They even had one of the doctors fix his teeth. They took really good care of him during that procedure. About 2 years ago the team started becoming real sticklers about the heart worm medication I gave him every month. It was a nuisance but I figured it was a safety precaution as they explained to me. Then when my fiancé moved in with his 2 pit mixes it became pretty ridiculous. This vet office had policies that are incredibly strict around prescribing heart worm medication. And with 2 medium sized dogs and a little, the price of these meds is WILD. I know this inflexibility around policy is not typical since I've asked folks about their vet experiences and found that some vets will have you sign paperwork that says you understand the risk of not getting them tested every year in order to ensure the dog can stay on the flea tick heart worm meds. This strictness was also very different than my experience at Redwood Vet Hospital in Vallejo. I give my dogs their heart worm medicine every single month without exception. I never miss a dose. This vet office isn't really willing to work with dog owners and seems more loyal to their policies & money than trying to mitigate health risks & disease in dogs. They don't believe their customers who tell them that we don't miss a dose. They don't care if you understand the risks they're describing for a possible missed dose. They will proceed to talk to you like your dumb. I've experienced both Dr. Kafka & Dr. Brandwajn talking down to either me or my partner (over the phone) about how we care for our dogs. I used to work at a dog daycare and I understand that many, many owners don't really know how to properly care for their dogs. I feel for vets and what they have to see and deal with. But the way business is conducted in this office is not the way to make it better. I haven't seen Heather in the office for a while, I'm not sure if she still works there but she was one of the office staff who didn't treat me like I didn't know what I was doing and even leveled with me and said that if money was an issue I can get my 3 dogs vaccinated at the monthly SPCA clinic. She seemed to understand that the safety of the dog should be the priority, but when we took our dogs back for their next checkup at A4P after taking them to the vaccine clinic we were treated as if we were lying about them having been vaccinated. The amount of hoops we have to jump through just to get our dogs access to flea tick & heart worm meds feels like a scam. We've brought our dogs in just for a simple heart worm test or cytopoint shot and been quoted $1000+ for a wild amount of additional tests they wanted to tack on. I do not feel like this vet is trustworthy or has my dogs best interests in mind. Our experience at the last two visits has finally convinced us to change vets. Which is sad because I really wanted to support this local business that isn't owned by private equity. Please enjoy pics of the goodest dogs in the world

Was a long time customer but this one incident changed everything. I had been taking my dog to this…read morevet for a few years now to get her check ups, vaccines, and dental work done. My dog is a toy fox terrier and she has black nails. Because of this a lot of groomers tend to cut too far out and end up hurting her, or making her bleed. Thus, when my groomer (who knows how to cut nails-- unlike this vet hospital) is fully booked and my dog needs a trim I take her here. Every-time they cut my dogs nails I was there and would hold her for comfort, she would move a little but that's about it. Never once, by her veterinarian nor in her medical records was it recorded nor stated (to me) that she had AGGRESSION issues, especially regarding nail clipping. I took my dog yesterday for a nail trim for 35 dollars, I don't mind since I pay for "quality". I don't want her to get hurt. However this time, they took her to the back without me (I had no issue since I trusted them ) but when she returned, I immediately noticed her nails WERE WAY TOO short! They were uneven throughout her paws. And she showed discomfort. I later took her to one of my other groomers and that's when we noticed THEY HAD CUT THROUGH 4 of her nail vessels and HURT HER. What's worse? At the end of the appointment there was no mention of aggression just that she was a wiggler (we both laughed). I called them to fix this or atleast make it right, instead I got a call from the manager. This manger is extremely disrespectful, emotional and started trauma dumping on me and cursing about a previous experience he had with a different dog. He then proceeded to blame their incompetence and inconsistent work on my dog. First he claimed that this is is bound to happen with dogs with black nails all the time ( not true, you are suppose to go in with clippers to cut majority of the length, THEN once close to the vessels GO IN WITH A NAIL GRINDER OR FILE. They just used the clippers ) . THEN he claimed that my dog didn't like having her nails cut because of an incident she had in 2021, despite having constant nail trims after the incident with no issues. He claimed that she was aggressive, and tried to justify their terrible work? ( if this was even true, why did they continue the service and HURT MY DOG? A good vetenerian would have refused service if it wasn't posible.) throughout this whole call he was yelling, talking over me and being so rude. When I told him that I just wanted my money back and wouldn't return he said the most disrespectful thing. " I would be more than happy to give you your money back, but let me give you some advice you should put your dog on sedatives for future nail clippings" crazy! Recommending this to a dog with no reported aggression is dangerous ! And extremely rude! For the sake of your baby's just don't come here. He proved that they DONT care. Why would you want to leave your pet in care of someone who can't even trim nails correctly?

It was already a stressful situation as it was. Thankfully, Pets.RIP was available at any hour of the day, so I made a call to Kwasi who answered my call and answered all my questions that I had. Kwasi is definitely a gem of a person; he is very compassionate, and being a pet owner himself, he understands the stresses that a passing of a beloved pet can have on its owner and family. There was no rush on when he could pick up; he told us to take as much time as we needed and to call him when we were ready for her to be picked up. After he picked her up to have a private cremation done, we kept in contact with him and he provided updates on when her urn would be ready. After 10 days from when he picked her up, he contacted me to let me know that her urn was ready. He went above and beyond and drove here to personally bring her to us. We would have been okay with having to pick her up from where ever she was, but the fact that Kwasi did this really touched us. Again, he is truly a gem of a person. Her urn was a beautiful sheesam urn with a nameplate of Delilah on it. Seeing it made me cry because I missed her, but also happy that she is finally back with us. If you ever need a private cremation (they also offer communal cremation) for a beloved pet that passed, please do not hesitate to contact Pets.RIP. The prices are reasonable, and they will take care of you from the moment you contact them until the time you receive your pet's urn.

Then what saved me from full blown drowning after, is finding Pets Rest. Where I could stay with Lucy's remains, and all the way through. This option to witness was a must for me. To never take my eye off of her ever again, even after her passing. This was not something I even knew I could do, until looking into Pets Rest. The got us in very quickly, in just 2 days. The chapel, the grounds, the employees-everyone and everything about this business is absolutely beautiful. Perhaps an example of something I've heard of called "sacred commerce". They're not trying to get rich here. In fact I wonder how they afford to be so fair and generous. Taking no shortcuts, but going the extra miles to create and maintain such a gorgeous heartwarming setting. Giving us plenty of time to grieve and say goodbye, in their Saint Charles Chapel. What I got out of this experience, I'm sure would cost a fortune anywhere in the country. And here this is San Francisco... The operator was so kind, patient, compassionate and very informative. Instead of acting quickly, the receptionist was incredibly rude and told me to wait for a nurse just to decide "if they could stay or not." I ended up waiting for over 40 minutes. While I was waiting, three other clients walked in, and all of their animals were taken back to see a nurse immediately. When I questioned the staff about this, they claimed the other animals were emergencies. How are 4 starved and dehydrated kittens not considered an emergency? What makes this worse is that this place is supposed to work with local animal shelters, yet they couldn't care less about these rescue animals when it actually mattered. It felt like because these were rescues and I wasn't a standard high-paying client, they didn't want to bother helping them. A veterinary hospital should care about saving animal lives, regardless of where they came from. The lack of care, terrible communication, and rude behavior at the front desk are completely unacceptable. Avoid this place if you actually have a real emergency.
