What a cute place! I've driven by her at least 1x/day FOREVER! Decided to try it for Friday lunch and was not disappointed. We were seated quickly and it wasn't crowded. We were served right away and the staff was pleasant. When we needed a gluten free substitute, the server gave us a list of options. The green chili is gluten free and very tasty. I had the smothered bean burrito and you can tell that the beans are homemade. Good variety on the menu and a little of something for everyone. Will definitely try again. read more

I have lived in Bear Valley for 20 years and never been to this restaurant. I drive by it daily and always tell myself to stop in and try it out. It just never happened. Finally, I made a point of having breakfast there today and I'm glad I did. This place is extremely clean, well run and efficient. Our waitress, Julie was pleasant, funny and efficient. She even found out where they buy their feta cheese for me. Their feta cheese is amazing. Might be the best I've ever had. Our order came out fast and was fresh, hot and tasty. The pancakes were perfect, the banana was fresh and my spinach feta omelette was incredible. This is a family owned business and it shows. Solid attention to details. We eat here frequently, but on 2 of our last 3 visits it took over 1/2 hour for our food to come. The first time, the cooks didn't make one of our meals, and the latest time we were told it "accidentally went out on a takeout order." And when our order finally came, the meals weren't entirely correct, but we ate them as it had taken so long. In both cases it seemed like after the "mistake" our order went to the end of the line instead of being taken care of immediately. We eat here because we can get good food in a timely manner. We won't continue eat here if the food service doesn't get better. read more

This is place is a great diner. I've been here for breakfast and it's really good. Big flavor and big portions. Come here hungry and ready to eat. The diner is Greek-owned and that lovely influence is infused in my of their menu items. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful. I used to take clients here. It was the afternoon on a weekday. The waitress told me she was just coming in. I ordered an iced tea. The person I was with ordered food. The waitress told me there is a $5 minimum per person even if you are paying cash. Sure enough, there it was on the menu. Never in the 9 months had anyone reinforced this BS policy--after all---all my clients had bought meals. This waitress was different. I asked to speak to the manager. She said that they were not in. I asked her what her name was. She would not give it to me. She said, "They don't like us to give that out." I was pretty ticked, as I had brought in so much business in the past and this waitress/establishment was being so petty. So basically, I paid $5 for a mediocre glass of iced tea. I will take ALL my business elsewhere. I will never step foot in Valley Inn again. read more

And there are yet still more I haven't named. All have large menus with emphases on sandwiches and burgers, Greek, Mexican and "American" entrees, and breakfast served all day. Wait staff are predictably fun and often "salty." The "cuisine" of this ilk will never be confused with health food, but while your doctor and cholesterol level will appreciate you not eating it every day, every so often, iconic Diner food is still pretty tasty. I like Valley Inn - it's a good option for breakfast as well as for an occasional lunch or dinner that is somewhere between comfort food and indulgent (yes, life is more than tofu, kelp and and tabouli). This place looks like all the fantastic local diners that I knew back in Reno and when I heard that they had some great gyros, I knew that I couldn't pass it by. Being seated was easy, and the restaurant has a homey feeling. It definetly draws an older crowd, but I find that these types of places have the best home-style meals. My date and I started off with their fried mushrooms, which were heavenly and just enough. I almost didn't make it to my meal, a fish and chips basket that was piping hot, flakey and crispy. I came here with a good friend of mine, after he totally upsold me the idea of a good traditional Greek food, great service and all the jazz. The dining area was actually pretty heartwarming; totally reminded me of being an episode of King of The Hill, because it was so old fashioned. Tables were spread out, family style, mostly made out of wood. I thought the washroom was very clean, and again: old fashioned for sure. I ordered the guacamole bacon burger, which was the most delicious part of my experience!! The proportion of the burger made it impossible for me to finish my food!! It was that good. The scoop of guacamole was on top of the burger with pepper jack cheese and two slices of bacon on the side and the bun upside down. The onion rings were listed on the Appetizer's section of the menu, and those were pretty good. My good friend apparently knew the waitress; an older lady who was kind of cold towards me. The service was definitely the one thing I didn't enjoy upon my visit here. I tried not to allow the service to interfere with the dining experience my friend and I had. My friend absolutely loved the Chicken fried steak with potatoes and dark gravy. He said it complimented his side of veggies. For drinks, he got an iced tea and things felt normal again until we got home. Overall, everything was a little greasy and the side of mushrooms were definitely greasy. This isn't my first visit here at Valley Inn but I just never checked in on Yelp. Breakfast is my favorite meal so I have been there before. My first visit I was somewhat disatified because they took their time bringing out the lukewarm food. But Valley Inn has this awesome Greek Skillet that is made with eggs and beef and feta cheese and it is absolutely delicious. It's easy to chew and very tasty. Also, the baklava is wonderful. I would recommend them more as Greek restaurant than as a breakfast place however. Pleasant experience tonight. read more

We have been coming here for years. There were some rocky times a while ago but now that Steve is running the show it is fabulous. We have historically come for breakfast however recently came for dinner a couple times. Did I mention I am the special order queen! Breakfast - They must buy a good grade of egg because they absolutely have the best eggs of any restaurant I have been to and 95% of the time they are cooked to perfection. Their bacon is on the thicker side and really yummy. I like the toro pot, without a tortilla, or a skillet for breakfast and their pancakes are light and fluffy best of all served with REAL butter. They make good Bloody Marys and poinsettias. Dinner - I have been getting the Mexican hamburger (I really like their green chili). They serve the beans on the side, I want them inside so I just ask and they accommodate me. Their fries are different from most restaurants but amazing. My mom got the tuna salad as the presentation was beautiful and she said it was yummy! Not so good- the building is in need of work and upgrades the ladies bathroom is not in good repair. There are a few drafts in the winter. They do their best but don't own the building. Good news they are breaking ground on a new building on the other side of Jewell by the Wendy's and looking forward to a new updated building. A new building will get them another star from me! I highly recommend you get there before the church crowd or you will be waiting. read more

Not wanting to slam people, I want to describe our visit to this place. I've driven by the Valley Inn many times and decided to stop in. The marquee said they were in business for 38 years so I figured they're doing something right. I ordered the Greek version of lasagna and soup appetizers. In spite of my emphasizing we were starving, our soup took 10 minutes to get to us, why? There was only a 4 top before us. One cook I guess. Soup was luke warm but we ate it anyway. Then our dishes came out. It seemed like the cook fed us left overs. The Lasagna looked as described but oddly, there was a heaping pile of mashed potatoes with brown gravy. It was so out of place....even then, the potatoes were unseasoned instant and the gravy came out of a packet. Pretty lousy and uninspiring. I thought it was crap. Everything, even my wifes dish was so under seasoned it spelled "rooky cook" all the way, I was, however, impressed how the macaroni was all lined up but that was it. 12 hours later and in the middle of the night I woke with stomach cramps and I will spare you the details. read more

I have been hesitant to write this review. I have been going to the valley since I was a small child with my grandparents and parents. I used to get food from them at least once a week. Recently we went there one Saturday morning. I ordered and so did my Mother. The waitress came out and said mom's was ready but mine was made wrong. Instead of remaking mine right away, since I had already waited 20 minutes for my food, I was told by the waitress that my ticket was put at the back of the line to be made last behind at least 20 people who had arrived since we got there. My mom's food was brought out and we decided we were so frustrated that we left. The missing item was supposed to be taken off the bill but never was. $25 for one meal that wasn't even eaten. Sadly we are not going back. We have been cordial with all the owners for years. The parents, daughters and son, have all been so kind but this just went to show that our continuing business snd support of them through the years and the pandemic have in a moment thoughtlessness has been, sadly ignored. read more

This restaurant served us a cockroach it is very dirty. I might have given the place a higher rating if I had eaten there. The food on another couple's table looked OK, and I've eaten there before with pleasant enough results. This time, though, it seems my wife and I didn't pass the strict ordering standards. Before the waitress came we had decided to share a pork chop dinner. Thinking it probably came with soup or salad, we would order an extra salad or soup, and share those too. After all, we're pretty old and most restaurant meals are too much for us. As soon as the waitress heard we were sharing a meal, she frowned and pointed to the statement on the menu that said each person had to order something worth at least $5. I mentioned that the dinner we were ordering was more than twice that; we were already in for over $5 per person. No dice. Each person, separate order. Besides, we hadn't even finished ordering since we had intended to get an extra salad, and drinks had not been decided. With the mood turned sour so quickly, I didn't even want to find out if the extra salad would have "qualified" us to eat at the establishment. I worked there for three weeks when I was 16 and the owner refused to pay me when I refused to put up with his verbal abuse.Now at the age of 47 and owning 2 of my own companies I decided to give it a second chance and stop in to eat and somethings never change. I realize the times we are in is hard but when I requested a menu the new owner (his son)refused to give me one and said that our whole table had to share one menu and that he couldn't afford to give out more than one. I originally quit working at the restaurant due to the verbal abuse I witnessed to the other employees....but he didn't leave me out, on my way out the door. The previous owner, his father was definitely a bully to all the employees. I hope the new owner is capable of paying their employees While still catering to the customer. I think the Chicken Fried Steak at iHop might even taste better than this. Even the gravy wasn't as good. In generally, nothing stands out here. Anything you find on the menu here, you'll most likely find at iHop or Denny's and I'd argued that it probably taste better at the latter places. Nice place, unassuming and quite humble. Owned by a Greek guy that has had it forever. The menu covers a lot of ground and its not hard to find something, no matter your taste. Of course it has some Greek items, and shouldn't it? The waitstaff isn't forced to wear humiliating uniforms with name tags, just black jeans/slacks and an appropriate shirt works just fine. The owner has decorated the place quite nicely, decorative bottles of olives and other greekish things, Done in a way that isn't tacky. I mention it, because when when I go there I can sense the owners taste and values, this in turn makes me feel its more of a personnel thing, and not a big corporation that has panels that decide what carpet to buy and bla bla bla. The food is very consistent and tasty, this tells me the cooks in the kitchen have been there for long time and are competent in their abilities. The bussers assist the waitstaff with quite a lot of energy, and will even help get drinks and anything else that makes the place run efficiently. I wouldn't say that this place has amazing and innovative food, but it has consistency, service and doesn't put on airs of superiority. Fantastic breakfast, served quick. The Valley Inn looks a little questionable from the outside. It graces the westside of Wadsworth, with an older King Soopers shopping center to its rear. By its looks alone, you might think that Restaurant Impossible celebrity chef Robert Irvine and his design staff of Tom and whatever designer he has that week would salivate at the opportunity to splash the place in green or add some faux wood floors. While the property needs an update, the food is just fine. I devoured the Belgian waffle covered in strawberries and whipped cream, with a welcomed side of bacon. It all ran me under $10. That's a breakfast deal I can live with. My compadres enjoyed eggs, bacon, breakfast burritos, pancakes, and toast. We ate here two days in a row and each time left with full bellies and comments of "that was excellent" and "totally hit the spot." Ignore the drab gray exterior, and pretend the awkward beer-advertising ceiling lamps that should be in a pool hall, aren't the focal lighting points. Valley Inn left a lot to be desired. We came in on a Sunday morning and waited for 10 minutes to be seated. Once we were seated we waited another 10 minutes for anyone to come over and greet us. We should have walked out then. The waitress came over finally and asked us what we wanted. No "good morning or hello" We ordered our drinks and meals at the same time. While we were waiting for the food I turned to Yelp. Bad idea. I spent the majority of my meal scrutinizing the food looking for telltale signs of filth. No coffee refills were offered, the waitress did not come by to check on us. The omelette I ordered came with sliced cheese on it. Really, real cheese is not that much more difficult.
