Valvoline in Seekonk, MA liars, can't change an oil filter and wouldn't pay for repair. I took my car in for an oil change... a few weeks later I still smelt oil burning so I took my car into the dealer and $180 later, they told me the oil filter was not installed correctly. I asked the Mngr (Moses) to pay for the $180 for the correction, showed them the dealer invoice and had the dealership send him an email with details. They declined to pay. Besides just being horrible at oil changes, they also lied and pointed to a little rust on my radiator saying that was a sign that I needed to have my radiator flushed (total BS). Here's an update to the glowing review I provided a few years ago for this location. While I have visited this location numerous times over the years without any issues, something happened today while I was there that was the direct cause of 5 quarts of synthetic oil leaking out of my car in the span of about 2 hours. I stopped by for a quick drive through experience on 7/3/2021 and was helped by some really nice people. To be clear, the staff members I spoke with on my visit were pleasant and friendly, as always. I was in and out in just over an hour even though they were busy (I was one of 6 cars waiting outside and all three bays were in use) but it was a holiday weekend and I was expecting that. As you can tell from reading my other reviews, I'm quick to share positive feedback and experiences - out of the 200 plus reviews I've written, this is my first 1 star review. Hey, I totally understand that mistakes happen and I'm not an unreasonable person. I'm disappointed by the lack of response from this company and how my life has been significantly inconvenienced because of their negligence. I will update again when (and if) a representative reaches out to take responsibility for their mistakes and resolves the concern to a satisfactory level. I was recently was beyond my miles for my oil change and went to a service station that does my auto repairs. Prior to this I went to this location for the previous oil change. I discovered the oil filter on my vehicle was from two prior oil changes. Valvoline never changed the oil filter .I used to get great service and there are a couple of good technicians but I had several problem in the last year. read more

Stopped by for Synthetic oil change today, over $90 after coupon redeemed. Rude Technician yelling: "Let's go!" No please or thank you when pulling into service bay! Unprofessional and remains below expectations! Technician unable to find my cabin air filter so could not check it! Value and quality below normal standards. Now they extract your car's oil through a tube and do not inspect the undercarriage of the car at all! Extraction using the Venturi Effect leaves about a 1/2 cup of oil in the oil pan! For over $90 I'll go to my mechanic next time. How about some respect for the Customer here!? They no longer print your invoices for you either, you have to do it yourself. As I pull in to get my oil change, they test my battery which the results come back good the associate told me the battery would be good for at least another year. After that they performed the oil change when I tried to start my vehicle the battery is completely dead. No lights nothing, they question me for having lights on or the key on while they were performing the oil change which I didn't. Then they test the battery again and it is completely dead 0% cranking amps. How can a battery be good and then completely dead 45 minutes later? Obviously something must've happened and they shot circuited the battery after arguing back-and-forth my only option was to purchase a battery for $276, who is to say they do not do this on the regular to boost their sales. I filed a complaint and the area manager declined my claim. Of course he did. He does not want to lose a sale. I recommend for everyone to never go to the Seekonk Valvoline ever they are crooks will lie to you to your face to make a sale. Got an oil change first thing morning and I was in and out within 30 mins. I went in for an oil change they let me know my break light was out and checked my cabin filter. The crew that worked on my car had the best attitude for 8AM in the morning. They worked on my vehicle and got me on my way to work quickly. Do you ever feel bad for people that are really stupid? I mean like ~~really~~ inept. I feel so bad for Ruben because he is arguably one of the worst technicians I've ever interacted with.. and if for some reason you end up at this location, I would specially ask for others or kindly reject your vehicle to be serviced. Not only does he not know what he's doing; but he will try and scam you and mess with your engine. Firstly, I think it's noteworthy to point out that Ruben might be the only millennial to not know how to use a computer. I went there with one coupon for $5 off my oil change and then I found a different coupon for 25% off, but he already scanned the $5 one first. So I asked if he could void that discount and apply the 25% off and he said he couldn't. I asked to speak to him manager and he then tried to say I was trying to use two coupons! Liar! I told the very kind and profession lady that I wanted to 25% off and not the $5 she was able to do it very quickly. Poor Ruben, I hope his technical skills on the computer improve. Ok and now the really messed up part and why I'm writing this. The next day I was driving and noticed there was something on my window and I tried to use my window fluid. COMPLETELY OUT of fluid and then then light came on for the fluid as well. I went back after only driving like 40 miles and the new guy said it was never refilled!!! He cut corners with my service because he seemed like a very lazy technician. Now fast forward to today, and the freaking check oil light came on! Not only did he forget to fill my windshield fluid, but he forgot to change to oil entirely! I honestly am amazed that he is still an employee at this location and I don't suspect he'll last long. Seriously avoid this location. Request Allison or someone else to do your service but not the lazy, tech inept, scammer, Ruben. Get ready for a better business bureau complaint and investigation. The pros to the place is the manager seems to know what she's doing and acted so cool. I feel bad that she had to put up with such incompetence. Service and speed are 5 stars. I love that you don't need an appointment. I'd give them (the whole chain) 3 stars for being over-priced, but you're paying for convenience. I like that they keep track of everything in the computer for you. Definitely take time to research if/what you should have things replaced, because if you do everything they say, you'll drive off having spent hundreds of dollars. However, if you're like me and don't want to put much time into necessary car maintenance, then I say go for it. Also, I was pretty frustrated by my experience tryin to call them. I have been to other Valvoline establishments before and have always been happy. I really needed an oil change yesterday and found this Valvoline was near my current location. This may be my favorite location now. Luckily I got in right away. The staff here was extremely quick and efficient. The guy who worked with me was very nice. They got the oil change done very quickly, topped off my wiper fluid, checked my oil filter and did not say I needed a new one, and checked/filled the air in my tires. Today I had an experience that will change my 8 or so years of loyalty to this location. When I pulled up, all three bays were full, and there was one car waiting next for bay 1. I pulled up next to them at bay 2. After 5 or so minutes I was instructed that they wanted me to go to bay 3, who knows why. I move to the bay 3 waiting spot. Then three more cars pull up, one for bay 1 and two for bay 2. Then bay 2 opens up and someone (who pulled in two cars after I did) goes in. I ask them what is up - as I'm explaining my concerns, bay 1 opens up and they tell me that I can go into bay 1. However, the car waiting (again waiting less than I) pulls in and the crew shrugs and starts to work on the second car that has pulled in after me. I have been bringing my cars here for service for a very long time... but I never will again. If your time or being treated fairly is important to you, I wholeheartedly recommend someplace else. read more

Homegirl needed an oil change. She was delaying the process and was unable to go to her regular provider. Homegirl, being the fine and versed woman that she is, decided to go to Valvoline and just get it done on the run. The signage made it easy to follow, and hey-$35 advert sounds decent. Now Homegirl did not have to wait long, hence the 2 Stars. However Homegirl was not asked any questions, she was seemingly rushed along, and at the end of it all, a bill spanked Homegirls hinny with a whopping $75+. Homegirl could have purchased an Italian vineyard, produced the finest Homegirl Wines for a number of years, and when she had enough wine to supply herself for the rest of her years, she could have destroyed that very same vineyard, then plant and cultivate some Homey Olives. She would then extract the very best Extra Homegirl Virgin Olive Oils you've ever seen. She probably would have become exclusive. You know, like how champagne and mozzarella can only officially be produced in certain areas? Homegirls Extra Virgin would have been on that level. She would have had that olive oil glow and wine breath. But nah an oil change for 75 smackers seems fair. Homegirl truly had an out of body experience when they pried that Visa our of her claws. She questioned the bill, of course, but was told that's what it costs, and the $35 was simply the starting price. Homegirl wanted them to stick that bill up those nose with a rubber hose. Yet she paid and left. Never again will Valvoline experience the Homegirl Glow that attracts the masses. The light floral coconut aroma of Homegirl will never filter that greased up garage ever again. The sun will rise and the sun will fall, but neither sun nor moon, will glisten upon homegirls silky smooth tresses for the auto shop to see. I use Valvoline a lot when it comes time to get my oil changed, but there are some locations that I definitely avoid to avoid being shamed into things my car needs... and yes. I know my car needs some love... but when I'm barely making it for my oil change and I'm asking for the conventional, I appreciate not being hounded or feel bad declining additional services. I have been to this Valvoline a few times and I must say they are very professional and perform very through work. Best thing of all: no appointments! A neat little thing is that they do everything while you are in the car. I have had my oil changed, transmission fluid flushed and even a light fixed here. They are always eager to let you know about any coupons too regarding services. A few words to the wise though: weekends tend to be quite busy in the afternoons, so expect a small wait. Not too long though. Also, unlike most mechanics/auto service places, they don't perform unecessary work so if you want something checked out, let them know since they are in the business of servicing you quickly. This place will ruin your car. The staff lie about the type of oil you need. They push high priced filters. The "technician" pulled off my engine cover needlessly, then pounded it with his fists to get it back on. The next day, the clips are all broken and the cover won't snap back in place. They left oil dripping all down my suspension which now leaks on my driveway. They pretended to wipe off the hood when they finished, but just smeared a mess all over it. Usually this place gets solid five stars. Speedy and quick. For some reason today they were significantly slower and I have somewhere to be. I asked to cash out while they were working and the woman working there just curtly said no - gave me no reason just "no"and Walked off. 10 min later I asked what is going on. They couldn't get the cap off and did not communicate that to me for 20 min until I asked. Brought my car in last week for what I thought would be a quick oil change. Well, after waiting behind bay door 1 for ten minutes they moved me to bay door 3 to wait another 10 minutes, meanwhile a car that came after me got right in through bay door 2. Ok fine. Asked for a synthetic oil change, they pop the hood and suddenly there is commotion at the front of my car. According to one of the technicians I had a "substantial oil leak!" and didn't think they'd be able to do the oil change. A woman came up from the pit and proudly announced that she refused to do my oil change due to the leak and that she was going on break. End of story. The two technicians stood at the hood of my car like two deer in headlights. I was informed that I would need to get my car into a mechanic immediately as it was not safe to drive however they could try to top it off with a qt. of oil and see how the levels are after that. Low and behold ONE QUART of oil brought me back to a normal operating level of oil. If there was a "substantial leak" would one quart really do the trick?!?! I think not!! So during this I look at the computer screen next to my car and see a breakdown of costs that they had quoted for my oil change at the tune of $120!! WHAT?!?! Any time I've brought my car to Jiffy Lube or my own mechanic it's been $65-80 for the oil change. I asked why it was that high and I got some bullshit story that VW can only have this one specific oil that is imported from Europe and that no other oil will do. So thankfully they weren't able to do the oil change because I would have had a conniption fit if I was charged $120! Fast forward a couple days, my mechanic changed my oil for $65 and there was NO LEAK to be found!! Bottom line the wonderful folks at Valvoline just didn't want to work on my car. Will never again attempt to visit this location, worst experience ever. They ought to be ashamed!! read more

Had a poor experience here. They tried HARD to up-sell me on everything. Tried to get me to pay for almost everything in the store besides the oil change I went there for. The guy was friendly enough until I pushed back on them and said that I just wanted the oil change. They were trying to charge me $400 for an oil change and a new battery. No thank you! The oil change ALONE was $120. I normally pay $70-$90 max on an oil change for full synthetic.
