It is a trap, in Maple Grove MN their drivway to the garage door is one way with no way out other than through the change bays. I waited in line for 50 minutes, then when I got in the bay the attendent went on a 30 minute luch break leaving me sitting in the bay with the garage door closed so I couldn't leave, I told the attendant in the bay next to me to open the door, I got out and told the attendant to open the door, he just look at me so I openned it myself and he told me I can't do that, the manager came over and told me he would change my oil, he did, took him 20 minutes with the help of the attendaent that returned from lunch. Too long of wait, techs work at a leisurely place and the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. There is no clear direction either as to where you wait, with cars sitting in many obscure spots in the back of the lot and techs having to redirect traffic. read more

Do not go to this location!! I've been to Valvoline many times. I was informed there would be a wait, which I was okay with. Then I was directed into a stall, to watch two cars that arrived 15 minutes after me be serviced ahead of me. The worst part was that they didn't check in with me, so I waited nearly an hour in my stall, watching, to be told they couldn't service my car because it was too new. I appreciated the advice to go to my dealer, but not the unorganized way they managed their clients. Also, the crew was goofing off. Even more annoying when you wait. One guy, told the lady in the car that was trying to pay, to hold on one sec - and he ran out to a friend who drove by to say hi. If I owned this franchise, I'd want to know. read more

Came to this location because a different valvoline made a mistake and shredded the gasket when they installed the filter. The staff was excellent and took care of the problem and redid the oil change. They were very apologetic even though the mistake wasn't theirs. Will go out of our way to go back. read more

Both my car and my mom's car have had mechanical issues after coming to this valvoline. They check off the list of everything on the computer but don't actually check anything. Check the oil level and the rest of your fluid reservoirs because they don't top off anything like they're supposed to, and your oil may run out before you're due for your next change. My mom's car is immobilized after they checked off all systems being intact and well. There's proof on the invoice. There's a bunch of kids working here and who knows if they know what they're doing. Please take your car somewhere else if you want it to run. I wrote this review while stalled on a busy road during rush hour cause my car had no oil in the tank. I originally posted to the wrong location, this is the Valvoline I've relied on for the last few oil changes. I likely won't be returning. read more

I frequently go to Valvolines in MN, WI, TN and unfortunately this location was not up to par as the other locations. She marked that she aired my tires - but didn't check them. Marked that she topped off fluids but didn't do window cleaner. Nor did she reset my car computer for oil life nor checked my filter (s). Next day was very cold and I returned to have air in my tires fixed. Per the receipt, tires read 32 PSI but they were at 25 psi which almost caused a huge accident that morning, because brakes didn't work. They filled them & cleared my oil light when I returned the next day. Still don't know why filters weren't checked. Not truly satisfied and prob check another location. read more

If your looking for a quality auto service company you can trust, I would suggest staying away from this location. My wife and I have been customers of this Valvoline for the past 5 years and over the course of this last month, the managment at this location (Riley & Trention) have made if abundantly clear to us that they do not care about their customers and certainly don't stand behind the services they offer here. Our Situation: My wife's 2017 Nissan Rouge broke down while she was travelling with our 9 month old son. She was left stranded on the side of a road for two hours waiting for a tow and a friend to pick them both up. The car was towed to our local auto shop and after about a 5 minutes of investigaion, they found a sensor that had been clogged as a result of the AIR FILTER WAS INSTALLED BACKWARDS. The sensor and filter were replaced and we recieved the bill outlining this situation in specific detail. Valvoline Response: Valvoline managment ran a Carfax report on our vehicle, after I had initiated a reimbursement claim, and confirmed that the Maple Grove - Valvoline was the most recent oil change that had been performed (including their usual air filter checks), but according to their policy, if you don't call them immediately after discovering their mistake, they wipe their hands of any and all responsibility... Pretty convinent policy to cover yourself from almost everything when most people just tell their auto shop to fix their car and get them back on the road as soon as possible... I understand that mistakes like these may happen from time to time, but to sit back and tell me that there is no way to difinitively determine who is responsible for this is a flat out lie. I know it, the entire Valvoline team knows it, and now everyone reading this knows it as well. read more

Went in for a quick oil change yesterday. Usually I go to a trusted shop for years but I couldn't get in this week and I was in dire need. Wasn't expecting much. Had the best service and best customer experience I've had in months. Vince was my technician and he explained everything so well and didn't over charge me at all. My air filter was spotless and I was expecting them to replace it. He said don't worry about it today. Very trustworthy. I'll be going back just because of how great Vince was. read more

Put in a claim ticket for both my daughter and I's vehicles we strongly believe were damaged due to this locations careless nature. I had a difficult time trying to get ahold of the store manager (Josh) at this location. When I called the 800 number on Friday I was told he never tried reaching back out to me and to instead try calling back today. When I spoke to Josh today he said he'd been trying to get ahold of me unsuccessfully all week last week. Which is a lie. They also denied both claims I have out on our vehicles, yet never even looked at our physical vehicles. They are basing their findings off what the employees marked off on their computer... which is everything they did not do. As an offer of remorse they offered us a free oil change. We will no longer be using Valvoline as our oil servicer. This place is laughable at best. Do yourself a favor and go to a different company for your oil change. read more

After I pulled behind another car waiting for an oil change, an attendant came and told me to back up because they might need to be moving the people around for proper turns. I told her they should have a sign telling customers the protocol. I backed up, got out of my car and went to the guy behind me and apologized, I wasn't trying to budge. He was totally understanding and we were having a nice conversation. Next thing I have a male attendant asking me if he could be of help. On Jan 21, 2022 while driving my Jeep starting making a consistent knocking noise and the engine, traction control, oil, and tire pressure lights came on.  I immediately went to the Valvoline on Coon Rapids Blvd.  They stated I needed an oil change.  They started the oil change and then said my oil life was good and I did not need an oil change. I had the Jeep towed to Walser in Hopkins.  My Jeep was still under warranty.  Walser said that the oil filter had failed causing engine failure. I called Progressive and Valvoline to start a claim.   On Jan 31, reps from Walser, Progressive, and Valvoline inspected my car and took pictures of the defective oil filter and pictures of the un damaged housing unit. Valvoline called Feb 4 stating the fault was with Walser and Walser would need to repair my car.  I stated that the issue was the filter, not the housing unit. On Feb 10, Progressive notified me they would be closing their claim since the fault was with Valvoline.  My warranty with Walser does not cover defective oil filters. On Feb 11, I contacted Valvoline and they stated the claim with them had been closed Feb 4.  They resopened the claim and said a manger would be contacting me on Feb 14.  I sent them the pictures of the housing unit.  I let them know I would be filing claims with the BBB and the attorney general's office. I have spoken with service advisors from Barnett in White Bear Lake and Walser in Hopkins.  They both have Jeeps in for service with the same issue.  Defective oil filter causing engine failure. read more

Knowledgeable and friendly guys running what appears to be a quick and efficient operation. They offer the usual recommended fixes based on condition (wipers, lights, air filter, etc.), but don't give you the hard sell, which I prefer. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. I have been going to this Valvoline for a few years now and have always had successful oil changes. However, I recently was offered the recommended 60,000 mile transmission flush, which did not go well at all. When I left the garage, the car did not accelerate/ shift properly, so I returned to the garage and the guys had to push my small SUV into the bay. Immediately, they questioned if fluid was put in and how much. I was told by two technicians that they weren't sure how to perform the service and that they thought they knew what they were doing. The assistant manager first said they had overfilled the fluid and three hours later said the issue had been caused by not enough fluid. When questioned multiple times why they didn't know how much fluid to put in, the answers were clear that a service was offered that they did not know how to perform. I left the garage without being reimbursed and made a complaint to the customer service line, which was 'escalated,' yet not followed up on. Because my car was not driving properly, I brought it to the dealer to get it diagnosed, which they informed me that the fluid was very much overfilled and was full of metal shavings. I had to pay for yet another transmission flush. I am being reimbursed for the charges from Valvoline's customer service; however, I would not return to a Valvoline anytime soon. While I have received my money back, there is potential damage to the transmission and they will only cover it for the next 30 days if anything goes wrong. Bottom line - don't offer a service you don't know how to perform. read more

Don't come here for anything besides a basic oil change. These people don't know much beyond the bare basics of cars and it shows. Made the mistake of letting them change my air filter and rotate my tires. As I am sitting in my car I witness the kid changing my air filter miss a screw with his drill (pure carelessness)and put a big ugly hole in my plastic engine cover. It's under the hood anyway so I let it go. Tire rotation went "smoothly" until about 3 weeks and 250 miles later when I noticed a grinding sound in my front left wheel well. Took it to my usual garage and they tell me that I needed a new wheel bearing ($250) and if I would have waited much longer probably a new front axle too ($$$). Tech at my garage said the most likely cause of this was that the lug nuts were not tightened properly. Unbelievable. I should not have to do my own inspection after I get my car serviced. Never coming back here for anything besides a cheap oil change and even then I am reluctant to give them my money. Only reason for the two star rating is that the tech that actually talked with me was nice and not pushy/dickish which is usually the case with mechanics. Buyer beware, this is a budget shop where you take budget cars for budget work. That's it. read more
