Oh boy! Where to begin? I normally don't complain, but this was unbelievable. We went Sunday for lunch. We were seated outside and sat there for 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. A couple were seated after we arrived and given chips and drinks. Finally a waitress set chips and salsa at our table and I told her we were ready to order. She said "yeah OK" and walked to the table of the couple that was seated after us and proceeded to take their order then left. Had to flag down a waitress 10 minutes later to take our order. Menu says homemade tortillas on Saturday Sunday, waitress said we don't have any left. Ordered chicken enchiladas with a side of soup, they brought cheese enchiladas and no soup. 30 minutes later the waitress set the soup on the table in a to go bag with the check. Never refilled a drink or offered. When we got home the chicken tortilla soup was just broth with slices of avocados. Zero chicken zero vegetables. Will never ever ever ever go here again. Sad because I went here a few years ago and it was amazing. read more

I was in town today and was referred here by a local. He first suggested El Prescador, but I asked him were he ate and responded with Vallarta Restaurant. I wasn't disappointed. The service was very friendly, but a little absent on account that it was really busy. The Chips and Salsa was very, very good. I wish I could get a bottle of the Salsa to take home. The waiter brought out the spicy Salsa which was equally as good. I mixed the hot with the mild and it was even better. The Shredded Beef Taco was nice and crispy and had a great flavor, and the Chili Relleno was even better with perfect texture and just the right amount of heat. The standard rice and beans were anything but, and were also quite good. I usually pass through Fillmore, rarely stopping, but now that I have found this place, I will regularly stop here! Wanted so much to love this place. Just ate a very bland chile verde burrito. If the owner listens to his customers he will add some fire to his food. The wife's combo plate suffered in the same way. I can tell that you are old school Mexican and I know that is the old school way but speaking on behalf of all gringos please add some spice. If you could just ask the customer if they want it mild or spicy that would solve this problem. I am a business man who loves Mexican food and I am giving you the 3 stars because I can tell that you are running an extremely clean place and the food was cooked perfectly. I've been here twice and each time something has gone wrong with my meal. The first time I had asked for no rice in my burrito, and the complete opposite was done; it tasted as though my burrito was at least 70% rice. The second time I ordered to go, and again I had an issue with the rice. This time I got the lobster enchiladas which are fairly small, and the rice and beans that came with the plate were preheated in the microwave and lacked flavor. The rice was clumped together and was very hard at the center. They also do not give free refills. Both experiences were terrible and the service isn't that great either. You can definitely ell it's Americanized Mexican food and lacks all authenticity. read more

This used to be our favorite Mexican restaurant My husband and I would drive out of our way to experience the authentic flavors at this wonderfully kitschy place. Our recent visits, however, have been incredibly disappointing.I always look forward to the Carnitas.The first of our disappointing visits they were very dry and the last visit they were out of them completely! Out of Carnita's at a Mexican restaurant early on a Saturday evening, located in a Hispanic community. Come on! The service was questionable and plate that my husband had been ordering the same way for years, suddenly came into question by the waitress. This place is simply amazing. I moved to Fillmore a couple of months ago and after trying ALL (2) restaurants in town, Vallarta has my vote :) I've tried the buritos (chili verde & asada - both excellent, taco's, tamales, & diablo shrimp plate.. everything is so tasty and perfectly prepared. The service and staff are so friendly, helpful, and prompt.Shout out to Hugo for making such delicious margaritas and providing the warmest welcomes! Family owned and relaxed atmosphere combined with authentic, reasonably priced food. What more could you ask for? We live in Santa Clarita and when when we crave Mexican food we drive to Fillmore for Vallarta's rather than have Mexican food where we live. I used used to come here everytime I came to 805 for a drink. The prices are sky high and the margaritas are not good anymore. You way better off going to El Pescador down the street. Same prices same drinks better food better mixes. read more

I came for lunch on Taco Tuesday. Wow, it knocked my socks off. I wish I had more, but I had one each of carne asada, pollo, carnitas, and al pastor. All of them were delicious, only a dollar each. Best dollars to flavor ratio I have had in a long time. I would say that my favorite was the carnitas, with al pastor a close second. Restaurant was clean, service top notch. Almost stopped at "el pescador" because of their advertising along the road but it was super packed, so instead opted for this place and boy am i glad we did! it's a little hole on the wall no doubt and if ur driving fast you'll probably miss it, but we had been curious to check it out for a while and on memorial day we said let's do it. We started with queso fundido with chorizo, then my hubby had the albondiga soup which he liked, then he got a 2 med size chicken burrito plate with green chili and he really enjoyed them along with a strawberry margarita which i totally approve of, because u can actually taste the liquor. I ordered the mojarra frita which was amazing and their rice tasted homemade, not like your typical restaurant rice which I always skip at other mexican restaurants. We really enjoyed their chips and 3 different salsas they had. Everything was very fresh and might I ad that service was fast, attentive and very courteous! We'll definitely be returning and trying their other dishes soon. read more

My wife was told about this restaurant by a friend, and since we were on our way to the Polar Express ride nearby, we decided to stop for dinner. In short, it was excellent. The restaurant was clean and the hostess at the front door was attentive and got us a table quickly. After being seated, it was no more than three minutes before a drink order was taken; chips and salsa arrived about two minutes after the drinks. The service was excellent. The waiter was personable and very attentive to our requests. He kept our drinks filled and the tortilla chips/salsa consistently ful.. Dinner was excellent. Between the six people in my family, we had a nice mix of various types of food and all of it was well prepared and well presented. Will definitely eat there again. read more

We have been regulars here for years and it just occurred to me that I've never taken the time to write a well deserved 5 Star review for Vallarta! The food is consistently terrific, delivered quickly and piping hot. And the prices are very reasonable. But even better than the food is the staff. Hugo, Angie, Monique, Ricky - they all make us feel like we're stepping into their home when we have dinner there. They are all so warm and welcoming and their attention to detail is second to none. The margaritas are hard to beat! Hugo is the margarita master! If you like real Mexican food in a family atmosphere and the best margaritas out there, this place is for you! There's no comparison between Vallarta and El Pescador. Vallarta wins hands down - better food, better service, less expensive! read more

This place is the real deal. Been here about 5 times so far. They have always been super friendly, but the main reason for the 5 star review, obviously, is the food. Sorry I don't have a pic to post. Great prices, incredible value. The burritos are awesome and huge! Good carnitas. They know what they are doing. Come out, have a great lunch (come on weekends when they have fresh homemade corn tortillas). If you have kids, stop by the farmers stands, the fish hatchery where they can feed the trout, and the honey farm. Fun little day. read more

I had the Chile Relleno Combo plate and a coup of there Chicken Soup. It was my first time eating there and I was not impressed at all! The only thing I ate there that I really liked was the chips ans salsa. The chips looked and tasted fresh, they were warm and that salsa had a good flavor. I started off with some type of chicken soup. First off the check broth was really bland! It needed salt. They added avocado to the soup and I would have to admit that the avocado helped a bit. The chicken in the soup was tough. It was like they used day old chicken? I was not impressed with the soup at all! The Chile Relleno plate was not vary good at all also! The re-fried beans were just a brown mush!! It kind of looked like what came out of my calves when they were sick. There was not flavor at all! The rice was bland also. The Chile Relleno's were good some what. The chili's were really hot, Spicy hot!! I don't think they cleaned all the seed's out of the chili? I had to drink a few cups of my Horchata to get the heat out of my mouth! It's to bad to because it was the only thing on the plate that I enjoyed. The chili's were tender, stuffed with plenty of cheese, they did a good job with the egg batter and they were fried well. I did enjoy the Horchata. The waitress did an all job. There were only 2 of us at our table and our waitress gave my uncle my plate and his plate to me. I don't blame her to much, the place was packed and who know's how many table's she had? Plus it was really noisy!! I really don't see how any one can really work in that place and hear one another! It could be the reason she got my order wrong, she did not hear who ordered what?! Went to a league football game in Fillmore yesterday and wanted to grab a bite to eat after the game, before heading back to LA. Went to Vallarta Restaurant. As we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the host, and then quickly seated. The friendly waitress quickly greeted us and asked what we would like to drink. She then took our order. My son had the fish ceviche and my husband and I shared the lobster enchiladas dinner. The nice waitress brought us 2 salads since she knew we were sharing a dinner. The salad had tomatoes and croutons, and lots of yummy bleu cheese. The enchiladas were very good. My son loved the ceviche. The staff said goodbye and the host asked us to come back again. A very friendly little establishment, and we will return next week before the championship football game. If you are passing through Fillmore or you live in or near Fillmore, I recommend Vallarta. read more

Amazing. Great attentive service. Chips and salsa right away with delicious homemade salsa verde (medium hot) and red mild. Had corn taquitos with beans and cheese on top with guac on the side. Huge portion and hot and fresh. My guy had a large seafood cocktail filled to the brim with shrimp, octopus and scallops. Went here on Easter with my boyfriend and had a great time! It wasn't too busy, either, which was a surprise, but everyone was so friendly and you could tell everyone there was enjoying themselves. Food was quick and tasted delicious!!! Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the waitresses were all very nice. This place deserves the full Five Stars. Jugo Is their top waiter and one of the most customer service oriented people we have met. The food is wonderful and the margaritas are world-famous. After driving one month by this place decided to give it a try it looks small from the outside but once you go inside it is very spacious and nicely laid out we were greeted and sat down chips and salsa were served I ordered fish a la Diabla with French fries which was very good ordered a two taco beef combo with rice n beans for my mom she said it was very good the only down fall were the canned refried beans and the service which I can understand since the place was busy will definitely be back and highly recommend read more
