BROKE MY CAR. I've only been here ONCE to get my oil change June 20th, 2025 and needed a new one a couple days ago. They said the latch to my hood was broken so they can't change my oil and i need it taken to a dealership so they can remove my front bumper to fix the latch. I drove to another valvoline to get a second opinion before I took it to ford and the guy literally said "yeah, whoever did it last must've broke it". I said "well the valvoline on E Kalamazoo did it last?" and he said I should call and make a damage claim. I now get to pay around $500 dollars to fix THEIR mistake from messing up my hood. I called damage claim and she couldn't find me anywhere in their system (even looking up my VIN number) so I had to go back to get proof they worked on my car. This is a huge expensive mess and I would never recommend going here. read more

Pro tip: Call ahead to ask what discounts they're currently offering. There may be better coupons than what's just available on their website they can only offer by phone! Staff were doing their best to mask up and socially distance while they took care of my car. While talking, my friendly service rep, Alex, asked me to lower my window to eye level as a temporary 'face shield' for further covid protection. He maintained about a 6 feet distance during our conversation. I also rolled up my window when not talking during service. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. They ran out of the oil needed for my car and graciously went next door to the car shop next door to see if they had any extra they could use. Alex was very knowledgeable and explained to me everything they found during the check-up while suggesting services they could help with as well as ongoing discounts. He doesn't always work at this location, but I've had pleasant interactions with other staff when I've come in for an oil change. As always, do your research to see what would more time and cost-effective to do on your own or at a repair shop. This was a year or so ago, so maybe it was a fluke or someone inexperienced who worked on my car, but my one visit to this shop was much different than the rest here on Yelp. I don't normally write reviews but after seeing how highly rated this place was, I needed to chime in. Anyways, everyone there was friendly enough while we were being serviced, we left with a smile. But a few 10 minutes down I-94 from there and I heard something dragging from the bottom of my car. I pulled to the shoulder to find the front, plastic skirt, that covers the oil pan, etc, dangling from my car, already damaged beyond repair. When I called the location to tell them about it, they offered their apologies and said they could order zip ties, that would get there in a few days, to reattach the skirt, because they couldn't find the plastic pins that normally attach the piece. Too late for that, as the contact points were already scraped off. And I can get zip ties at the hardware store, thanks for nothing! Turns out this is piece of plastic and it's accompanying parts to attach it come to about $200 to replace, nice. Perhaps I should have checked things out before I left, but I tend to want to trust a place I pay to perform work. Keep an eye out! read more

I'm a loyal customer of Valvoline... I'm in and out of the shop within 20 minutes, even if it's busy. The staff are friendly and they provide good service. I drive a SUV, so my total bill is around $60. The staff turnover rate is high... it seems they have new staff members every six months... the place is little out of the way, hidden from the rest of the retail outlets around the area. The staff tell you as is, they don't try to push you into buying something you don't need. If you need a an oil change, give Valvoline a try. read more

My experience here was not pleasant at all. I came in for an oil change after reading a fair number of good reviews here on Yelp. I planned on using the Groupon for an $21.50 oil change but they wouldn't accept it since you needed to purchase it at least 24 hours in advance and I needed an oil change that day. But that was my own mistake. Anyways, I went on a Wednesday evening so there was barely anyone there and all 3 bays were open. I got in right away and when the gentleman opened my door to scan the barcode apparently only one type of oil showed up, meaning they only had one type of oil that they could put in my car...oh yeah, and it would be ~$90. Are you kidding me? I have a 2013 Honda Civic that takes synthetic 0W20 oil and I've never had it cost more than about $40 for an oil change. I mentioned this to the gentleman and he rudely shot back explaining that was what it cost and if I didn't like it I could shop around someplace else. Now I begrudgingly accepted the price since I was going on a road trip the next day and no other oil change place was open at the time. The he asked me if I wanted my filter changed. My civic has a cabin filter located behind the glove box. He asked me if it was OK for him to check it, and I politely said that it was fine. He showed me the filter and explained that it should be sparkling white (it was slightly gray but with a new one offered to me at ~$40 a pop I took a pass). "No thank you, that's ok," I said. "We'll, it's not really ok, but...whatever," he replied rudely. That was a little off putting. Then he went and assisted the next car who drove into the bay next to me and another gentleman finished changing my oil, checking my fluid levels, and tire pressure. Nothing to complain about with this guy. He was pretty friendly actually. All in all, this place was fast in changing my oil (only about 20-25 minutes) but the unappreciated attitude and extremely high prices definitely turned me off. I will not be coming back. read more

I ended up here after I tried to redeem a coupon for an oil change next door at Speedy, and I am so happy I did! Apparently you need an appointment at Speedy, and I was in a hurry to get my oil changed, so I went next door to Valvoline where it's first come first serve. The service was exceptional, courteous, educational, and even fun. The manager Tom gave me an education about my engine rather than the hard sell approach I usually get at Uncle Ed's. When I declined the extra services, he respectfully moved on. When he noticed I had my pooch Daisy in the car, he asked if he could give her a dog biscuit. Tom was cracking jokes and making conversation throughout my service, and he seemed to have a good relationship w/ his coworkers. The service took me about 15 minutes. For a convenience oil change, the price was also competitive, and the receipt was broken down into parts, labor, and discounts. When I go to Uncle Ed's, I'm usually greeted w/ a somber face and a monotone voice, so this is my new oil change spot. I highly recommend it. read more

This was a great oil change experience. I know nothing about cars and always feel nervous when I have to take care of anything automotive-related as I've been preyed upon in the past by salespeople trying to take advantage of the fact that I don't know much about cars and trying to sell me every service under the sun. Not so here. I got a great groupon online ($21.50 for an oil change AND 25% off any other services during your visit) and got there at a good time, so there wasn't a wait. I loved that one of the mechanics was a lady (and she also appeared to be in charge -- even better!) and it was so much more comfortable for me to talk to her as opposed to most of the men I come across at auto places, although the men here at Valvoline were very nice too. No one pressured me to buy anything, though they made recommendations. I loved their honesty. One of their recommendations was that I replace my serpentine belt, and I was ready to bite, but then the woman asked me to turn on my car one more time so she could see what was going on and then told me that if she replaced the serpentine belt it would just happen again because of what was causing it. She sacrificed a sale to do what was right for the customer. Now THAT is customer service. It did definitely take longer than the 15 minutes they advertise -- probably closer to 40, but all three of the workers were really hustling so I don't feel that I can really begrudge them that. DON'T COME HERE I have utilized the shop a few times for my car, my wife's car. I also (use to) send the four cars here for my job. While some of the employees are fine. The manager has an attitude problem and was rude and dishonest. My experience was much like others who utilized a coupon. Very negative. Was getting an oil change, the first two employees were nice and courteous. and everything was okay until. 1. The manager saw that I was using a Groupon and wasn't interested in additional service. 2. Some of the things he wanted me to buy/upsell Filters Wipers etc I had in the car as I had purchased them the evening before, He complained LOUDLY to one of the employees about how stupid I was to purchase an air filter from the auto parts store 3. After I refused the litany of services he tried to push on me He became snarky, rude and flat out lied. He said my vehicle could never come back to that location to be serviced with a Groupon. Told me the policy was only one time. Which isn't true it's not listed on Groupon nor is it the policy of Valvoline Corporate. It takes quite a bit to earn 5 stars from me. With that being said, I totally believe my oil change experience last weekend was a 5 star experience. I look for two things when having an oil change, friendliness and competency. Their friendliness and lack of high pressure up selling was definitely a plus in my book. While I'm not an auto mechanic, they were seemingly competent at their job and double checked things often to ensure there were no mistakes made. I got my first oil change here, and it was a great experience! I came in with a Groupon: $21.50 for a conventional oil change. I drove in, chatted with one of the employees for ten minutes, and left with new oil for my car. The staff are all very friendly, and the guy I talked to explained everything to me patiently. He asked me basic questions about my car and did some simple checks while another employee worked on the car. You have the option of getting your receipt emailed to you, and you get a discount on your next service. I also got a little sticker reminder for my next oil change. While I had to wait 15 minutes in line due to the volume on a Sunday afternoon, they graciously accepted my Groupon and started working away at my car. Yes, they asked me what type of oil I had purchased but it turns out the Groupon is just for the conventional oil change. Also there were no issues with when the Groupon was purchased as I had just purchased it an hour earlier. All three employees were extremely friendly and helpful and I was out of there in under 30 minutes total. The only con was that I had to pay 64 cents to cover the sales tax, which was a first for me. They didn't have the oil filter for my car in stock (BMW) so I had to buy one from a auto parts store and bring it to them. The coupon only covered 5 quarts, I needed 8. So...I've been coming to these guys for a long time now but what made this service stop an extrodanary one was because the staff was "very friendly" and allowed me to step out of my car to watch all the services they were performing , which was amazing by the way!! If you ever have feelings/doubts that your being ripped off then go to these guys because they will prove how legit they are!! I had to have multiple services performed which unfortunately cost almost $300 but my service techs were very informative and even gave me a 15% discount (Ahmed,Aziz, and Sir Isaac)!!! Not impressed. Prices have really gone up the last few years. It is now $40+ for an oil change here. Plus, I have to go through the standard litany of turning down all the offers of additional services, all overpriced, most unneeded. They are still stuck on the "change your oil every 3,000 miles" mantra. Even the manufacturers now say it is not necessary all the time and depends upon your usage. A much better option is to go to a LaFontaine dealership and get their $9.95 oil change. Yes, you have to schedule it and times are limited, and yes, it is not "in & out" in 15 minutes, but for a $30 savings, I can make the sacrifice of an additional 15 minutes and plan ahead a little. Valvoline Oil Change is simply not worth it. read more

I would say avoid this place. I had my oil changed and the next day saw oil on the driveway. I went back in and they assured me evertything was done right, what I was seeing was old oil that spilled when they pulled the oil filter. Okaaaaaaay. They cleaned it up and I left. I drove home and intended to put some paper on the ground to make sure it was old, not new oil. What did I find when I got home? The access panel was not secured. However, the paper showed it was old oil. I drove it back for a third time and they wiped it again and secured the access panel. Now, a week and a half later it is still dripping oil. I have had the oil changed over a dozen times on this vehicle and have never encountered this before, nor in several years of oil changes on other vehicles. I have several large oil stains on my white, concrete driveway now.Obviously they don't know what they are doing. read more

I'm updating my review because I probably ly wont be coming here again after my visit on 4/6/19. I've been buying groupons for this location. I've only been here twice and the groupon says it can be used every 180 days. They changed the groupon from full synthetic to synthetic blend so the groupon only saved me $10. Then I was told by the associate I csnt use groupons anymore because corporate will come down on them, that it's really only supposed to be a one time use thing to get people in the door. I told the associate that's not what the groupon says and they need to change the policy on their groupon if they dont want to honor it. He said he's just letting me know. He then told me they cant break a $50 for the extra $22 I had to pay. But the assistant manager told him yes we can. I dont know. The whole experience the guy was just very on the offense and it put me off. I realize that the company isnt responsible for one person, but if the company is going to change their groupon policy that is something they are responsible for. I will probably start going somewhere closer if I cant use a groupon twice a year to help save money. read more
