Update- New review is 1 star bc they wanted over $40 to bead and balance an old spare tire onto an already detached rim I had from home!...I was thinking more like $10-15!...at that price, I chose to finally pick up a tire changer with duck head and bead breaker, and a bead blaster from harbor freight...they worked GREAT! I also had a bubble balancer hanging around. I will never be back to this shop, let alone paying $40+, to not even turn a single lug nut, for a loose tire and loose rim! Old review(now ruined) was 5 stars- Properly replaced and balanced four new tires...I think that's actually quite rare at other shops these days...who wants shaking tires when they're new?...it's hard to find a good shop these days but this one did a good job for me read more

The previous day, I was speaking with Mavis customer service, and everything went smoothly. They told me the tire would arrive the next day, and I paid my $25 deposit. However, when I called the following day, they suddenly said my car wasn't there. Thank God I have a Tesla and was able to locate my car through the app. It showed the location as 1500 Johnston Ave, the Mavis Tire & Brakes location. To prove my car was there, I used the app to beep the car, and I could hear the beep in the background. Once that was figured out, another issue arose I had paid for a tire that wasn't even fixed. I complained, and to their credit, they did get to work on it. However, they then said it wouldn't take longer than half an hour. I timed them, and guess what it took longer than that. I don't recommend them to the Tesla community. read more

Scammers The woman on the phone who answered when I called Nicole from Johnston Mavis gave me one price for two tires installed the over the phone, When I got there the attendant at the register, Peter gave me a different price. He told me that he couldn't change the price because I've already reserved online. Then, I asked him if I cancel my online order and order. How much would it be? I was then told it's the same price and his district manager would scream at him if he changed the price because he watches the computer system remotely.. I left without purchasing tires. I was so happy to call and get a same day appointment for my alignment. I was greeted when I arrived and they took my car in, shortly after my appointment. They said it would take about an hour. It took a while longer but fine. Everything was ok, except no one came to the waiting area to let me know my car was ready. I expected it bc it's the norm. And the lady next to me received like 3 updates while they worked on her car. So my rating reflects that. Nobody wants to sit around at the shop longer than they need to. I recommend they communicate with ALL customers, not just picking and choosing. read more

I've been here a few times, sometimes it seems like a very long wait for an oil change, but besides that they've always been honest. I just had my brake fluid changed, and 5k miles later when I had my oil change at Firestone, they tried to upsell me on a brake fluid change and coolant. My roommate tested the fluid w a test trip, and Mavis did change my fluid, still at the bottom read (clean). Firestone is upselling BS. I found Mavis from buying tires on Amazon and having the tires shipped to this shop. Which was a great price! By partnering w Amazon, they just got a new client! First and foremost I took my car to Melvin tires owned by Mavis and they messed things up on my receipt plus my car wasn't aligned properly and the woman that was at the desk was extremely rude and dismissive to me so I called this Mavis and talked to someone who had me come in on the next day where I was greeted by a young man named Gregory who was super nice and did everything to rectify the issue and had my tires properly aligned. I would go here again because they serviced my car quickly and efficiently and helped me when the other place refused to. read more

I have to say the guys here have been very good to me. I came in to have four tires replaced. When I went in some thing was hanging on the bottom of my undercarriage, when I picked up my vehicle they had pinned it back up for me with no extra charge. I also warrantied all four of my tires which is a good thing. Literally two days later I've got a screw in my tire and I got my tire replaced for free, I just had to pay to put a new warranty on it. The only complaint I have is when I was quoted my four new tires there was an additional charge added in. But that was not at fault of the franchise, I guess the main headquarters adds some fee in which they just don't tell any of the customers. read more

Absolutely horrendous service. I waited for 2.5 hours for my car to get AN ALIGNMENT. That was all that I came for. By the time I got my car back, THE WHEEL WAS STILL CROOKED!!!! They didn't even align it the right way. When taken for a test drive my traction light came on and did not shut off. Prior to this, my car was in mint condition. It is now throwing a "check engine" light and they are denying that it happened because of them. They have redone the alignment 3 times and still can't get it right, and now I have to figure out why my CEL is on along with the reduction in traction. read more

The first problem was the fact that no one was wearing a mask, customers in the waiting room nor employees... and no, they did not check vaccine cards or even have any signs about masking or vaccination. Not good - it's required right now. The major theme was "you can wait". To check in for our appointment and to pay and leave, we stood at the desk about 15 minutes for staff to take care of other things (paperwork, personal stuff, training) or tasks for customers who were -not- standing there waiting. It took quite a bit longer than expected, mostly because of this. We definitely didn't feel that our time was valuable. The lack of compliance with the mask order and consideration for everyone's safety made this a trip we regretted and we won't pay them a second visit. read more

Why offer a warranty if you don't intend to honor it? Shocks lasted 3 months, defective parts are on video. I was invited in, so "we can show you everything is fine " They revealed that they did not intend to do the work that was needed, but I was expected to waste my time with this process. Regional manager agreed to reimburse me, but home office reneged. I am out $530, because I had work done correctly, elsewhere. Gino and the home office wasted a lot of my time with pictures, calls, emails, and explanations. First complaint was July 26, refusal came Sept 9, a day after they agreed to pay. Defective shocks are now in my trunk. Where do you want them, Mavis? Gino? Welcome to RI, Gino. As I said on the phone, I don't know how these people sleep at night Seriously, what was my ulterior motive? I paid for shocks, expected reasonable lifrtime. No partial credit, no store credit, not even a coupon was offered. Basically, they implied I should go away. That is much worse than the money I am out. Went there for a new tire got the new tire drove at 60 and it wasn't balanced right. When there the next day wait for 2 hour , I noticed they took my car in and my hood was open . Very strange practice why a hood had to be open when your doing a tire rebalance. They told me my car was all set . Took for a drive not a test drive yet about a block down the road head a loud banging noise as if my axle broke off . I pull over I noticed there was a missing lug nut and center cap miss and the wheel was tighten down properly and I had 13 weight on one wheel and 11 on the other . At this point I was drove my car very slowly till I got home about 15 minute drive and torque my wheel back on and replace the missing one. Drove all the way back to the place told them my center cap is missing they apologize and gave my center cap took it for a test and at 50 mph the car had shaking worst then be for ,at this point I took it a different tire shop and had them rebalance my tire and they told me they can only do 1 tire because there was something rattling on the other one and come to find out it was my tmp had broken inside the wheel . The other shop fix it and it cost me and extra 130 and they rebalance my tire and with only 3 weight on each tire . If you value your car do not go there . read more

They took my vehicle in right away and called me later that day to let me know what issues I had with my van. The service supervisor Jackson called me and gave me a breakdown and a price. We agreed to the work and the van was literally ready to go a day later. I was attending a football clinic with my kids and he told me there was no rush. Unfortunately I lost my mother the next day and Jackson and the whole staff went above and beyond to help me out. I was able to pick my van up a few days later with no pressure from anyone. Selected this shop when buying tires from Amazon. Soon I got there for my appointment at 0900 I was asked are you sure you want those chunky tires?....yes I know what I bought. After waiting patiently for 2.5 hrs I asked what was going on with my Jeep. One of the guys said we found a problem and showed me my power steering reservoir which was empty. He said it looks like is a leak and could do a flush and fill for $79.95. I declined because I knew this was a scam right away. First off if the system is leaking how is a flush and fill going to fix anything besides wasting my money. I left and added fluid just up the road at a parts store. I have driven the vehicle 1000 miles since then and fluid is perfect. Draining fluid from a customer's vehicle to rip them off is a disgrace. Every time I looked in to see what was going on both the techs were on their cell phones so no wonder it took so long. There was only 1 other car in the shop and this task should not take more than 1 hour. You should be ashamed of yourselves and STAY AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS!!!! read more

I can't actually speak to the quality of the work performed as the two appointments that I've made to have tires installed have not been kept by this establishment. When my first appointment was canceled I was told "we'll prioritize you and get you right in" at the next appointment and that was not the case. My understanding is that if you have an appointment you should be waited on & have your work completed in a reasonable amount of time. Not "we should have it done by the end of the day". If that's the case, why even have an appointment system to begin with, just have a "first come, first served" customer service model. read more

A few months ago I had brought my car in for two new tires. This was an emergency visit, I got a flat on the highway an hour before. After they did the work, all seemed great, and no problems. Scheduled my appointment to have my wheels balanced, and the front end of my truck aligned. The appointment was set for 9am 3/30/22. I arrive promptly at 830 and the place is a ghost town. Doors locked, and lights off (they open at 8am allegedly). I proceeded to sit and wait until my appointment time at 9am to see if they might just be opening late. No, ghost town. So I call the number for the store, and a polite rep answered the phone. I asked if they were open, and I was told "yes, we're here till 6pm". I told the rep that that's odd because the doors are locked, lights off. I was then told to wait, (put on hold) for about three minutes, then nothing... hung up on.. I think this place is a few fries short of a happy meal, or their elevator doesn't reach the top floor, how ever you want to describe it. Good help is tough to find these days. Don't waste your time making an appointment here, you'll show up to building on lockdown during their normal scheduled business hours. read more
