I had the worse experience with Matt @ Valleymealprep!!! I feel I need to share to warn people to not do business with him or his establishment !!! I felt as if I needed a boost with my nutrition - I did research and came across Valleymealprep On 7th street in Modesto. I decided to order the 21 day women's fit body meals. Ordered online around 3pm -no issue. I called around 5:30 to confirm they got my order and that I could pick it up tomorrow or that it was going to be delivered tomorrow or Thursday. ( this is what I understood from his website ) I called - a guy answered "hello?" No hello this is Valleyfoodprep just hello. I thought I had the wrong # so i said I was trying yo get a hold of Valleyfoodprep. He said yea this is and his name was Matt. I told him my name , when and what I ordered and asked if it was going to be delivered tomorrow or could I pick it up. He became INSTANTLY RUDE!!! He said no I needed to order by Friday's @8am.. I told him that's not how I understood his website - he then proceeded to speak to me in THE MOST CONDESCENDING AND UNPROFESSIONAL way!! He told me I was wrong , his website was " very self explanatory" and he was sorry that I couldn't read or understand English !!!!!! I was like OMG he is NOT talking to me like that !!! So I politely told him I was sorry I misunderstood the website read him verbatim what his website reads. He ONCE AGAIN told me it was not his fault I could not understand it ! I told him I wanted a refund and HE HUNG UP ON ME!!! I immediately called back asked him why he hung up on me and he claimed we were disconnected. So I said again I would like to a refund and that I wanted my food this week I apologized once again ( which I shouldn't have !!) that i was new ordering this kind of meal plan and he did not need to be rude to me. He then told me I was BEING TOO SENSITIVE and again how I couldn't read English !! I told him are you seriously talking to me like this ???!! He said yes and again told me I couldn't understand English !!! I told him it's amazing how he is acting and that I was going to go to Yelp and FB to let people know not to do business with him!!! He said do what you want if that makes to feel better!! This Matt was the biggest ASSHOLE !! I am shocked how rude and condescending he was!! Do not give his business your money !! He does not deserve anyone's patronage treating people the way he treated me !!! I am Appalled on how incredibly rude he was to me when I did not deserve it in any way!!!! I usually have a good experience here. The first time I went I bought food and it smelt funky. I left it alone and went on about my day. Sunday I went in to grab food since meal prepping is much easier then cooking. Well on Sunday 6/23/2019 I bought food. Today I go and grab some to take for lunch and it all smelt disgusting. I look at the date and it said "eat by 6/22" so I basically bought expired food. Which is disgusting. It smells disgusting and looks disgusting. I called in today and was told to "come in and grab a couple on us" well I went in told them my situation and once I grabbed them I was charged for them. So I basically paid for expired food and now I have to pay for the fresh food??? What! I will never go here again. Soooo DISAPPOINTING. read more

I made a Yelp just to give VMP a review. Valley Meal Prep serves quality food but unfortunately that is the only good thing I have to say about them. Do not expect quality customer service when going here. The owner/chef has an bad attitude- he's right you're wrong and if you don't like it you can leave. But an attitude I can handle, the biggest problem I had with them was their inconsistency. On several occasions I have received different meals than what I've ordered and have noticed that some meals don't come with what is labeled on them. I hope improvements are made because I believe it could be a very good business with the right kind of people operating it. read more

I work nights an wanted to try this place out to take dinners to work. Well right when i walk in it felt very unwelcoming. I asked a few questions since have never been there. I bought a meal just to try. Well later that night at work thought i was going die massive food poisoning. Plus the food an meat taste cheap nasty . I am a recent dialysis patient and my daughter knew I needed help with cooking because I live alone. She ordered 5 days worth of food to see if I even liked it. I am a very very picky eater. The meals are so good 5 stars is not enough. Everything I've eaten is very fresh and delicious. The only issue I have had in the two weeks I've ordered is they have sent me the wrong item or not at all. I called the office an Matt was excellent at taking care of the problem. I will check my order each time but I am not worried because I know they will take good care of me. Did I tell you I am a picky eater? Where is the 10 star button?! Great food, service and education. The cost is very reasonable compared to what I spend on a daily basis. I am getting good quality food. People say sometimes that organic food is expensive but I rather pay now then pay later with bad health. I called the owner today and I am not even a customer yet and he spend a lot of time with me answering any of my questions in detail, was polite and professional. Being a business owner myself I look at the quality of the customer service and then the quality of the product. I've walked in for grab and go meals several times with great results, but this week whole different story. I got 2 orders of asada bowls and got back to the office and neither had any black beans so I called back to let them know. There response was ok thanks for letting us know, no offer to fix my meals, replace or refund just thanks for letting us know. And if that wasn't bad enough I spent 2 hours in the restroom last night sick with food poisoning from the chicken Marsala. The food has gone dramatically downhill and they need to clean up their act quick before they lose even more valuable customers. read more

I highly recommended Valley Meal Prep to any one desiring convenient, delicious, healthy meals. I don't like to cook and have little time to cook. The gourmet Chef and kitchen crew at VMP do all the work for me. I especially like the low sodium and no preservatives used in these meals. One of my favorites is the chicken fajitas!! So flavorful! I'm a first responder and I get all my meals for the week there. I went to pick up my meals this Sunday and they were closed. I was informed by their staff that they stay open until 6. There is also a sign on the door that says they close at 6. I was there at 530. I told a gentleman on the phone what happened and his response was I should've came at 7am and whoever told me they were open until 6 was wrong. Even though the sign on the door says they close at 6 on Sundays. He didn't bother to apologize he just put it on me. I tried to see if they could deliver it to me (I live in the Bay Area). I wish I had read the reviews before started using this service. The food is simple but fine. Price are reasonable. But like other reviews I have since read, the customer service is poor. After I placed my first order online, I called because I wanted to clarify when my order would be ready since I have to drive from Oakdale. The man I spoke with was a little condescending, which I let go. My second order wasn't correct. 3 items were prepared incorrectly and I was missing one item. When I called, the person I spoke with told me she would have the manager call me back within 30 minutes. I never got a call back. I'm very disappointed. Has an advocate of healthy meals. I wanted to try out different places. This is my 3rd meal prep places both was excellent but again something new. I purchased basic low carb with a delivery service. After we discussed a tentative arrival of my meals. I expected my meals by the next day. Well, 30 minutes after our tentative agreement. I called and explained the situation. After a slight hold, they insured me my meals would be delivered the next day. Again, they where 40 minutes late of our tentative agreement. Management finally returned my message. Basically, they FORGOT ABOUT MY DELIVERY AGAIN!!!. She apologized. I thought maybe after the apology perhaps a discount or something to composate of the lack of customer service. Nope!! I was done. Customer service is terrible. I ordered the two month meal plan and paid a good price in advance for this. After my first couple of weeks, I emailed Matt to switch up some of my meals and he immediately responded "No Problem!". The next week came and he didn't switch up my meals. I contacted him again explaining the situation and he apologized and said he would give me a partial refund and make the meals correct for the next week. The next week came and HE DID NOT CHANGE MY MEALS NOR DID HE EVER GIVE ME MY REFUND. I've emailed him THREE times for my refund and called him multiple times and he simply does not pick up or respond even though I was never rude to him and always gracious for his service and time! Getting my order wrong happened before this incident as well. So that's 3 total times he got my order wrong. Just horrendous horrendous service. Never experienced anything this bad. With all that said, the food is tasty at first but with time, you realize it's very low quality. Stay away. I'll never use Valley Meal Prep again. read more

I stopped by for a "grab n go" meal in the evening. Sign said they were open, but no one was around. I had to call out "hello" and realized that just past the bathroom there was an air mattress, and several piles of clothes. It appeared that three people were sleeping in the back. The mattress was clearly visible, and no one seemed to care that there was a customer. A woman did come out and help me, but it was a very weird experience. I don't feel good about eating from a "restaurant" where people sleep and leave their clothes and shoes around. It made me wonder what else they think is acceptable when preparing food. I stop here when I know I'm going to have a busy day at work and I don't want to eat fast food. While VMP is a great concept with acceptable food, they have shorted me (delivered fewer meals than the number for which I paid) on fifty percent of my orders. The first time I was told to add the missing meals into the comments section on my next order, which I did, and they were delivered. The second time I called in and Matt indicated "I will personally cook and deliver your missing meal to you tomorrow." I agreed that was OK with me. I never received the missing meal. The food is anywhere from acceptable to very good, but if you don't get what you pay for even when the owner personally promises to fix the problem it is not a usable service. read more

My husband and I attempted to contact this company for my mother in law, who is ill and has a strict diet. I had questions regarding the meals and was hoping to get some answers. I did not get a chance to try the food. Customer service is terrible. We called alteast 5 times and left messages, and did not receive a return call. I continued my attempts due to the excellent reviews here and on facebook. Finally, after many calls a man by the name of Matt answered with a simple hello. I thought I got the wrong # and when I asked , he assured me it was the right # and that he was the Chef. I told him the trouble I was having getting through and his response was not friendly at all. He said " Everything is on our website and self explanatory". I took this as an insult specially when he did not even know what my question was yet. He then realized he upset me and went on to say that he cannot answer the phones while he is cooking and has salmonella on his hands. I have been enjoying the food at VMP for a few months now and have really enjoyed the ability to eat well without having to prepare the food. Just heat in the microwave and enjoy healthy meals. I have tried "Blue Apron" and "Hello Fresh" but they are much more expensive and you are required to prepare and cook the food. Those plans also limit you to 3 meals for two people as the least amount of food for one week. I ended up throwing food away because it was either too much or went bad before I could prepare and cook. VMP allows me to pick individual meals that I want with no limits. I have been picking up my food weekly because the only possible negative is if you have the food delivered it is not contained in a refrigerated container. The food is keep cold before and during transit but if you are not able to refrigerate/freeze the food when it is delivered, it could become warm. But VMP does deliver anywhere you'd like. I could have the food items delivered to my workplace for a reasonable fee, but since VMP is not too far out of my way on my drive home from work, picking up the food items has been relatively easy. (I'm sure that because the food is delivered in large reusable bags, it keeps the cost down compared to the bulky, wasteful packaging the other companies use). When there have been issues concerning delivery fees or food items not available that I order, I have been given refunds without any problems. Both Matt and Ryan have been very helpful. Have been using Valley Meal Prep for about a year now and I couldn't be happier. I've used other meal prep places before and nothing compares to VMP! So much yummy food to choose from and the prices are great. Love the option for delivery as well. Using VMP saves me time and money. I used to meal prep at home but like most people between kids work and gym I just didn't have the time and it can get expensive.
