money you're putting into your tank. I have heard, though it's a rumor I've not substantiated, that Valero did support Prop 8...so, for that reason, I do try to go AM/PM when I can. read more

Filled up on diesel on 3/24/17 for a great price. next day all my warning lights went off for water in the fuel. Took the truck into the Ford Dealer they had to drop the fuel tank and clean the whole fuel system. Said it was from BAD fuel. I always use Valero Gas Stations however this one Valero on Texas and Madison it just always makes me go inside in order to use my debit card. The cashier guy told me its probably because I have less then a hundred dollars in my account. I explained that was not true and he stated maybe I should use the atm in there to confirm he was right!
