I've always known Valvoline Instant Oil Change as the place where you pull up, wait in your car for a few minutes to get a speedy oil change, and then off you go. That's what Valvoline used to be. Now, it's nothing short of a gamble as to how long your wait will be as you sit behind what is essentially someone else's auto dealership service visit. The Valvoline wait problem is real. 45+ minute wait for a single oil change - it's inexcusable. It's easy to think this location's technicians are either incredibly slow, selling too much - or both. I really believe though that this is a situation in which Valvoline, Inc. can't get its branding and workflow right and that locations like this are at the mercy of having to sell more services for profit while in the process sacrificing the speed Valvoline promises as a brand. It makes sense: Offer an 18-point service check, find other vehicle issues, and upsell. But that's not who you've been as a brand, and continue to promote yourself to be, Valvoline. The name of your location is, "Valvoline Instant Oil Change." So you make more money with more repair services and I'm all for getting work done so I'm safe behind the wheel - but that's not why I go to Valvoline. I go there to get an oil change quickly and get out. There is no reason why I should choose Valvoline for extended service repairs like flushes given that auto dealers and other auto repair shops have stepped up their waiting areas with more comfort and amenities. In the amount of time it took yesterday to get my oil change at Valvoline sitting in my car, I could have booked online with my auto dealer and gotten multiple things fixed while relaxing comfortably in its waiting area with coffee and snacks, or working on my computer being productive with high-speed internet. I still need some other service done according to my Valvoline check but after the wait for the oil change and then the service itself, I had no interest. The guy in front of me got an oil change, new filter, and, lo and behold, there was something wrong with his gas tank knob! I hope they got as much money from him as they could while the rest of us waited and waited and waited. Michael, my service technician, acknowledged the wait, but didn't apologize for it, nor did he offer any make-good. I'm sure that's because he didn't think there was anything wrong - it was just busy. That is the problem: His job is to sell and fix no matter how long it takes. Hopefully, the Valvoline bosses above him will stop getting their wires crossed and help him do a better job of that with branding, and workflow and logistical changes. Soon - if not instantly. The service or lack of is trash. I have numerous Val online receipts and from out of town where I'm always serviced. I arrive at location, show receipts for life of car and am told they cant provide me service because of the year of my car, even though it's fully restored and newer than any car there mechanically. 1971 dodge charger gets multiple compliment daily. I was left without service and feel as if not only was I racially targeted but that they just didn't want to do the work and were trying to close early. It was past 6:00 PM and these gentlemen did not turn me away. These guys were working hard! It was hot and the day had been long but they were still in good spirits working the thing. I waited over an hour for an oil change while watching four cars in a different lane get serviced and leave, all while only one car was ahead of me. The Valvoline at 7970 N. Macarthur Boulevard, Irving, TX 75063 has terrible queue management. The approach lanes Are right in the middle of Through lanes. There are different queues for the three Service Bays. So if you are in the queue where the previous vehicle is taking a long time, then you are going to wait a long time While other Bays move faster. There has to be a single queue of incoming vehicles. There has to be queue management. I have four vehicles and have never gone to Valvoline after my last bad experience six months ago. They suck at Queue Management and don't understand that drivers are waiting too long. This problem is probably for the Zipcode 75063. Cannot say about others. read more

They no longer empty to oil properly. They suck it out through the oil fill so all of the debrief, metal and other contaminants are not drained out. Then they put new oil over that crap so the new oil is immediately full of the things that will destroy your engine. Fast - somewhat; nice - yes; effective - Not even close. read more

I am pretty particular about where I take my car and I have to say I was impressed with this Valvoline location. The team was attentive, did not pressure me into unnecessary add-ons, and worked quickly without cutting corners. I paid close attention and they checked everything thoroughly from fluids to tire pressure and explained what they were doing step by step. I went to get a state inspection as required by the county. I waited in line about 15 minutes in line for the only bay marked for inspection service before I was next to drive into the bay for service. An employee requested I back up move to another bay and wait in another line to allow another customer receive more immediate service. There was only that one car in line which I saw drive up moments before me. When I saw this, I asked to speak to the manager. The assistant manager, Christian, approached explaining with the nastiest attitude that the other customer had been waiting for 45 minutes. Whereever the nasty attitude derived from was none less than the conjured lie about why he shuffled the order of service. Their business model is out of date. They should be coming up to the cars and setting times behind the cars they are servicing so that the customer waiting in lines are not having to pick their chances of the lines. We arrived at 1 and waited until 3. We watched the lane to the left and right of us move while the car in front of us & the car in front of them was getting a tire replaced and some other services. Got my oil change here. I will be honest that the only reason why I went here was the 50% off coupon I had. Other wise I would have gone somewhere else that was more affordable. It was very fast service and I do appreciate that they had me move my car so they could service someone else that was there first. I am more than happy to do that bc I would want it to happen if i was the other car. You stay in your car for the service and they do all the standard checks with you. I'm a little bothered because I waited for an hour on my lunch break, and the car in front didn't move at all, yet all 3 other rows had all 3 deep cars in their line completely serviced in the entire time I was left waiting. I want to be clear, I understand sometimes things take more time, I am in no way bothered by that! However, if something was going to take an hour, it would have been nice for someone to let the cars behind know what to expect, and maybe even decide to hop into another line. To see 9 cars who came after me, leave before I even go into the service station, without any communication from the tech, is unacceptable. I went to Valvoline for their oil change service with the plan of using a Groupon. I made sure they'd accept the Groupon first before purchasing it, and he was kind enough to confirm but they have coupons online also I believe for like $7 off. They took me right away and the associate walked me through each step. He was very helpful in explaining things and making sure I understood my options. He'd show me my filters, and would ask before checking, which still had plenty of time on them. While he did recommend 3 other services for my car (each for a discount but still expensive) I didn't feel pressured and knew to ask how critical they were & how much more time I had before absolutely necessary for my car which was plenty. Waited in line for maybe 45-50 minutes to be serviced, no big deal. Pull up and ask to get my a/c recharged and all the guys look around and ask if anybody knows how to do it. Turns out nobody knows how to do it, and instead of saying "we don't know how to do the service we DO offer" they just stare around awkwardly and unprofessionally. Customer service was great but my engine light came on the same day of the oil change. I took it back and they tried to tell me it was the gas I put in my car. Never had an engine light on ever. I use mid gas. Wouldn't look under the hood to see the problem. I had to take it to the dealership, was w/o a car for a week trying to fix it. Please ensure they check your fluid levels, tire pressure and reset your oil service light for you. None of these were completed when my oil was changed. I did ask them to check the tire pressure when I overheard the attendant say he did when he hadn't. Had a light on indicating it was low. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!! I arrived at the inspection location at 6:30 PM and found three to four cars in each line, with one in each bay. I immediately called the store and spoke with a representative who informed me that each car takes around 20 minutes to be serviced and that I would be served by 8 PM. However, depending on the number of people in line, I might be serviced after 8 PM. At 7:56 PM, a representative began walking the line and asked whether we were in line for an oil change or an inspection. I explained that I was in line for an inspection, and he told me the machine was down. I was dissatisfied with this information and explained that I had been in line since 6:30 PM and had called ahead of time to be proactive. The representative walked away and said, "I'll get my manager." Eric, the manager, came over but did not apologize, show empathy or sympathy, or even offer a coupon or a discount. He said that the state does not allow inspection after 8 PM and that they are short-staffed, which, to me, was irrelevant. I explained that if they knew how long it takes to service each car, they should be proactive and shut the line off instead of letting people sit and waste their valuable time. I was very vocal because the representatives did not care how they had inconvenienced me and wasted my time, as I could have left and gone to a different location. I called the telephone number and was informed that the telephone number listed is routed to their call center, which is not helpful and provides incorrect information. Eric does not know how to manage, be proactive, and handle escalated situations he and his employees caused. This is not the only complaint about their poor service. I've been to a few others, and I understand oil changes and inspections take time, but I've always had to wait at least 30-45 minutes even with only 1 car in front of me at this Valvoline. Other Valvolines I've been to I've had multiple cars in front to wait 30 minutes. I've given this one a try a few times, thinking maybe it was just the type of service given to the car ahead that coincidentally took a lot of time to get through, but this was maybe my 4th or 5th time and it still took forever. I chose poorly and waited behind a car for 30+ min that must have had more issues than a standard service/inspection while all the other stalls were funneling through quickly.
