DO NOT USE THIS PLACE IMO. I feel misled and very…read moredisappointed by the experience I just had with Whispering Pines Pet Cremation, cremating my pet chicken Mayra. It is hard enough to lose a pet, without a negative experience from the place that is supposed to care. 1. The ashes are supposed to be light gray, or white, and a fine powder. These ashes were black, and had bones and other gravel like material in it. This is from it not being done at a high enough temperature, and not pulverized properly. 2. They said the container would have her name on it, which I assumed would be engraved with her name on the container, but alas it was a cheap Avery label, with her name written in pen, and the sticker was put on roughly and askew. 3. The ashes were put in a cheap ziplock bag. 4. The box had a ribbon tied around it, with dog paw prints. Mayra was a chicken, not a dog! 4. When I went to pick her up, they said to pick her up in the front office. I saw the horrible sticker, and looked at the ashes, and went to knock on their front door. I could hear them inside, but they did not answer. I had two previous chickens cremated at another crematorium, the box was engraved with their names, the ashes were white and fine, and in a nice plastic bag. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. You get what you pay for.

Our beloved kitty passed away unexpectedly. We wanted to find a respectable pet crematory for him…read moreso that we could spread his ashes on our property. We looked on yelp and Whispering Pines came up on top based on our needs. It wasn't the easiest place to find but they are located on Gravenstein Highway South, between The Barn and the alpaca farm. When you drive into their driveway, you will notice a little building in the front that asks you to ring the doorbell for service. We never went inside this building but it may be a place where you say your final good byes to your beloved furry friend. Ron came to the door of the residence. We were invited inside to complete a form. As I was completing it, a pretty orange kitty came to say hi. He was so friendly and sat next to me, and then he gently put his paw on my thigh. What a sweetheart. I think he could tell I was hurting inside. Ron was pleasant and told us that we would receive a call when Henry's ashes were ready for pick up. At 9:15 am the following morning, Wanda called to say I could stop by any time. I certainly wasn't expecting such a quick turnaround. Henry's ashes were in a black upright plastic container and tied around it were two ribbons with footprints. I was comforted to have him home again. Whispering Pines met our needs perfectly. We will spread our baby's ashes soon so we didn't need a special urn. Thank you Yelp for guiding us during a very sad time.

I wanted to shoutout the staffer who helped us, Kass, who was very friendly, responsive and respectful and answered all of our questions in a timely manner. There are some options when a pet passes. We scheduled our vet to help us with in-home euthanasia, and we made plans to bring our dog to Golden State. They had a room available to us to say goodbye, we even brought our other dog with us to say goodbye. The have a variety of package options (custom urns, etc.), we had our own plans in mind but Kass was not too pushy in trying to upsell options. When you dropoff a pet for cremation, they say they will turn that around in 7-10 business days, I think they did it in 6. It feels a little weird to review a pet crematorium, but we have another dog at the moment, and we'd consider using Golden State again.

That said, I just wanted to say thank you to Shane again for his true patience, professionalism, kindness and understanding throughout the whole process. A friend recommended me to Shane and Golden State Pet Crematorium after she lost her fur baby. When the time came after Indy; my dog, passed away, I contacted them the next day. They said that we could come in asap and that there was no wait period, which I appreciated. On top of that, he empathized and was patient with me when I sobbed on the phone because it happened so soon. Which I truly appreciated since it proved to me that Shane is a real one. To wrap up, their prices are extremely fair, the options are gorgeous as seen in the pics I included, and the turn around time to complete the cremation was finished in a week. I would highly recommend Shane to anyone who is looking for a crematorium for their recently deceased fur baby. 10/10 easy for this spot.

They even had one of the doctors fix his teeth. They took really good care of him during that procedure. About 2 years ago the team started becoming real sticklers about the heart worm medication I gave him every month. It was a nuisance but I figured it was a safety precaution as they explained to me. Then when my fiancé moved in with his 2 pit mixes it became pretty ridiculous. This vet office had policies that are incredibly strict around prescribing heart worm medication. And with 2 medium sized dogs and a little, the price of these meds is WILD. I know this inflexibility around policy is not typical since I've asked folks about their vet experiences and found that some vets will have you sign paperwork that says you understand the risk of not getting them tested every year in order to ensure the dog can stay on the flea tick heart worm meds. This strictness was also very different than my experience at Redwood Vet Hospital in Vallejo. I give my dogs their heart worm medicine every single month without exception. I never miss a dose. This vet office isn't really willing to work with dog owners and seems more loyal to their policies & money than trying to mitigate health risks & disease in dogs. They don't believe their customers who tell them that we don't miss a dose. They don't care if you understand the risks they're describing for a possible missed dose. They will proceed to talk to you like your dumb. I've experienced both Dr. Kafka & Dr. Brandwajn talking down to either me or my partner (over the phone) about how we care for our dogs. I used to work at a dog daycare and I understand that many, many owners don't really know how to properly care for their dogs. I feel for vets and what they have to see and deal with. But the way business is conducted in this office is not the way to make it better. I haven't seen Heather in the office for a while, I'm not sure if she still works there but she was one of the office staff who didn't treat me like I didn't know what I was doing and even leveled with me and said that if money was an issue I can get my 3 dogs vaccinated at the monthly SPCA clinic. She seemed to understand that the safety of the dog should be the priority, but when we took our dogs back for their next checkup at A4P after taking them to the vaccine clinic we were treated as if we were lying about them having been vaccinated. The amount of hoops we have to jump through just to get our dogs access to flea tick & heart worm meds feels like a scam. We've brought our dogs in just for a simple heart worm test or cytopoint shot and been quoted $1000+ for a wild amount of additional tests they wanted to tack on. I do not feel like this vet is trustworthy or has my dogs best interests in mind. Our experience at the last two visits has finally convinced us to change vets. Which is sad because I really wanted to support this local business that isn't owned by private equity. Please enjoy pics of the goodest dogs in the world
