I am beyond disappointed in the service I received on Tuesday, March 24th. I decided to get an oil change on my break, as I always do. However, this time my experience was extremely frustrating. I spent 45 minutes waiting for a simple oil change. During that time, an employee attempted to upsell additional services, but I declined and requested only the oil change. After about 40 minutes, I went outside to ask how much longer it would take. A younger Hispanic man told me it was done and that they were just completing a safety inspection. When I went back inside and looked out the window, I saw that no safety inspection was being performed. This aggravated me because if I'm stepping outside to ask for an update, it's clear I'm already growing impatient. After several minutes of no safety inspection being done, he finally collected my payment. He then told me I could back my car out myself. Normally, they always pull my car to the front, but this time he didn't. When I asked if he could pull it up, he responded that he didn't have to, but he would. I found this extremely rude, especially since that level of service has always been the standard at this location. I went outside and told him not to worry about it. Then I realized my key had never been handed to me. After looking around, I found it sitting in the drink holder. This upset me even more because he didn't hand me my key or even tell me where it was left. I am very understanding of customer service workers, and I am usually patient. However, the treatment and lack of care I received from this staff member were unacceptable. I spoke to a manager, and she stated she would address the issue. So I learned something today that I didn't know. Valvoline Express Care and Valvoline Instant Oil Change are 2 totally different companies. I have been taking my cars to Valvoline Instant Oil change for more than 3 years. A few differences between the 2 immediately noted, here you do not stay in your car, the technician drives it into the bay for you while you wait in the small lobby with a TV, an additional monitor giving a view of the garage, gumball machines and a low tech coffee pot. Also, the coupons that Valvoline Instant email to customers are of no use here. Once I arrived my day was planned. Even though I could not cash in my coupon I was not leaving. This is long overdue. I have been bringing my car here for years. Many months ago, I brought it here as usual, and afterwards went to do an errand. When I left my errand, my oil light came on. I pulled over immediately, and called this shop, because I knew something was not right. The manager sent one of the employees out to find me, and check. As it turned out, they had a new employee, who did not screw the plug in properly, and all of my oil drained out. I drove the car around a little, the employee drove it around a little bit, and it seemed OK. The following Monday, it made a noise, I took it to my mechanic, and he said it needed a new engine. Keep in mind I had just gotten done fighting with an insurance company, so I could keep this car. I love my car. Seriously. I have an irrational attachment to this car. So, when I went to the shop, to tell them they ruined my engine, I was (metaphorically, of course) feet shoulder width apart, and fists up, ready for a fight. The manager did not hesitate. He said "this was our fault, and we'll fix it." I almost fell over. It turned out they had a new employee, who did not screw the plug-in properly. He got right on finding a used, warrenteed engine, with less mileage than the one in my car, and arranging for the old one to be replaced. once they have the engine, I dropped my car off, and had it back by the end of the week. They reimbursed me for the rental car I needed while they had mine. I have moved to North Arlington, but I will make a point whenever possible to drive up here to get my oil changed. It seems unfortunately rare to find this level of honesty, and accountability, and I appreciate them for it. July 2020, and the engine they replaced with is still going strong! read more

A good place but to be honest seems like it's gone down hill like everything else has in this world. I've been going here for over 5+ years. They use to have short wait times and never had an issue. Well a few days ago I came into get an inspection, to only find out they weren't doing inspections due to "their machine" being down. So I came in a few days later and had to wait 45 minutes for an oil change and inspection. Which is fine. But the dude told me it was all done and was about to check me out and he told me the total. $50+ and I asked if that was with the inspection included. He said no and he'll get it done right away which was great but don't understand why y'all can't follow simple instructions. Then not even a minute later he starts complaining under his breath about doing services for the customers. If you don't like your job that's fine but don't complain in front of customers. May have to find a new oil change place soon.... oh and also not to mention idk why but the past few years when I've gone in they use to reset my oil gage but the past 3/4 times going here they haven't done it... smh read more

I came in today because the original place i looked up was closed. I had a phenomenal experience. I only needed my state inspection done but the customer service was great! As soon as I parked my car someone came up to me. (I thought they were getting a car near me or something at first) but instead he said hello and I let him know what I was getting. He took my care and insurance and was at it right away. I walked in to the lobby to wait, it was a very cute, clean, comfy place! The restrooms were clean, looked like a restroom at someone's house. There was no one at the desk, a different car service came and checked me out, and the porter brought my keys. All 3 of the men I interacted with were so polite! Car inspection was $25! read more

Doug. My man. I have a Toyota specific shop on the far far side of town but occasionally I need an oil change close to home. Enter Doug. Always fast and friendly. Always professional. He's at the door to check you in and greet you with a smile. They changed my oil and then I had a strut go out and I limped in. I left knowing I'd have my car back asap. I had totally forgot, though, that my cousin had left his car seat in my car and they were leaving town on a Sunday when Doug's was closed. Doug (the proprietor) and his team are wonderful! My Dodge Caliber had been making a sound not unlike the Tardis. The car had been tuned up elsewhere (that mechanic said the car sounded fine), and recently passed inspection. However, the noise kept getting louder and louder. Hubby and I are not fan of the "we'll take a look at it for $85" businesses. Last week he took the car to Valvoline for an oil change. Doug got in the car, drove it into the bay and said, "yep! That's an alternator bearing," and told Hubby that Dodge Calibers have shoddy alternators. He proceeded with the oil change and gave him an estimate for replacing the alternator. He also gave Hubby a mail-in rebate for $20 off the synthetic oil change. We returned Saturday morning to replace the alternator and the work was done that afternoon - and within $15 of the original estimate. My car sounds like it did when I bought it 4 years ago. My daughter had the oil changed in a nice vehicle we got her for college years. She was just home for Thanksgiving with only a few thousand miles on the "oil change." Pretty sure from the looks of how dark the oil is that they never even changed it, and it was a quart overfilled which can ruin the engine. Our whole family has been extremely loyal to Valvoline oil and Valvoline shops for decades, but we won't be going back to this particular shop. Another Valvoline shop is currently changing the oil for real to rectify the situation, though we can only hope that the last few thousand miles driving with an overfill on oil didn't damage the engine. read more

Came in on a Saturday morning expecting to have a long wait ahead of me for an oil change. There were about 5 or 6 people in front of me so I figured I may be camping out. To my surprise, Valvoline Express had me out of there in 15 minutes. The service was friendly, and the waiting area was way above par for an oil and lube shop. The best part about the service was that I did not hear an employee tell a single person ahead of me the whole air cabin filter shtick or the "Im surprised your car made it this far without xyz" scare tactic to drum up prices like most of the other local shops. I have been coming here for years and it is hands down one of the best places to go for car care! The owner is a good honest man and will not overcharge you. I have come many times for small things like air in my tires and he checks it for free and adds to for free. the nicest people ever! my family has always gone to them and I always recommend them to other friends and family. 2 weeks ago I bought a pre-owned car from a dealership and the engine light came on and some funny noises started. of course I was frustrated and started getting discouraged because this is the first car I've ever bought. I went to my dealership to ask them to take a look at it but they told me a mechanic couldn't look at it for about 4 days. Why???? a dealership with a whole service department can't look at the car I JUST bought from them?! They couldn't even tell me if it was safe to drive or not! Right after I decided to drive up to valvoline to see if they could do something for me. sure enough they stopped what they were doing to check my light and the suspension. they were able to tell me it was just because of the cold weather and It would be safe to drive. he even checked my anti freeze for me!
