I LOVE THIS PLACE ~ Vince and Lillian are the nicest people, and the Coffee yummmmmmm...perfect and organic! The place is very neat and clean with many different newspapers, magazines to look at. Excellent mochas and lattes that are organic. Owners are friendly. Pastries are not the highlight, but a pleasant enough accompaniment to the coffee. The shop itself is charming with comfortable seats. Don't be discouraged by the small parking lot, there are spaces on street. This is a shop to come to if you want great coffee in a peaceful chatty atmosphere without noisy kids. There are kids here sometimes, but not the unruly sort who ruin your visit. They are the well behaved ones who I've personally seen be warmly greeted by the owner and who would be welcomed in most establishments. read more

This place is right off the beaten path and doesn't stand out too much. You almost need to know it's here if you wanted to stop by. After I park and start walking up to the front door I get a sense of tranquility. Nothing fancy or in your face, just a coffee shop that has organic coffee. I liked that feeling. Once I stepped inside I see all the art work on the walls and hear the jazz music playing in the background. I take my time making my way to the counter to order checking out all the cool things they offer off to the side. They have cups, teas, coffee, organic honey and a bunch of other cool things. As I was checking out thier menu I couldn't help but notice that they focus on thier drinks and not so much on food. They had a few muffins and bagels but that was about it. They have a nice selection of coffee choices and smoothies and they also had a a selection of bottled beverages. They guy who took my order, which I think was the owner was nice and the lady who made the drinks was friendly as well. Once I received my coffee I took a seat and began to enjoy my americano. As I'm drinking my coffee I felt as though I could really taste a difference in the beans compared to other coffee shops. My drink has a very smooth and clean taste to it, not very acidic like some of the other coffee shops I've tried. I found myself wanting more as I was finishing my drink. I thought the price for my americano was about right and looking at the price of other drinks they didn't sound too bad if they taste as good as what I had. The first time I went to this store was to meet a couple of friends for coffee. I initially sat down to greet them while I decided what to order. The owner yelled over to where I was sitting that I needed to order something after being there only a few minutes. I walked over to the counter to order. He then started to harass me when I tried to use a credit card to buy coffee. I offered to buy something else. He said he was out of each food item listed on the menu(3 in total) I asked for to get to the $5 minimum he was requesting. He insisted I buy a Danish. Which didn't look very appetizing. I told him I didn't want a Danish and asked what else he had. He said that was all. He had a line forming, so I told him I would sit down and try to figure out an order that totaled over $5. I sat down waiting for the line to clear and he called me over telling me my coffee was ready. I told him I didn't order yet because I was trying to meet the $5 minimum. He said that my only option was to buy the Danish. I said since he made the coffee I would buy it with the credit card, that was all I had. He then became loud again trying to embarrass me in front of his other customers and coerce me into buying the danish. I have never experienced anything like this. When I pulled out my credit card the man told me of the 5 dollar minimum. I looked for cash but had none. He then yelled at me that it had already been made in those 5 seconds I was looking for cash. VINCE!!!!! All I need to start out with. Way back in the day when I first started in the trades the company I worked for did some work for this guy. Man what a cool dude, and on too of it, the coffee was great. Ended up moving to town years later, then this became my new coffee spot. I very rarely buy cups of coffee, I more or less like to purchase the strongest coffee I can find, and they have it. ORGANIC PANIC! This bean has been on tap at my house for over a decade (on and off, but now that I'm close again, it's the only thing in my espresso machine) because it works as it's titled, it makes you PaNic!!!! Also, if you really do your homework, (and I don't know about the milk they use just yet) organic is the way to go. Places like Petes and Starbucks DO NOT SERVE THIS. They have GMO loaded menus and they do not care about the poison they are feeding you. Rather then stray further in my review then I already have, just go here, support you local small business, put money in the pockets of someone independent instead of the local corporate machines that are wrecking our towns, and drink organic coffee. read more

Great neighborhood coffee shop! Excellent service! The prices are bit higher than a Starbucks or Peets, but you get so much more. My go-to, a low-fat Vanilla Latte was executed to perfection. I had the cup for 'here' and it came very well presented, with a layer of milk, then coffee, topped with foam and a beautiful design. I came back a 2nd time and stepped out of my comfort zone and tried the Coconut Almond Latte. Incredibly Amazing! It is a small cafe with room for 12ish (although that may feel crowded). This place is adorable! It's tiny with a few chairs and tables inside and some outside on the porch area. They have a huge shelf full of teas, local honey, mugs for sale and French press coffee makers. The people that work here and very nice and helpful. They have a case of fresh pastries and the coffee is delicious. I had a mocha with almond milk. Everything they have here is organic! As a student the only thing bad I can point out is there are absolutely no outlets to plug in for chargers. The best Coffee shop I have ever been to! I am not one of those people who are into Organic products. I truthfully could care less. That being said, the coffee at Valley Java is the best I've ever had! I love the small non corporate feeling and the fact that Vince makes a point to learn peoples names and makes every effort to remember your preferences. Second, it's owned by Vincent who lives in town and is a really nice guy and interesting. I am a huge fan of the coffee and tea selections. They offer many different types of milk and milk alternatives. They don't have much food, which isn't a big problem in my opinion, but it might be if you are expecting a Starbucks or Peets experience. The only downside is the parking. It's minimal and the only way to get out is to somewhat blindly back onto a fairly busy street. Even with my large vehicle, I always manage to get out okay, but it might take some time and patience to wait for a big enough gap in the traffic. read more
