I scheduled a furniture delivery from Value City Furniture weeks in advance to line up perfectly with my move-in date. Just a few hours ago, they called to confirm my delivery date -- only to call again later and cancel the entire delivery, saying it can't happen as planned. This is happening just three days before I move in, leaving me with no furniture and no time to find an alternative. It's incredibly frustrating and unprofessional to first confirm the date and then backtrack the same day. Moving is already stressful, and this last-minute cancellation has made things much worse. I will think twice before shopping here again and would caution others to confirm, reconfirm, and get everything in writing -- because their word clearly isn't reliable. read more

Rating is based on the company of Value City, the staff at this location is great. On 9/22, I ordered a bed and mattress to be delivered on 10/24. On 10/23, we received a confirmation text stating the bed will be delivered on 10/24. Then, a few hours after, we received communication the bed is delayed until 11/7. Then again, a few hours later, on 10/23, we received another update stating the bed will be delivered on 10/24. Overall the communication is lacking and in the end, the bed won't be delivered until 11/7, at the earliest. Value city did not offer any compensation due to their lack of knowledge and communication skills. Please save yourself the headaches. read more

I ordered a table and hairs back in March 2025 and paid in full. I was told it would arrive in June and I'd have two days to pick it up. I had the date down ready to go. Less than a week before pickup I received an email that my item would be delayed until September 3rd. That's another 3 months! I went online and found if I ordered it online I would be given the same date. So what the heck? I called and was given no help, just told that's the date. Next thing I know, I check my tracking and the date is pushed back another week. I called but couldn't get anyone to answer their store phone. Then I checked again and the date was pushed out another few weeks. Again I tried calling with no answer. Finally I received a call this last weekend and was told it would be mid-December and it's because they're coming from China. I was then put on hold for the customer service rep to get me more information and he never returned to the call and just left me on hold. I'm so frustrated and have no idea when I'll actually get my furniture. I need this table snd chairs and I already paid for it in full! Don't buy from here if you actually need furniture. Two of the chairs were defective but they were replaced with new ones within one week. The staff were friendly and professional. What a joke! Bought a $5000 couch one month later stitching coming apart. Called JEFF at store who said the warranty only covered structural and told us to call the "extended warranty" we purchased. They referred us back to this JEFF because the first year is under initial warranty. JEFF said "sorry can't help you have a nice day and hung up on us". My husband and I purchased a new home in mid December. We ordered a sofa and loveseat and paid cash. We had to wait 2 weeks (12/30) to have our furniture delivered. Yesterday, they came to deliver our couches and the loveseat on the truck was the wrong color. We were told we had to wait another 2 weeks to get the loveseat. And... when the delivery guys attempted to bring in the couch, they failed to remove the back and the attempted to force it through the doorway, causing major damage to the door jam of our home. Again, we moved in only 2 weeks ago! How does a delivery company not know the proper way to deliver a couch? I was told we needed to talk to the delivery company about being compensated. Like most comments say, quality is NOT the best. Stuff if nice and looks good and fancy but parts will be made improperly, at the wrong angle, or even have burn marks on the side. We bought 2 dining tables with chairs and the chairs had several marks in the middle of the chair behind the cushion luckily it gets covered , but assembly of the table left the bottom bar at an angle so instead of laying straight in direction of the floor .. it's slightly slanted downwards. This set was made of wood .. currently waiting for a glass one which i hope comes better than the last :) . Also the process to get a new item, return , reimbursement is a whole separate story. I was given a number, need to take pictures , send it to them and they have to check if its a "manufacturer problem" or not but mine was already assembled sooo im not doing all that . I believe it's through a company or third party. Time frame: ordered around april both sets. one set was expected in june which got pushed to july by 2 week difference , Second one is expected October.. I thought this was a decent place with good quality but honestly its 50/50. Other places might have better quality for higher prices .. id go that route if you have the money for it ! read more

My family and I went in on 7/27/2024 to purchase a dinning set, before we purchased we asked Gina if it was in stock(if not we weren't going to buy it), she said yes so we decided to proceed with our purchase. Delivery date was set to 08/02/2024, a few days before got the call that the chairs were out of stock, if we wanted the table shipped out or all together with the chairs. I told them all together, new delivery date was 08/07/2024. Then we were told the table was out of stock and just got the chairs delivered. Today 08/13/2024 we were finally getting our EXTENDABLE dinning table and the delivery team told me while setting up the "leaf" used to extend the table was MISSING. Now I have 6 chairs crammed in this EXTENDABLE table that I can't extend because they didn't send the right parts. The delivery team was nice enough to leave a note and tell me they would call within minutes. Value City Furniture will save you money, that is the entire point of going there. However, you are getting what you pay for so buyer beware. When you go to look at furniture go to multiple stores. I recommend Artvan, Ashley, and then VCF. You will see the differences in price and in quality. I recommend going to VCF last. That will really give you the perspective I have now on how flimsy and cheap their products actually are. Even their store layout speaks to the amount of money they put into their products. So here's my story: I went to this store to buy a leather couch to replace the one I had for over 9 years (Darvin bought). I found a nice brown one with a chase and ottoman for $1000. I couldn't believe it. The sales person at the time presented the couch as "leather." She also sold me leather cleaner for it and the extended warranty. The only reason I bought the warranty was because she said it "covered anything." I asked her multiple times about that warranty, she always came back with "EVERYTHING." A month later the couch started peeling where we sit. More time goes by and it gets worse so we call the warranty number. We explain that the couch is peeling. They say "peeling isnt covered." After several phone calls back and forth VCF will do nothing. THEIR salesperson told me that warranty covered everything. What was happening to the couch was normal wear and tear but because the couch was extremely cheap to begin with it expedited the problem. I also found out that it was bonded leather and not leather, something I would have like to known when I bought the couch in the first place. Its been over a year now and Ive attached a picture to yelp of this couch which needs to be constantly covered in blankets due to the embarrassment of looking at it. I tried one last time to reach out to VCF. I tweeted them, hoping the rest of the world would think before they buy from them. I was directed to their 1888 number. So I called. Waste of time. The operator was very nice, she agreed with me completely that I was getting screwed. She even told me that "the salesperson that helped me was not honest to me." She said it wasnt fair how I was out the $1000 but she could not do anything for me. Yes, you heard it hear, VCF's own customer service team admitted I was screwed by their salespeople but could not do anything to resolve my situation.......Why? Because they already had my money silly :) So if you are a new family starting out, or you are looking to save some money, do yourself a favor and avoid Value City Furniture. Walmart, Meijer, Craigslist, Resale shops, Wayfair.com, there are just so many other resources out there to save money and be treated more honestly. Or save up a little and buy furniture that will last you. Good evening, First I want to say that running a business during this pandemic isn't easy and I commend those front line workers that put their life on the line to support their families. Having said that, my experience with Value City Furniture has been a complete, unmitigated disaster. My wife and I bought a new home so we wanted some new furniture to go with it. Settled on over $5000 of furniture that consisted of an end table, dining table with six chairs and a complete bedroom set( two dressers and a bed). We purchased on Labor Day and took advantage of the 0% interest, our delivery date was set for late October (23). Even though is was later then we wanted, we felt the furniture was worth the wait especially because they told us Covid has slowed their production. The first issue I had was that I received a bill from the bank saying my first payment was October 5 even though we hadn't received the furniture. Since I work for a bank, I thought there must be a clerical error. I called the store but nobody ever could explain why I got a bill for merchandise I hadn't received yet. To this day, nobody has been able to answer that simple question but I overlooked it since I thought I would receive the furniture in a couple of weeks. The night before delivery, someone from Value city said that the furniture didn't come in and pushed the delivery back another week. The new date was November 7th but on the day of delivery, Value city called and said that the table base was missing and all the other furniture was still delayed! I thought a table with no base doesn't work for us so we said that we'd wait for the base to be delivered together. The new delivery date was set for November 23! On November 22, Value City called to let me know that the table was now in but the chairs, end table and bed were still delayed! I received a table with no chairs and dressers with no bed! My new delivery date is December 7 for the chairs and January 22 for the end table. Throughout this process, I have called corporate, the general manager of the store, written emails, and have gotten not one answer at all. To summarize, I've bought furniture at the beginning of September, have made 3 payments for furniture I don't have, been given a dining table with no chairs, been given a bedroom set with no bed! This has been the worst customer experience that I've ever experienced! All consumers ask is that you're honest with them, not only have we been consistently lied too, but we've been swindled to pay for furniture we don't have. I'm sure their has been several consumer laws that have been broken. Using Covid as an excuse to take advantage of people is beneath anything that I can comprehend. Do NOT buy furniture from here. My boyfriend and I bought 2 new couches for our house in the beginning of January. One was supposed to come January 25th and the other on February 22nd because it was out of stock. Fine. We get a call a few days before January 25th stating they will both be here February 22nd because now the loveseat is also out of stock. We got a call 3 days before our delivery date to confirm our delivery. Wonderful. I received a call LESS THAN 24 HOURS before our February 22nd delivery date stating that only 2/3 of the loveseat would be delivered and none of the couch because the rest is out of stock. What?! My boyfriend and I EACH called their customer service line 4 TIMES, only to be left on hold for a half hour each time. We never got through to anyone to cancel our delivery because we don't want 2/3 of a loveseat sitting in our living room. My boyfriend had to call the store directly and cancel, and now they are saying our couches won't be here till April 27th. 4 MONTHS just to have couches delivered?! No thanks. I went shopping with my son for a couch for his new apartment. Years ago I bought furniture from Value City in Aurora, so I thought it would be a good place to go. Well, it was the first and the worst experience for him. He ended up getting a couch from their clearance section and really liked the couch. However, it did not fit into his apartment. When he took it back to the store, they wouldn't let him return it. We were never told by the sales person or the person that handled the transaction that it could not be returned. A family member had to step in and store the couch in their garage just so the rented truck could be returned. When I called the manager, she told me that the no return policy was on the back of the receipt. However, you do not get the receipt until after it is purchased. She also told me that sales was not required to tell customers it was a final sale but would confirm if you asked. This was not good customer service at all. Buyers should be informed of such policies before purchasing. My sons first furniture buying experience was horrible and he is out $500. I will never shop at Value City again. Ashley Furniture was the worst, with a pushy saleslady who told me I'd better buy that day or the price was going up on a sofa I liked. The salesman, Al, at Value City Furniture wasn't very friendly, but he didn't pressure me to buy and I had a new sofa within the week. Both he and his manager did try to sell me the warranty, as seems to be the way these days, but I firmly told them 'no.' The sofa is decent. We're enjoying it. Value City is a good place for furniture. This particular location is smaller than the one I just visited in Arlington Heights and the one in Niles. The selection is good, and they have good prices. Some people believe that the quality isn't as good, but it is pretty good quality. Many other furniture stores around may have slightly better quality, but their prices are also much higher. Called Value City and was told that I had to return it TO THE STORE - 45 minutes from my home. They have NO return policy to return items that were shipped. They said I could call FED EX to see where the order originated from and maybe be able to ship it back to them. In a world living by mail order this is the ODDEST thing I have seen! What a dump. This place is crawling with slimey sales people that think any piece of furniture is great for you. Ever go to a used car dealership? Yeah... that type of salesperson... EVERYWHERE. We went to compare a sectional that we saw at JC Penney just to make sure we had found the best deal in the area. The store was clean and sort of organized. I say sort of because each aisle should have a theme - couches, bedrooms, kitchen, etc. Nope, not this store - mix and match frenzy. It seemed that everytime we walked into a new "section" a sales person would pop out of the corner. It was almost like we were in a haunted house... terrible. I understand that in retail commissions, you have to be a db... but these guys and gals were the ultimate form of db's. No means tell me more. You don't have the couch I want means I can order this one in a different color. Too much means I can get a financing application for you right now - don't worry you'll be approved (at like a gazillion % interest, I'm sure.) And most of all - the one that really got me mad... Sorry, we're not interested (after saying no a few times), well, you won't find a better deal anywhere else - you'll come back. WINSTON 4 PIECE SECTIONAL I have purchased plenty of items from VCF .. Kitchen tables .. bedroom sets .. etc this is by far the most expensive purchase as well as the worst purchase. My fiancé and I purchased this couch in October of 2020 .. we did not receive it until March of 2021 by JULY 2021 I had to call and request a technician. The feathers in this couch were coming out at an alarming rate. You could not sit on the couch without putting a blanket down first or the feathers would poke you and make it so uncomfortable. The very first seat on the couch was already sunken in and my fiancé and I are not heavy people. The couch started to look worn quickly.... the fabric is so cheap that little knit balls form on the sofa like after you wash a sweater. I have to use a shredder I found on Amazon for your clothes to rid the couch of the little balls. I was told by the location in Aurora that I would receive all new pillows but it will take up to EIGHT MONTHS !!! I called in October of 2021 to check on the status to find out that no one even placed the order for my pillows. I was told that they would give me a full exchange using the manufacturer's warranty. I purchased the 4 piece couch. I did not receive my replacement couch until January of 2022 and they only brought me THREE pieces instead of 4. Where do I even begin.... I bought a couch in April and am STILL having issues with not only the couch but mainly the service. Let me point out, it is August. Imagine being on hold with Comcast and then double the frustration and that is the kind of service you get with this store. I knew exactly which couch I wanted and have friends who have the same one. Awesome couch. HORRENDOUS customer service. I had the couch delivered, and when it was assembled, the men who put it together said there was a wrong part on it so the 2 pieces that should be connected and make an "L" could not be connected.... and then left. I had to then call someone myself because there is no communication among the teams. I actually had to call not only the store I bought it from but also the store it was being delivered from and they just kept trying to pawn me off on each other. FINALLY, I had to set up a delivery and they then told me it would be 3 weeks... when it was their mistake. I have never been more angry at a couch. THEN when the 2nd delivery came (mind you, they give you a "window" of time when they're going to be there and give you a 15 min heads up when they're there. I had to leave work in the middle of the day and you cant tell them when you will be home..... doesnt make sense) the 2nd couch was BROKEN. The delivery guys set it up and told me the leg broke off but gave it a "temporary" fix by stapling it together... literally told me to watch when I'm sitting on it. It is now August 12 and I STILL DON'T HAVE A WORKING COUCH. I called customer service and was put on hold to speak with a manager and after waiting 15 min on the line I hung up and called again. At this point, they knew I was furious. I was told a manager would call me back that day.... go figure, no call. Finally, I called back the next day and spoke to a "manager" who said there was nothing that could be done and would not even offer me any type of discount/return/free puppy or anything. I will literally never buy anything from Value City again. If anyone wants a Cordoba -- contact me. It burns my eyes just looking at it (no offense to the couch). Since we've moved practically every 6 months, I hate getting nice furniture that either has to get packed up & sit in storage or get dinged up in the moving process. You can get decent furniture for Target-esque prices, but looks better than Target furniture! We just bought 4 dining chairs for our apartment from VC. The salesperson narrowed down my options for me pretty quickly (black chairs to match a black dining table) so I wouldn't have to stroll the aisles carrying a 13 lb. baby. I was done shopping in 20 minutes, which made me & my napping baby very happy. 1 star docked for the pick-up option. The customer service in the pick-up department is ridiculously slow. I wasn't a huge fan of the pushy salespeople, but once I found someone who stuck out from the crowd I was able to tell everyone else, "We're already working with Sandy." I wasn't sure if we would be working with her or not at the time. It just got everyone else off of our backs and Sandy would come check on us every now and again, but nothing rushed. My heart was set on a sectional because the space in my living room is a little awkward. It is a long space that is a bit narrow. The previous furniture only allowed three people to sit comfortable and I wanted to be able to host more guests. A sectional was the only thing that would work; however, I was looking for a specific type and Value City seemed to be the only ones who made them the way I needed. Everything is a bit pricey, but we're talking relatively cheap compared to what you are going to pay just about anywhere else. At first the things looked cheap to me, but the more I walked around the better I felt about them. I could get something that looked more elegant from another store, but I would pay twice as much and probably not be as comfortable. I came back to get my sectional and the price had gone up from the previous week. Sandy did everything in her power to get me the best deal that she could. She saved me at least $100 and stayed past her scheduled work time to complete the sale when my bank was being difficult about such a large purchase. We finally got everything straightened out and my sectional was delivered the next week at the beginning of the time slot they gave me. I couldn't be happier. read more

I was given different information from the other store, there was a miscommunication or misunderstanding on the stores pick up hours. I was very frustrated as I drove over a half hour to pick up the furniture, and it wasn't an option for me to come back 2 hours later. We went today to check out their designs on bed and couch. While entering the store a blonde lady smiled and said hello! I smiled back and greeted her only to release she dint greet me but an American woman behind me. She looked at me and dint acknowledge at all. It was a very rude and unprofessional behaviour. My husband and I roamed full store and I went to her to ask order time and delivery time. She was so blunt and was giving one word answers.
