I went back to make sure it wasn't an actual leak, no leak but no offer of a refund. Just a bogus claim that someone would be out to clean my driveway. Sometimes I understand why some businesses are closed on Sundays. Sometimes you might just be in a crunch and get called in urgently for work and have to travel far. Valvoline is always open on Sundays. I'm so grateful. Their goal is to do 15 minutes a car. Based on my experience I saw some cars less than 15 minutes. And some Cars over 15 minutes. I was less than 15 :) Whether if it's less than 15 or not it doesn't matter to me what matters is they have good customer service and we get to wait in our car while our car is being serviced. I'm back today because I didn't think I need wiper blades. And it's raining like crazy today. Again I'm in my car and they're putting on my new wiper blades. Thanks Valvoline Team!! read more

Do not go here. I bought a car recently annd had the oil changed to top off the fluids and Make sure everything was alright. I have a pre purchase inspection of KC Auto Solutions that shows no issues with my vehicle, as well as the report from Valvoline saying that all of my parts look great and were in new condition. Immediately after going to this location my car began to leak quarts of oil. I had my car taken to Firestone to diagnose these issues. In firestones report they acknowledge damage to my oil filter as well as it being entirely messy and needing to be replaced despite me having an oil change and new oil filter installed by Valvoline the week before. Firestone and the toyota dealership in Merriam came to the conclusion that due to an improperly installed oil filter, my engine blew up due to a lack of oil and metal shavings throughout (which weren't seen or documented by the dealership before purchase, by the independent pre inspection by KC Auto, or by Valvoline themselves. They will not help you, or work with you at all. I requested two meetings with the area manager or the owner and all meetings were denied. They tried to send me $140 on February 19th 2024 to cover the work that Firestone did to try and repair my vehicle, but ultimately I'm being left with an $8000 bill by the dealership because of valvolines mistake and the damages done to my vehicle because of their poor craftsmanship. I Will most likely have to get lawyers involved because the manager Jacob Ferguson has refused to accept my evidence, or the opinions of two AES certified mechanics. Absolutely shameful how valvoline treats their customers. Do not ever step foot in this location if you value your car! read more

The only critique I have is how they take out the air filter without asking for an up-sale. It's business I understand but kind of annoying. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO VALVOLINE!!!! READ THE WHOLE THING PLEASE TO SAVE YOURSELF. First of all, when I finally got into the bay it was the THIRD time I had gone to valvoline because the other two times the wait was OVER an hour. For a company that claims to get you in and out in 15 minutes, that's wild. SECOND AND MOST IMPORTANT I finally got into the bay and they evac'ed my old oil AND GOT THE TUBE STUCK IN MY ENGINE then broke it off trying to get it out. They had to get my car TOWED the next day, which meant I had to leave my car there. The next day, no one contacted me to tell me my car had been towed I had to reach out each time I was trying to find something out. Though a claimed was opened no one from the service team reached out to me, I had to call them around lunch time to figure out more information. I usually go to another valvoline. This visit proved to me that all of them are not created equal. This visit was aggravating and frankly offensive. Let's start with the fact that out of 7 employees working in the bay not a single one could figure out how to reset my "oil light" (despite me telling them repeatedly there is no oil light. it's just a check engine light when my oil is due. And that was not on so there's nothing to reset. Repeatedly). Then they didn't know what services they could or could not perform on my car "because it was a Prius". They kept on trying to turn off a light that wasn't on though for about 10 minutes. Finally they start the oil change. The guy helping me noticed I had a cat related bumper sticker. He says "so I guess you're a cat person. I HATE them. They suck. The only place they belong is in fried rice." I was just like yeah we're done with the chit chat here. He made me feel like the things I knew about my car were wrong. Like when I told him I just changed my own air filters he still got it out of the car to show it to me. He says it looks pretty clean but do you want us to change it? Then he just walked away and continued to talk loudly and unprofessionally to every other guy working in that shop. Someone else picked up taking care of me. They deserve that single star cause they did after all get my oil done and my tires filled up as far as I know which are the 2 things I asked for. read more

Valvoline on 291 hwy in Lee's Summit. Tried to come a few weeks ago during store hours, all garage doors were shut and lights were off. There were 5 employees sitting in their cars not doing anything. Not sure what that was all about. Fast forward to today. If there was a 0 star option, I would leave it. Midday on a Thursday, there is 1 lane open and 5 cars in line. It looks as though there is only 2 people working. Slower than Christmas, no sense of urgency, complete disregard for those waiting in line. "Instant service" is false advertisement. Absolutely ridiculous. Late getting back to work, boxed in due to the single lane being open so I couldn't leave to go to a different Valvoline where there are competent employees that actually have an idea of what they are doing. If I could give a zero, I would. They aired up my tire, but the failed to reattach the skid plate back on properly. The skid plate detached while driving home with groceries the same day. My husband had to go back and wait in line with a bent skid plate that needed to be replaced. He is still waiting for over two hours now, and they said he would have to wait until he made it to the front of the line. An oil change should an hour or less time out of your day. When I got home I decided to check my oil and it was way over the fill mark. I took my vehicle to a different Valvoline to have it checked and it had been filled 2.25 quarts over the full mark! If I would have not checked this according to everything I found online this would have damaged my motor. NEVER going back. I got an oil change for my car awhile ago. I asked the mechanic does my car take conventional or synthetic oil, and, since he had the same exact car as mine, he mentioned that conventional was ok. Right after I pulled my car into the shop, he said "Sorry, our computer says it only takes synthetic", which is $20-$30 more. What? Now, I should of left right then and there. I'm a salesman myself, so I know the game, and EVERYBODY knows the game with mechanics, ie they are not trustworthy. But I went along with it because I just wanted to get it done and over with, plus I had a coupon. Dumb decision on my part. At the end of the oil change, the mechanic mentioned that one of my headlights was out. Huh? I didn't recall it being out, but honestly, I wasn't 100% sure. Even still, my guess is that it wasn't out before I pulled in, and I remember it wasn't out the night before. So he tried to upsell replacing the headlight for an extra $18. Again, I'm a salesman. It's all about the upsell and I know salesman that have fooled customers into paying more money, which I felt was exactly happening. This was the auto shop after all. I said no to that. And once I said no, out the corner of my eye, I saw the mechanic look at the other mechanics in a sense of "Damn, I didn't get it." Very suspect. Later in the day, I thought of something. I went back and asked the mechanic to see the security video of my car pulling into the shop so I could see if the headlight was out before then. He said that only the manager could do that and he wasn't around. Yeah right. He called the manager in front of me--supposedly--and he said he wasn't available until later in the week. Yeah right. Another salesman tactic. I didn't return back, but I did call back, of which I was told the manager wasn't there and they'd take my number and they'd call me back. I never got the call back. I've never been at an oil change place where the workers genuinely enjoy their work and each other; it's pretty hard not to come out of here smiling and satisfied with your service because of it. I consider it a bonus you can sit in your car while they give you an oil change, and they'll often engage in conversation with you if you want to. I tend to wait to visit until I receive an email for a $20 oil change, as they can run a bit pricey otherwise. They tend to be pretty lax and honest when they try to upsell you, i.e. whether or not you need something or you can wait awhile to purchase it. I'd definitely recommend over others just due to the environment alone. read more

Valvoline in Lee's Summit left the o-ring off on the filter housing cap. After paying $120, no refund or reimbursement and then had to take my car to another mechanic for engine problems. Called corporate and filed a claim and was told management would call me back. I have yet to hear from anyone!!! Poor service and customer service. I recently visited this location, and they charged $90 for an oil change, drained the oil, and never refilled the oil. Then they lied about my car battery being bad, and replaced it without my consent. I later took my old battery, which is still under warranty, back to autozone to test it, and it was perfectly fine. Then i called customer care, told them about the situation, and they said they would call me the same day, and its been a few days now. Stay away from this place. UPDATE: After complaining about this incident, the manager called me and falsely claimed to have watched the video, claiming that my old battery wasn't returned because "it's against company policy. " I then contacted a friend that works at a separate location, and said he knows how shady that manager is, continually ripping people off. read more

The car in the bay was my sister, she said it was a simple oil change took 45 minutes with 1 employee on his phone and doing nothing and the others seemed to be moving purposefully slow. I go to valvoline for ever oil change but I will never use this location ever again. I had to wait in line for 2 1/2 hours to get an oil change with only 2 people in front of me. People were getting out of their cars asking what was going on. Not to mention it took me almost an hour to get my cars oil changed once I got in. To top it all off they broke my glove box and I had to go back again and wait in line for a grand total of over 3 hours spent at this location. Staff was helpful but only when people started to get upset. I trust valvoline as a company but I have no idea what is going on at this location. My vehicle is 2 yrs old and has been serviced regularly with the Jeep dealer in OP. I was in a hurry for long weekend and Walmart on 75th was a joke of a wait so I drove in during lunch. They tried to sell me a Ac service for $149 and said my battery life was almost in the red by showing you gauges that are most certainly stuck in the same position. I saw a few earlier ratings which gave this location a lower rating but the one that struck me was the one from 10 days ago. I just thought "well that was nice of her (Amber B.) to write that." Well, I had just enough time during my lunch break so I swung by for service. After my experience today, I too felt compelled to write this review. I've never seen so many smiles at an oil change place. On top of the courteous service, these folks were QUICK! I was in and out in less than 15 minutes from start to finish. Zero pressure here. Stopped by earlier to get an oil change and, to my surprise, the manager and a customer were having a shouting match. The customer was disrespectful and demeaning but that didn't warrant the manager proceeding to yell and reciprocate insult for insult. The current manager has some serious anger issues considering the argument could've easily been abated. The oil techs on the floor apologized profusely and continued to do their jobs. But the manager didn't apologize nor attend to the other customers awkwardly listening. I like Valvoline and will continue to use them but maybe I'll go to a different location next time. read more

Originally went to Jiffy Lube today, but they turned me away, having shut down their equipment at 4:30, despite closing at 5:00. So I drove quickly down the road to Valvoline, where despite having the same closing time, they waved me right into a bay. They got to work quickly, with friendly smiles and a cheerful attitude. Darren got everything entered into the computer while Aja and Samuel worked my car over from the top and Charles took good care of her from down below. They never made me feel like an imposition. Samuel and I shared some insight on customer service (I also work in a customer facing job) and they got me on the road quickly. These four fine folk turned my day from sad to happy just by being them and doing their job, which is why I wanted to make sure each one of them got credit for their part. They up-sold me on some windshield wipers, but failed to mention that they were only going to replace one. It happened to be raining the same day I got them, so I immediately noticed one of the 2 wipers wasn't working as well as a new wiper should. When I went back and asked if they could replace it, they said they only replaced one. WTF?!? I definitely saw them messing with both of my wipers. Didn't pay enough attention to see they only installed one. Feel like I was scammed since they definitely asked "would you like to replace your wipers (plural) today?" Technician lied to my wife and told her that our 2004 Toyota Avalon requires synthetic blend oil. Tried to use scary words like "We will not be responsible for damage caused by using conventional" When I asked if the cars oil cap, owners manual or any spec said synthetic blend he doubled down on his lie and said Toyota had issued a Technical Service Bulletin. No such TSB exists. I imagine the boss pressured his guys to upsell synthetic since it was purchased through a Groupon offer. read more

Fast service. Although, I went in expecting a conventional oil change, to spend around $30. But they refused to use anything but synthetic oil because "that's what the manufacturer of your car recommends". I don't care what the manufacturer recommends. I have always received conventional oil changes, never having to pay more the $30, even at Kia dealership. I appreciate your concern for my vehicle and the fact that I will be able to drive more miles with my fancy synthetic oil, but not everyone can afford $60 oil changes. Until I agreed to paying the $60 amount, they acted as if I would have to go somewhere else. If you don't offer conventional oil changes to everyone, then your company's "19.99 standard oil change" coupon needs to have it listed in the restrictions. Oh, and the sticker they put in your windshield to remind you of your next oil change should have the synthetic mileage of 5,000, not the conventional 3,000 miles. I've been to this 87th St Valvoline location many times over several years. At least a dozen or more. The past couple of times there has been an employee who is rude an arrogant. He says he is the Asst. Mgr but his customer service skills are horrible. I went there this morning and spent $125 on an oil change and tire rotation. I used a $10 coupon. When I was leaving I told him I was bringing another vehicle in and could I use the coupon and he said NO! I'd had enough of this guy but decided I needed to take my 2nd car in anyway because of time, but when I returned this same young man the Asst. Mgr refused to rotate my tires citing some issue that occurred in the 15 minutes it took me to go home and bring the other car back in. Again he was very rude and I could tell he was just putting me off. Turns out he didn't like the way I addressed him when I brought the first car in and after exchanging words he kicked me off the lot! After spending $125 on my first car! Now I'm at 110th and Quivira shop and they couldn't be nicer and accommodating. I don't know what this other kid's problem is at the 87th street location but he told me his boss was William Snow. Mr. Snow I'd have a serious talk with your Asst. Mgr.
