John came out and a few minutes into his inspection said he'd have to stop because of the rain, charged me $375 that day and said he'd come back two days later. NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN and it's August 2025. I have called repeatedly, his voicemail still has an old message he's out of the office for a few days in January 2025. Through the mywater.cityofsacramento.org site, I learned that there was a leak somewhere but it could not be seen by the naked eye. We did, however, narrow it down that the leak was somewhere between the main valve and the meter outside. I called a plumbing service and they said that they do no have the equipment to locate the leak and referred me to On The Spot. I called Jon and within minutes he returned my call. He was working at a job and promised to call me back in the next 30-40 minutes to explain his pricing and process. As promised, Jon called me back in the time frame that he said that he would. Jon came out the next business day and after some searching, he pin pointed the leak. I was skeptical because there was no wet spot in the area, but when the plumber came out and started digging, the leak was exactly right where Jon said it would be. The powerlessness you feel when you pull up to your place of employment and the entire parking lot is full of water cannot be described. We knew it was a broken water main but we couldn't tell where. We called a plumber who recommended we call a leak detection company. I found this place and gave them a call. By the way, I could only find 3 such companies and this one was the only place that had any type of contact information and/or answered their phone. They came out the next day and in about 25min they found the area that was the most likely spot for the leak. Which was no where near where the plumber had told us. This is an odd service to request and its expensive but worth it when you need it. Sure enough we jack hammered it out and found the break. We did all the repairs ourselves but a break like this could cost you $20,000. Be warned. Don't hesitate to call these guys if you need to. read more

I recently bought a small house in Folsom with a slab foundation. I had a mildew smell in a small bedroom which had a discolored concrete slab floor under the carpet. I had no evidence of any water leak in the house itself but the outside sprinklers were hitting the back of this room. The price seemed high considering it only took about 20 to 30 minutes to check the supply water pipes on my 1300 square foot home. Jon turned the water off at the main water meter and then listened with special equipment (worth 8k) to see if there was a leak. With the water meter off, he also checked to make sure the meter didn't move with the appliances off. He wrote a 3 sentence hand written report afterwards that indicated no leak found. He stated a drainage leak would smell real bad and I would know. Anyone else want to change careers? He was friendly and knowledgeable just expensive. read more

Out of the blue we found the carpet between the kitchen and living room getting lightly but consistently soaked from an unknown source. Since there was only one logical water line that could run under that spot I figured we must have a leak under the slab. I was cringing at the thought of both the expense of the repair and of having somebody jackhammering concrete in the middle of our living room. I called several plumbing companies and it turns out most do not offer leak detection services, just leak repairs. Looking at the reviews here on Yelp I found On The Spot Leak Detection was getting excellent reviews. I called them up in the morning, and Jon told me he could be out that afternoon, and quoted a flat rate of $295.00 for the work. That was already $100 less than than some other services with ratings not as good on Yelp. John arrived on time, and before bringing in any gear did a quick inspection of the problem area. He said something to the effect of "Relax, this might not be as bad as you think." He went into the kitchen, pulled the refrigerator away from the wall, and went around the back. A few seconds later he said, "Good news, you don't have a leak under the slab. The connection hose to the ice maker has a slow leak at the shutoff behind the fridge and is leaking water down into the wall, which is soaking your carpet three feet away from underneath." Then, he said that since he didn't really have to do a regular leak inspection, would I be OK if he charged me $125.00 to cover his time to come out. I was so relived that I was NOT going to have a $2,000 plumbing repair expense and I was completely expecting to pay the $295.00 he had quoted, so my day just got better still. Top notch service! We called On the Spot because we were concerned about a possible hidden leak in between our bathroom walls. John came out that same day, was super informative and helpful. He did a thorough check (he even checked our outdoor crawl space in the dark!) and was able to determine that we likely did not have any kind of internal leak, however, he DID detect an external leak coming from the base of the bathtub spout. I spoke with him again Wednesday morning and advised I would be home to meet with him at 3:30 when he arrived.
