Good place for snacks. Bought a delicious pecan tart for $3.50 & 3 pieces of fried chicken for $3.

Sub sandwiches. The hard part is deciding.

Great prices, selection, and sandwiches. They have subs and panini. Plenty of sides (pasta salad, potato salads, etc) to go with them. Especially on hot days like today (93° "feels like" temp). Grab a gelato by the entrance to cool off. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. I have yet to encounter an employee who doesn't smile back. They may not have everything you need, but I run into that at other stores too.

One of the 2 backs in my package of "chicken thighs ".

I bought a package of chicken thighs. When I opened them up I found two backs in with the five thighs. 1/3 of the product was not what was on the label. The backs are almost all bone. Talk about false advertising and bait and switch. This is a classic example of consumer fraud. How does a store like this get away with this?

I just had to try this Bubble'r Antioxidant sparkling water drink that was shared by fellow Yelper - Nina H, which prompted this visit to Valli Produce. I actually have a client that works at this particular location in Evanston, but I personally have never visited the inside until now. I visited Valli after visiting Dollar Tree, so I left my vehicle near Dollar Tree which prevented the headache of trying to find a spot closer to Valli. Plenty of parking space even though the lot coincides with several other stores within Evanston Plaza. Now, other than the exterior at Valli, I have to say its layout interior reminds me of Mariano's Fresh Market, which I visit every now and then. My visit to Valli came during the morning hours in admist of the coronavirus (COVID 19) outbreak going on worldwide, so the parking lot as well as the inside of the store was well congested with customers shopping for essentials. At first I could not find the sparkling water drink, but one of the employees that was stocking up items ended up assisting me as well as informing me where it may be located after finding that it was not located in the drink aisle. They had it stocked right next to the register which I always view as a stores way of selling a product quicker because of its lack of sales. I did myself a favor by keeping my visit short and only purchasing what I intended on purchasing which was the drink. However, I was borderline at purchasing either Dog n Suds Root Beer or Sioux City Pure Cane Sugar Root Beer until I found the Bubble'r Antioxidant sparkling water drink, thanks to the employee. To conclude, I had a pleasant experience at Valli Produce, but being that I live on the west side of Chicago, a return at this location in particular is very slim because it is 11 miles away, but if ever in the area leaving work most likely and I needed to pick up grocery items I wouldn't hesitate on stopping in. And besides! Two perks for me visiting are that I can visit the Goodwill or Dollar Tree which both sit within Evanston Plaza as well. ~Blessings~ Thomas G

What a bargain for ready to go slice papaya and mangoes.

The bad: been going to this location for over a year, I noticed they are clearly shrinking their size for the same price. And I also noticed it for high selling product. The Belgian waffle took 30% down in size (same price) and they did the same for some breads, like the Trader Joe's Tuscan, same price and but it shrinked. It is not just tariffs people, I am well connected in the food industry, greed is also part of the game. I make a good income I can all afford all of those but the last few times were an absolute joke. Trader Joe's we like you but we see also when you become greedy, if you want to keep my business and other that can afford it, you are going to communicate way more clearly these changes. Tariff sucks, I get it but greed too.

Sometimes they have good sales on particular items, such as produce that's overripe. I really love their selection of prepared foods, both entrees and bakery items. Their tiramisu "Greco traditional style" is some of the best tiramisu I've ever had!! Yes, their recently implemented "bag policy" is somewhat of a hassle, but I imagine they are such a small store that theft is actually an issue. Therefore they are trying to keep their profit margins in the black and I get that! They always have homeless people outside the store, many of whom I now know by name, who are just trying to get something to eat (and they do, from me and other neighbors), but it's still a liability for the store if someone steals from them. This isn't Walmart, i don't condone thieving from local markets!

Do you all know that Kroger once tried to buy Albertsons? I'm not sure if this is still in progress…read moreor not, only that at this point I really hope it doesn't go through. I don't love monopolies, unless I am winning at the board game. So I look up cheap grocery stores, and other than Aldi, Food4Less came up. I found one not too far away from me and decided to venture up there. I walked through the doors and some of the first merchandise I see has the Kroger logo. Go figure. Where it comes to this specific grocery store, variety is one of the items that cost it points Their selection was fair, but the deli department is notably small, and there is no visible butcher shop (though there are meats and seafood for sale). You can more or less find everything you would need among these notably very wide aisles, but perhaps some items would require one to go elsewhere. Among the items they had, the store appeared clean and well stocked. When it comes to their prices, while nothing is cheap anymore, especially in Chicagoland, I found their prices were a little lower than average, especially for the eggs. When it comes to the customer service, this could also be a little bit better. While there was no one at the customer service desk, it had a little sign that said that this register is closed. So... if you need to return something or if a price isn't right, what then? You're just out of luck or something? I'd also like to note that this is a place where you bag your own groceries. Not a problem, necessarily, just thought I'd put it out there. Thus, while I appreciate the lower prices, the slightly limited selection and the lack of customer service cost Food4Less a couple points. Still respectable though, and I can still see myself coming back on occasion.

It's disheartening that while the employees work hard to make this store excellent, the owners' poor management ruins all of that hard work. CASE: Be careful with your car on busy or windy days. Poorly managed carts fly around the lot at very high speed and one of them hit someone's car. They declined to give their insurance info and offered to pay out of pocket instead. The whole time, they ignored my emails and stalled the process until I mentioned court. The manager and owner, Dimitris Svigos and Jonathan Svigos, agreed to reimburse my expenses in the end. But once I gave them the invoices, they ignored me completely and stopped responding. They make this difficult for you on purpose, simply because they can. UPDATE: I filed a small claims case. These two geniuses (one of them with an MBA) let it escalate, and they ended up agreeing to pay triple what we agreed to at first. Brilliant financial decision from the MBA. Then they started looking for excuses not to pay again and decided to hire a lawyer too, instead of just paying and getting it over with. It was another brilliant move from MBA. They also claim they never had authorization to agree to any payment, because the store actually belongs to their parents. So apparently Jonathan, Partner and VP of the store with an MBA, can't handle a small claims case without asking his daddy for permission I'll keep you posted.
