This place is awesome. I came here because I read all of the good reviews on yelp. When I arrived I was greeted by very friendly professional gentleman. He walked me inside and I waited for about 15 minutes and the smog check was done. They are fast friendly and efficient. The smog check cost $49.95. Anytime I need a smog check I will come here and I will recommend it to all of my friends and family. I got recommended here by my brother in-law and I'm so happy I did. Probably the best customer service I have ever received at any smog shop. The owner and his son are so kind and welcoming. I had an illegal cat on my newly purchased but used 4 runner that I had no idea about. The owner let me know all of my options and even took the time to let me go get paper work I had on the replaced cat and look at it with me, call the shop that put it on and try and find out what I could do. Unfortunately I had to get a new cat. joe only charged me for a part of the smog check and told me to come back when I had it replaced and he would take care of the rest (not the money portion but the smog). When I came back after getting it replaced again super friend super welcoming and got me right in. No wait time. I'm am so happy I chose this place over any other. If I could award more than five stars I would. Definitely would recommend to a friend. read more

my vehicle is 10 years old and has 50,000 miles on it. I get it serviced regularly at the dealership and had it serviced about 4 months ago. I did not pass the smog test at Value Smog. I was shocked. The owner was extremely nice and professional . He tried to show me what the problem was ( a small leak in a hose somewhere...which I personally could not detect anything coming up from the engine. )). He told me to take it back to the dealership since he was not authorized to do repairs. I drove down the street to another smog test shop and it passed with no problems. I asked if there was an issue and they said no...car is fine. So?????? I just wasted 40 dollars. Both Smog testing spots were Star certified. read more

So wished I lived nearby to take advantage of Value Smog. We have been having troubles with getting our 1998 car to pass its smog tests. For some reason two settings (EVAP and catalytic converter) weren't reading, and the test was not able to administered. We live in L.A. and were told by three Star station mechanics to just drive the car for hundreds of miles at freeway speed (tough to do in LA by the way. Hence, the movie "Speed".) We had driven to Santa Barbara twice, Riverside and now to Palm Springs, and Joe at Value Smog took a preliminary reading and said it still wasn't reading. He told us that we didn't need to do all those trips! One would have been enough, and if the reading didn't happen then, the car needed repair. Unfortunately, it was a Friday, and he couldn't do it that day. So we were forced to drive it back to LA and go to another Star station and insist they look at how to repair. It looks like they found the problem (slow oxygen sensors) and hopefully we can get it repaired and test done properly. Thankfully Joe was honest with us and gave it to us straight. Or we'd be driving to New York by now. read more

What can be said about Joe that someone else hasn't already said 100's of times over? He answered every question I emailed to him (several) and all in less then an hour from the time I sent them. I scheduled my appointment on a day that was a bit hectic already for me but Joe was extremely flexible and that made it a lot easier. I took my BMW in and from the time I arrived till the time I drove off with my receipt in hand and everything completed was about 20 mins and cost under $50! i called them to find out what i had to do to smog my car, they graciously gave me the information and told me that i did not have to bring in the coupon, they would, without the coupon , honor the discounted price. i asked if they could try to service my car that day and they told m they had an opening within the next half hour. we drove there, they were were nice, their waiting room although not beautiful, has comfortable chairs. they wer very honest, that they could not address some other problems i had with the vehicle but that the problems i indicated would not interfere with the necessary smog check. within 20 minutes they came back with a smog certificate and indicated that the vehicle had passed the star smog inspection . they did, without question, honor the discounted price.. they told me they had transmitted the information to dmv and gave me a copy of the report. i am very happy with the service, very happy with the very nice people who run this establishment and would certainly recommend them to everyone. a very pleasant experience indeed. and today, i registered my vehicle via telephone and the certificate was already there! read more
