Very slow and more expensive than going to a local garage. Haven't been thrilled with my experiences at Valvoline (throughout Massachusetts not just the Hudson location). Went in for an oil change on Friday. Employees were extremely unprofessional, messing around the entire time. Fast forward to Monday, dropping my KIDS off at school, smelled burning oil and smoke started billowing out of my hood. Looked under my car and there was TONS of oil on the ground. Called Valvoline because I obviously knew they messed something up on Friday. Manager and his manager came out nonchalantly without any empathy at all. Told me that in order for it to be covered, they would have to tow it back to Valvoline to diagnose the issue and then "go from there". They towed it back to the shop and there was less than HALF OF A QUART of oil left in my vehicle (takes 5.8). The manager called me 4 hours later to tell me that one of his guys snapped the gasket by overtightening it when putting it on. Assured me that everything was fixed and "cleaned" and showed pictures of the snapped gasket. Told me that there "shouldn't be anything wrong with the engine". REALLY?! Wake up this morning, three puddles of oil under my car. Have the vehicle brought to VW. VW says that less than a half a quart of oil is extremely worrisome in that vehicle. Called corporate and they transferred me back to the store manager who not only refuses to issue a refund for the $150 oil change that is now causing me 3 days of issues, but also refuses to reimburse the diagnostic at VW because there "shouldn't be anything wrong with the engine". SHERIN IS THE BEST!! They are the ABSOLUTE BEST!!!! I was 1000 miles over for a oil change and ALL the Dealerships around me within a 50 mile radius were booked out for quite some time. I was driving by and pulled right into the bay. They quickly addressed every single step that they were doing, while I sat in the car. They had me wait for 3 hours in heat and failed to refill refrigerant after 46 minutes of machine hook up and I had to ask someone why it's blinking. He and his team did a courtesy check of lights, filters and stuff, and offered service if needed. Of course the consumer can decline offers. No complaints. I purchased a Groupon for a full synthetic oil change at either the Marlborough or Hudson location. I chose to go to Hudson since it's in my town. I get there and wait in line to have a woman come out and tell me that they don't do oil changes on my fist. I said ok I'll just go to the Marlborough one (where I had previously had my oil changed many times), and she says "we had a meeting and we don't do oil changes on this car anymore ". Are you kidding me!!??? She proceeds to tell me that "only a mechanic will change it". If you're not a mechanic then what the heck are you? Maybe you shouldn't post Groupon's and not have stipulations on the cars you won't take. I also don't understand what's so hard about changing the oil on a Fiat? I take 5w-30 synthetic and a regular oil filter. Sullivan, mobile, and various other retailers told me they'd be happy to change my Fiats oil. Ridiculous! read more

Each time was definitely different. No consistency with how my car was given service throughout the one year I have had and taken my car here. First bad experience was when they were replacing my windshield wipers and I saw the mechanic broke my left one while putting it in and didn't even mention it. At first I thought nothing of it because you would assume they would tell you if they had just damaged a piece you just paid for. It flew off a day later when it was absolutely pouring out so I then realized he had actually broken it because I hadn't touched it once. Just today I decided to bring my fiat ( which I have brought in to this exact location at least 3-4 times already with in less than a year I've had this vehicle) the mechanic who I haven't seen told me they don't do fiats. This is where I took my fiat to get all my oil changes like my last one towards the end of the summer. Please keep in mind I understand fiats are different but I specifically took of the shield they had a hard time with the first time and ever since I did that my next oil changes were very easy. Very nice guys but oh my goodness the service just doesn't cut it. No consistency in the staff or the work they can do. If you are looking for a place to get consistent oil changes this place might not be it. Very strange to be turned away for an oil change at a place where you not only got oil changes every time but other services on this exact car. I'm in their file with all the work they have done for me. They can do fiats but I just don't think the men there we're equipped with the knowledge handle it like the previous workers who gave me no problems with oil changes at least. I usually really like this place. People are usually friendly and do their jobs well. But..... there is a manager there now (January 2022) who thinks it's ok to fly into fits of rage at customers! Yikes! I'm pretty easy going. I'm at least twice his age, and a woman (I'm old). I asked if he could supervise the new kid who was noticeably in training to do oil changes (everybody needs training when they start out). It's not out of the ordinary. Well, that was I guess what lit his anger fuse. This manager kept coming back to my window for the duration of this oil change railing (really railing! At me!) about...everything he could think of! That I didn't know about cars or mechanics or windshield wipers or computers, etc. I figured that he just had to get these frustrations off his chest and then he would calm down. The most disturbing part is that he did not calm down. He ramped it up! At me! Yikes. I can't go there anymore because of this encounter. I think he may be the type who would be vindictive. Awful. They told me my rear diff fluid was low, tried to charge me 130$ for a rear diff flush. I told them I'd do it myself and left. Went home, put it on my lift and noticed the plug still full of mud. They didn't even check it and tried to rob me of my money. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they charged me and didn't even open my rear diff. They have no clue what's going on and I've never seen anything like it. Total scam. Don't trust these guys. You might as well go to valvoline in Worcester, those guys didn't try to scam me and were quick and honest. On Sunday, October 13th, I brought my car in for an oil change. After the service was complete, I attempted to exit onto Washington Street. My car shuddered and then died in front of oncoming traffic. I immediately returned to Valvoline where they "figured out what happened" which was that they pulled the transmission plug instead of the oil plug. They did not tell anyone this happened and proceeded with the change. In an effort to remedy the situation, the tech performed a full transmission fluid change at no charge. I exited and my car lurched around the block again. I returned. At this point, it seemed no one knew what to do or what had happened. I have now dropped my car off at the mechanic. Following my experience today, I have learned from several people that my experience is not unique & that several people have had similar experiences and Valvoline has completely dismissed the claims and concerns of these individual. As such, I have no confidence that Valvoline will do the right thing such as pay for what will likely be a costly repair from the mechanic and a rental car because I have to get to work this week. read more

Went to a different location for a routine oil change and left with a leak in my oil tank. I went back to the same location for them to tell me there was "nothing they could do" and to come back on a better day. The next day I went to this location and was greeted by the employees, letting me know they were short handed and they apologized for the wait. After they looked at my car, the gentleman working on it told me that if there was still a leak and a puddle under my car in my garage to come back and they would redo the service. The next day I went right back and they took another look. Another gentleman and the manager informed me the plug for the oil was put on too tight and completely stripped the thread. True to their word they fixed my issue free of charge. Although this issue took longer than a normal service was, everyone was extremely polite, apologized for the wait, and went above and beyond to make this right for me. I can't say enough fantastic things about the employees here, they deserve a holiday or a medal or a steak dinner and a Charms Blowpop for their amazing effort. read more

Owner is overbearing. To the point where he makes you feel stupid. He told me it would be really hard to find a wiper blade for the back window of my Prius. Guess what? I drove across the street at AutoZone and bough one for $12 instead of $22. As I was leaving he told me to come back when my husband isn't able to fine that type of blade. He also told me I need a new air filter. I did! But instead I bought the new one at AutoZone for $11 instead of the $39 they charge. I am a woman and I was able to figure it out on my own. Do yourself a favor and buy your wipers and filters on your own. You are getting ripped! read more

I've been to many other Valvoline locations and have had great service, with minimal push for additional services. This location is a danger zone. First, I waited over 20 mins for one of the three bays to open up, the actual service took at least 15-20 mins. Not sure why they needed 3 guys working on my one car, when literally all they did was change the oil- and the rest of the time was spent goofing off with each other and laying on their sleazy sales tactics. They didn't refill my wiper fluid or put air in my tires, which I desperately needed. They tried to up sell me on an unnecessary air filter (I just bought a new one 6 months ago), power steering fluid, and claimed I had a head light out. I checked out the fluid and light when I left and both were fine. Definitely would not recommend. read more

My wife and I have been using Valvoline for many many years and in those years we have been treated with the upmost respect. They have always informed us of what manufacturer recommended services are and if we could hold off on doing some of them. They have never tried to convince us do something that we do not want to do or that was not recommended by the manufacturer. Some people say but you can go to a auto parts store and buy what you need cheaper although this is true if that was your intentions you would not be going to Valvoline to have someone else do it for you. I'll preface this by saying I've been going to this location for years and have always had good experiences until today. This morning I came for an oil change and was 1st in line, told it would be 5-10 minutes until I could pull up. 40 minutes later, and after being told by 2 different techs that it would be another 5-10 minutes, I asked how long I could really expect. The tech (the 'manager', Tim) said they couldn't know because they don't know what a service will be until someone drives up. Fair enough, but after the person pulls in, you should know what they asked for and about how long something will take, right? When it was my turn (I waited about 45 minutes), I got the hard sell on pretty much everything- higher quality oil (again, fair enough), and a list of other pricey services. He said it was for 'safety' but yet never checked my brake lights or directionals so it seemed I was just getting pitched services I didn't want or need. When I told him I just wanted the oil change, he got really defensive and told me 'telling me you don't want these services won't get your oil changed any faster'. He clearly thought I was an impressionable, easy target woman, and was really aggressive with me to the point that even after I repeatedly told him he was making me uncomfortable, he persisted. I asked who the manager was and he just pointed at his name tag, which read 'manager' with 'Tim' stitched above it in black so it was hard to see. Even managers have managers, but he wouldn't tell me who his was. Hopefully this is a one-person staff issue and maybe another manager there will read this, because I felt bullied and honestly very threatened and unsafe. When I left (I asked to just wrap up and leave without any services because I was that upset) he told me not to come back - not to worry, I definitely won't be back to that location ever again. read more

I used a groupon for a synthetic oil change. I have been doing synthetic since I owned this truck and I know what it looks like at 2000 miles. They used regular oil. Fact. The oil is now almost black. I'm extremely angry with this. You are not supposed to go regular after using synthetic.
