I've had a couple of companies come out for a significant pool leak over the course of a year. Skimmer, tile waterfall regrouted only to determine we hadn't solved it. Greg came out, inspected a few spots included what was repaired and found other cuplrit areas with a die test. Our pool company (California Clean Pool & More) recommended using Valley Leak Detection to have our very old skimmer replaced along with removing copper pipes to our pool equipment. I had a previous leak detection company come out to determine what was leaking and they quoted me 2 different jobs and how it will take a few days to get completed. With Valley they came out on a Friday and had completed the work with in one day. What really sold me was the out of box thinking to just cut the copper pipe and move it instead of breaking up concrete. We noticed a very high water bill, did some leak detection investigation (as recommended by our water provider) and found a pretty good leak coming from our pool - but had no idea where from. We contacted Jeff at Valley Leak Detection and they came out really quickly after I called. They performed a pressure test on our pool plumbing (thank goodness no leak there) then did a dye test and found a leak in our pool skimmer throat (the tile entry from the pool to the skimmer). They made a temp repair - Jeff had us monitor the water level over a weekend to confirm the temp repair worked and then quickly made the permanent repair once it was verified that the temp repair fixed the problem. Their pricing was very fair, I liked that they didn't ask for money up front and they waited until we were completely satisfied. We will be contacting Valley Leak Detection should we ever have another water leak that we can't figure out the location. My pool was leaking about 2 inches of water a day. Jeff came out the day after I called and over the course of a week verified the leak, checked the pool equipment, did a pressure check on the discharge plumbing, checked and sealed the light fixture conduit, drained the pool, pressure checked the intake plumbing, and discovered the leak in the drain/pump intake at the bottom of the pool. He fixed the leak for a very reasonable sum. I refilled the pool and the water level remains constant. Jeff is a gentleman who does thorough and professional work. Greg was able to come out the same day and helped me out big time with a temporary fix for the leak underneath my pool equipment pad. Plus, his quote to permanently fix the leak was definitely the best I received. However, due to extreme root infestation under the pool equipment pad, I thought it might be a better long-term solution to replace the entire equipment pad along with the plumbing underneath. Even though that is not a service they offer, Greg agreed with my assessment and put me in contact with someone who specializes in pad replacement and they turned out to be amazing as well. We tried a leak detection company two years ago. Had a less than good experience and did not find my pool leak. We were loosing over 300 gallons per day and are on a well. That explained why it was impossible to balance the chemicals in the pool. Our pool service referred us to Valley Leak Detection, Greg Smith. He was busy but when he came out, he wasted no time in isolating a 2" pipe that had the leak. He was meticulous in trying to locate the leak, under the concrete pool deck. Bulls-eye! He drilled right on top of the cracked 45 connector. Now, all we have is a standard skimmer cover in the concrete pool deck, instead of a mismatched patch job. I called this company after getting a referral from the company that put in my pool. I called last week and left a message. I received no return call so I called again yesterday and leave another message mentioning that I called before. Jeff calls me back today. Conversation starts okay, but he doesn't listen. He asks me questions but when I try to explain he continually interrupts me so I say, "Can I finish explaining?" He then interrupts for the LAST TIME and says, "Ma'am, I think you need to contact another company because we're not connecting." And then he hangs up the phone. So childish! First he doesn't get back to his voicemail in a timely manner and then he doesn't actually listen when I'm trying to explain what I've experienced with the pool leak. As a professional service provider myself, I find that this is a plague amongst people that might be good at their craft but because they have no appropriate business sense - 2 ears to hear and one mouth to talk, they fail to be a company I would recommend to my clients. We called Valley Leak because the company that redid our pool recommended them. First of all, we had a small leak and we could not determine whether or not it was the skimmer leaking or the pipes from the pool equipment. He determined within 15 minutes that it was not the pool equipment, however he decided it was the skimmer and put putty on the inside of the skimmer as best he could. He left and never called us to find out if it was still leaking or if it was ok. He charged us $350 to come out. It is still leaking and me being an honest person sent him a check for the $350. I wish I hadn't. Never heard from this guy again. I would not recommend him nor would I ever call him back. read more

My swimming pool was leaking 1.5" to 2.5" daily so I contacted a franchised leak detection company. After 2 visits the keak was not located, they said leak must be minor. After putting out of mind for several months I contacted Valley Leak Detection on the advise of local pool supply company. When one of the owners (Jeff) contacted me, we spent some time conversing about the leak. He asked multiple questions the other company never asked and was pretty sure from my answers that the leak was in the suction line for the skimmer. He had me plug off line at skimmer and monitor, leak stopped. On 2 visits Jeff and his brother Gregg located and repaired leak and were able to make repair within a 8" hole they cut in deck. I normally don't write reviews but these guys are truly exceptional. While digging to plant something I found water next to my pool. I turned the auto fill off to find out the pool water was dropping quite fast. I researched and found the franchise leak detection firm. I left a message on their website and called. I am still waiting for them to get back to me. Thankfully, a colleague recommended Valley Leak Detection. Jeff called me and gave me a price over the phone. He insisted that I don't get a bill until I am satisfied that they fixed the leak. We scheduled an appointment and he came out on time. He pressure tested the pipes and confirmed they were sound. Then traced and found a leak from the pool wall (not properly sealed around pipe). I monitored using a bucket as suggested and found that the pool was dropping at twice the rate as the water in the bucket. Jeff's brother Greg came out the second time and found a second leak from the pool wall, similar as before. I continued monitoring and still there was additional drop in the pool than the bucket but at a slower rate. Greg came out again and this time he had to dive in. He found a third leak at the pool bottom drain pod. That was it. Problem solved. The bill was very reasonable give that it took three visits and a dive in. I highly recommend these guys to trace and fix any water leak. I am now waiting for my next water bill to find out what me real water consumption is.
