I'm trying to get back into the habit of cutting out unnecessary middlemen by purchasing directly from companies/businesses, and this was a good, albeit a bit frustrating, reminder.

This lodge is super cozy and has a family vibe. The staff and owner are awesome and always there for any needs. Ping pong, pool, hot tub, sauna, fireplace in the lobby, and lots of trails with beautiful views minutes from the back door! I think I found a new annual tradition that avoids the costly resorts while having the free shuttle convenience to take you right to the base of Winter Park Resort. Definitely coming back!

We had looked for a hotel in the area but none had great reviews, so we hunted for a BnB. Luckily we found Aspen Hollow, such a nice place to stay. We arrived and were greeted by Marilyn, shown a great and comfortable room, and were treated to a couple glasses of wine before we turned in. This place has a lot to offer, there is a recreational space with hot tub, sauna and big screen tv with tons of movies, as well as a separate great room for peaceful relaxation as it overlooks the valley of Granby and has a huge fireplace that must be amazing in the winter. We got up in the morning to coffee waiting for us, and a delicious breakfast, fresh fruit, powdered sugar french toast and sausage. I am so glad we stayed here. I was hesitant at first because there wasn't a lot of info about this place but it turned out to be a great decision. We will be going back for sure. A couple of things I will say that were unique about this place that really struck me as fantastic and unusual. First, the quality of the building is pretty high, the floors are tile and heated, so in the great room on the mail floor your feet are warmly greeted in the morning for breakfast. Another thing I noticed is there are a lot of quality in the details. The bed was extremely comfortable, the linens were top notch. Many times when staying in places such as these, and others like vbro or airbnb you find that people just want to make a buck without giving a quality overall experience. Many times you find that people cheap out, and this place does not. The level of quality is very high, so high that despite not having family or anything in Granby, we will likely go back to just relax for a few days because it was such a good experience. Rooms were clean and well maintained, and had all of the basics you would need. Everything related to a ski day was nice here - had storage for skis and boots so that you didn't have to bring them to your room. In the morning they have a nice spread for breakfast including fruit and cereal, and also have some hot items including eggs, toast, sausage, and bacon. Definitely enough to get you fueled and ready for the day. Then there is a van they run that takes you right to the gondola leaving at 8:30, 9, 9:30. Taking the first van gets you there right for the start of day. And you don't have to worry about parking, walking, and paying at the resort. Rides back were at 3:15 and 4:15 which gave plenty of time at the mountain. I didn't get a chance to try the hot tub but it looked nice. There were some cozy spots in the lounge with fireplaces to sit and relax. And a ping pong table that a few kids were using to stay entertained. Parking here was convenient, and the location is good; very close to everything in Winter Park. Overall I was very impressed with this stay. I will definitely look here first when looking for a place to stay in Winter Park moving forward. I thought it was a fair value, and the amenities made for easy ski days where all I had to do was get dressed and show up to the van on time, and not worry about anything else.

I was attending a conference in downtown Boulder, but looking for inexpensive, yet safe, accommodation. The reviews for Boulder University Inn were remarkably good for the price point, so I booked. When we arrived, I was a bit skeptical given the outside appearance. It looked like an old motel. Checking in at the front desk was easy and pleasant enough. It felt like a small, old school motel, which was different than the big hotel chains I'm used to, but it had its own kind of charm. The room was basic, but clean and comfortable. The real charm came from the service though. Samantha was at the front desk and when my sister and I asked about the safety of the area (in terms of walking to Downtown Boulder and back, possibly at night), she gave us great info and made us feel comfortable. Beyond giving us a quick lay of the land, we were extremely thirsty after a long walk and she was so kind as to offer us some extra complimentary waters. This was a small thing, but sets a small hotel apart from the big chains where no one has the autonomy to make someone's day with a little kindness. Overall, an affordable, safe, and decent hotel in Boulder that I'd definitely return to in the future!

I cannot even comment on a nice and friendly staff, as I never met anyone. I had to call on the phone to get passwords. The framed instructions, located upside down in a drawer, were outdated). To pay ($250 for one night), for a WiFi signal, dropping off every 90-seconds, and too weak to send a text message, then to find at 5;30am, there is no toilet paper, anywhere, when the roll runs dry, (if I was expected to bring my own, no one told me). I will not recommend. This is scaled-down lodging, at its worst. Finally, at 10:30pm, the cleaning staff is just then cleaning the room, next door with beating and banging, so a quiet sit on the outside bench was not possible, though I regret not swiping a roll of toilet paper. This place does not live up to its listings and advertisements, in any way. Disappointed, uncomfortable, and embarrassed to have to find toilet paper before anyone else is awake. If you are looking for amenities, look elsewhere. Must note: I live in a mountain town. I understand slow WiFi, but this was nearly non-existent, so stop listing it as an Amenity. Another negative memory to take home, from our once-in-a-lifetime trip to Grand Lake.
