Let me just say that Vallejo Great Donuts saved me from a possible abduction. I had dropped my car off to get some work done and started walking to my destination, going down Tennessee. I stopped here because Royal Jelly Donuts is still moving into their new location and haven't opened yet. While the people are very nice and the prices are more than reasonable, the donuts were just unacceptable. The previous review about them tasting like they were fried in bio-diesel fuel is MORE than accurate. I bought a dozen for me and my family and not even my 6 year old niece wanted to finish hers--that's how awful they are. I can't speak for the donuts here because I am not a donut person and would never order them, however, we came here for the Aussie meat pies and were not disappointed at all! They were delicious, very authentic and inexpensive. It is the ONLY place you can really find them even close to the Bay Area without having to pre-order them (with the exception of a place in San Jose and Commonwealth in Oakland). I definitely recommend the sausage roll--so yummy! Even their drip coffee was decent and only $1.50 for a cup, which they allowed me to refill on my way out. My absolute favorite breakfast place in Vallejo. My partner and I get the ham egg and cheese on a cheese bagel and the breakfast burrito with jalapeños and no meat- they're amazing every time. Freshly made and delicious. There can be a bit of a wait but it's always worth it and there's plenty of places to sit while you wait. This place is just okay. Nothing really to rave about. I've had the veggie pasty and it's nothing to write home about. It was soggy and limp. I was expecting crisp and flaky. The raspberry jelly donut was too tart and I personally don't like seeded jelly. So that was a bust. I decided to give this place another try today and ordered a breakfast croissant with egg, tomato and cheese. I was disappointed when it was brought to my table limp and flattened. Croissant sandwiches are normally flaky and warm. This one was cold, limp and sad. They use those terrible processed Kraft singles. I took one bite and wrapped it up. $5.50 is a bit pricey to boot. So, let me tell you how I found this shop AFTER going to both Royal Jelly Donut locations and was told they didn't accept debit. I'm not really sure who STILL only accepts cash, being that we live in a digital age ((rolls eyes)) but i digress. I walked in and seen an array of donuts, and although I was a little skeptical... I'm SO glad I tried them! These donuts are AMAZING!!! They're soft, chewy and have a slight crunch from the well balanced (sweet and slightly salted) glaze. I hate Glazed donuts that are super sweet and have zero salt added, because if you bake you know that you need salt to bring out the sugar. Their donut batter is perfectly balanced! I found my new shop! This is where I'll be going from now on. I can't remember the young mans name at the register, with the dope Mohawk... but his customer service was on point! My first time in the shop yesterday. It was super dingy and no employees in sight and I should have known to just walk right back out. The donuts looked 2 or 3 days old but I still picked one out and paid for it. I then asked to wash my hands which the lady agreed to and from the sink came DOZENS of nasty flies swarming all around my head! I was so disgusted I just walked out without saying a word and threw the donut in the trash. This shop is filthy and a real health hazard. It's in a slightly bad neighborhood and there was a guy that was acting strangely and talking to himself at another table. That being said, the lady behind the counter was more than nice, & heated up my friend a tasty meat pie. He didn't rave about it, but said it hit the spot. Dug the wide variety of warm, fresh tasting donuts to choose from. Picked out a custard filled glazed that made the taste buds say, " More please." I just found this place this morning while searching for bagels. I swear nobody sells bagels in Vallejo so I was happy to hear this place made their own. The gentleman at the counter was really nice and polite and I ended up getting an Asiago bagel with cream cheese, a half dozen of donut holes, a coffee, and a sausage roll all for under $7. My son and I sat down to eat and everything was nice and clean. The texture of the donuts are great. They have a slight crispiness but once you get past the crispy bite, the smell of rancid oil fills up your mouth and nostrils. Ordered from these guys through Doordash. We ordered some cake donuts, expecting some random cake donuts with glaze on them or something. They sent plain dry cake donuts (I guess we got what we ordered =/ ). This is not the first time we've ordered from them, most donuts we get from here are terrible. Also ordered a sandwich from them. When the sandwich arrived it just looked like a sandwich I could have made at home in my kitchen. I want to support small businesses but I don't think I'm going to order from these guys again. When I lived in Vallejo, I used to come in here regularly. I love this spot. Great prices, great food, friendly local Mom & Pop business. The other day a friend told me they had Aussie meat pies. I lived in Oz for a year and they were the best snack/meal around. Best bang for buck. Had to come in today and try the pies. Excellent! Had a beef and onion pie and sausage roll. I called in a fairly big order of breakfast sandwiches and they were able to accommodate my order and extra requests that I had. Very sad. They have such a good niche' with the sausage rolls, but the business is o poorly run it is sad. One day you can use a debit card, the next you cannot because the person with the, "square" is not there. Of course there is no ATM either. I use to come here every morning for my junior and senior year of high school. I'd get a cinnamon roll and my dad a chocolate buttermilk bar. These donuts are hands down the best donuts ever. It got to the point I'd buy sometimes 3 cinnamon rolls because EVERYONE at school wanted one or at least some. The lady here is the sweetest, I came in her with my mom after graduating, her face lit up! And she remembered my order.
