He recommended that we install two GFI protected circuit breakers on circuits that weren't grounded, and in doing so we uncovered a problem with the way one of the circuits was wired as turning on the kitchen lights caused the new GFI breaker to trip. He came back the very next day and quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. Jeff is very knowledgeable and efficient in his work, and I'm glad I know have someone to turn to for troubleshooting electrical problems.

He confirmed the outlet was indeed getting power, and that the box needed to be adjusted. It was a quick 30 minute fix (maybe less than 30 minutes but I got some educational incite from him). Glad I went with Hagan Electric to fix this. A previous electrician from Mister Sparky Electric claimed the outlet needed to be rewired and was not getting any electricity. The Mister Sparky Electric guy charged $400 to tell my HOA: "Resident has square D panel which complies with today's standards. No need to change panel." All he did was look at the panel that day. Maybe 15 minutes to say what kind of panel it was and charged $400. Anyways- beware of going to certain companies to have electrical work done. Hagan Electric seems like a good one. The job I had today was pretty simple.

This was a complete house rewire for a 1930 Curtis Park house, which turned out to have a lot of electrical problems. Dan upgraded it to 200 AMP's, put in all new wiring, took out the old knob and tube wiring that was a major fire hazard and had 'hot wires', ungrounded plugs and other problems. Dan was very professional, capable and had good judgement about what to fix and how to go about it. This was a house with a tiny crawlspace and old attic, so it wasn't easy to get around in, but it's up to code (just passed the permit review today), with safe electricity and wiring. He also put in ceiling fans, computer wiring, hard-wired smoke detectors and did the patching of the plaster afterwards. Overall, I felt lucky to have 'found' Dan and have confidence in his work. It was done within a reasonable time and Dan came back to do finish work quickly. Overall, a very good job! read more

Dan was dispatched by our home warranty company to correct problems created by a pool repair company from Chico. The original problem was that the pool pump would not come on. The pool repair company replaced the motor but it ran 24/7. When contacted, the pool repair company disavowed any problems with their repairs. Another electrician was dispatched to look at the equipment but could not figure out the problem. Dan was then asked to come take a look. What he discovered was that the pool repair company had wired the motor directly, fried the timer, and disconnected and removed the power supply for the solar and salt chlorinator equipment. What a mess, but he was able to figure everything out and get us up and running again. I am very glad Dan was the electrician selected. He did a great job! read more

We got quotes from several other electricians in the area. All wanted to do a full rewire that included ripping up our plaster walls. Needless to say my wife & I weren't to thrilled with those ideas & cost (anywhere from $4000 - $10,000) We asked our roofer (who was doing the insulation) if he knew of anyone. He recommended Mike to us. We gave Mike a call & he came over to check things out. He was right on time. Looked around and said a full rewire is not needed. I was shocked. He said he would remove the knob & tube that was still live. As well as update some older wiring that was still safe. His quote was also well below the other guys. When it came time to do the actual work, Mike & his guy showed up right on time again & went straight to work. During this time we kept adding things for him to do (changing out all the ceiling fixtures, adding a bath fan, ceiling fan & additional outlets here & there). Never once did he show that it was to much work or was getting annoyed with us doing this. Once everything was said & done you couldn't tell that they were here. Except for the new outlets & fixtures. None of the walls were torn up. We ended up going over the original estimate due to the adding work we had him do. Which we expected. All in all if you are looking for a polite, knowledgeable, honest electrician give Mike a call. I know we will be when we redo our bathroom.

After 2 weeks I finally had someone come out and give me a quote and he said he probably didn't want to do it but gave us his card anyway. Long story short, Mike didn't give us any of this run around, he picked up the phone when I called, he charged less and he did an excellent job.
