The receptionist went over the cost with me and said I wasn't obligated to join if I didn't want to. I decided to wait to see how my exam would go and decide afterwards. Dr. Daniel Nguyen sat down with me to go over any concerns I might have answering my questions and offering insights. He was polite and soft spoken and appeared interested in my issues. After my x-rays and exam, he went over my dental charts with me to show me what needed to be done. After my exam, because it was so thorough, I decided to opt in for the program which I could cancel at anytime. A few days later, I decided to go to another dentist for a second opinion and everything Dr. Daniel said, matched the opinions of the other dentist. As far as pricing, because I don't have insurance, I found that the payment program I opted in for made sense as the other dentist gave me a rundown of costs and would've charged way more. With this in mind I made my second appointment with doctor Nguyen to have the crown and fillings that were needed. He was gentle and methodical and did not rush the process. I had no problem with the crown that he put on my back molar. A few weeks later I went for another issue which he fixed. I highly recommend this dental office as the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the office is clean and tidy, and Dr. Daniel really makes you feel relaxed and safe.

I called earlier in the day because my lower retainer had broken and was quoted $121 for the visit. Based on that information, I scheduled an appointment and came in prepared to pay out of pocket. When I arrived, I filled out all of the new patient paperwork and returned it to the front desk. During conversation, I mentioned that I had recently moved to the area and had started the process of applying for the Oregon Health Plan but do not currently have dental coverage, have not been assigned a plan, and do not have insurance cards. At that point, the office manager informed me that "by law in the state of Oregon" they could not see me because of the Oregon Health Plan. I explained multiple times that I am not enrolled in OHP dental and do not currently have coverage, and that I was fully prepared to pay for the visit myself. Despite this, she continued to argue the point and refused to move forward. The situation became increasingly uncomfortable. I then learned that the original price quoted over the phone was no longer accurate and that I would be required to take X-rays before anything could be done, which was not what was explained when I scheduled the appointment. By this point, I was already feeling extremely uncomfortable due to the interaction. I told the office manager that I had never been treated this way at a dental office before and that I was on the verge of tears because of how the situation was being handled. Unfortunately, there was no effort to resolve the issue or show any empathy. I ultimately chose to leave without being seen. I understand that offices have policies and insurance requirements, but professionalism and basic courtesy toward patients should always come first. This experience left me feeling dismissed, embarrassed, and incredibly disappointed. I hope the practice takes the time to review how situations like this are handled with patients in the future.

There was no apology and I was told my filling needed to cure which I think is a lie because they had used a curing light and I didn't have sit around while the second one supposidely cured after I expressed my dissatisfaction. It felt unprofessional and unsettling. From my understanding, this isn't standard practice during dental work, and I left feeling frustrated and unsure about the care I received. I think they overbook patients because I also had to wait awhile to be seen in the first place by the dentist. With a newborn at home I was not happy with the appointment running longer than I was told it would be.

Because I am new to them, most will demand their own x-rays even though I just had them taken months ago. A simple request of my two previous offices was all that was needed. The next morning my teeth were noticeably whiter but my gums and part of my tongue were burnt from the bleach and hydrogen peroxide. It took just under one week to heal.

The dentist stopped showing us the x-rays automatically, instead I get told there's another cavity and go schedule the appointment to fill it and that's that. It just feels a little impersonal and like they're not trying to do anything else to help. The last thing that kind of put me over was the receptionist acting shocked the last two times I've been there when I needed to schedule the filling a month out or spread out appointments. My insurance does not cover the whole price of fillings. They are $100+ and I literally had to tell her, I am a single mom, I don't just have extra money lying around (which someone shouldn't have to explain). One of my daughter's fillings ended up falling out too, for no reason. I instead went to my dentist that I go to and they offered my daughter preventative measures that are super well priced so that fillings aren't necessary, especially for teeth that are going to fall out soon. Even their filling prices were slightly cheaper and the receptionist was super nice and let me schedule the appointments when I needed to, without question or hesitation. Plus, they care about you as a person and even remember things you told them from the previous time you were there. Overall young Kidz is pretty good for a dentist, just left me with a bad vibe.
