Very bad. I took one bite of my sesame chicken and it was so hard I had to spit it out. Rice was not good either. It was very dirty inside lots of dirty tables not picked up. The bathroom was also not sanitary. The sauces in the dispensers were also very dirty and I couldn't touch them. Chicken also looked unseasoned and raw/slimy. No one ate their meals and it was $70 down the drain. Not to mention an employee passed out in a booth. Never again. We used to come here years and years ago and it was delish! All I can say is... combination Fried rice!!! Yowzer!!! Gave me flashbacks to my NYC childhood and the reason I came back after my husband ordered a few weeks ago! Their beef and broccoli and orange chicken are also very tasty! Would def recommend! Delivery was an hour at high peak lunch time... that was expected. I would give it a higher rating if it was cleaner. Restroom was not clean and fixtures in poor condition. Daily specials make it a decent stop. Portions can vary a lot but food is tasty. Staff are extremely friendly. You have to understand this is more fast food than other options. read more

I have loved this restaurant ever since I was a little kid. The orange beef and chicken fried rice are the best!

I decided to try the orange chicken tonight. My husband usually gets the Mongolian beef, but opted for the orange chicken tonight as well. First, the positive, the portion was very generous. However, I couldn't even finish two pieces. The chicken was extremely dry and the sauce was just nasty. This was a complete waste of our money, we took both boxes of food and threw them into the trash. I will not be back. This restaurant will not give refunds, so just stay away. read more

Ok, so let me preface my four with the fact that I've been searching for over a year to find palatable Chinese food in the Ar Dub. It has been HARD y'all. Sure there is excellent Asian cuisine in Richardson/Plano/N. Garland / Dallas but out here in the stix... it's thin brother... thin. I was almost resolved to Panda Express y'all. That's how down I was about asian food out here. Sure Pho Garden is "ok" but it's all dirty water soup with some stuff in it (not bad but not Pho either - where are my prik chilis???). Anywho, so I decided to try Van's. Not at all unhappy, and actually liked it. Don't get me wrong, it's not chinese food, not really. There are some elements and if I knew Chinese I might be able to get things swung a little more that way but I'm not - so it is what it is. What it is, is very well executed American Chinese food. You can watch them cook your food in the giant woks behind a plexi-glass window. Everyone I've dealt with there is real nice. They even managed to get a little spice in my dish. What I think sets this apart from many of the other areas, it actually looks like they're TRYING to make it Chinese; in as much as you can using a small subsection of Chinese ingredients. Everything is flavorful, it's not over done, or over "La Choy vegged". The sauces are very good too. The proteins are tasty and you dont' wind up with a glom of sauce, 15 frozen vegetable varieties and 1/4 oz meat. Very happy we found Van's, unless some new place opens; this will be the only spot we order from here in the Ar Dub. Hands down! read more

Holy Crap! (I totally said that in my Frank Barone voice). Van Chan's is actually really good. When you're looking for that Americanized Chinese kinda dinner after a hard ass day at work, Van Chan's is it. Like someone else said, the portions are plentiful, it's cheap as hell (two entrees, rice, 4 egg rolls and an order of dumplings were $26) and ready for pick up in 10 minutes. This large and clean restaurant offers delivery, but should you dine in I think you would be a little surprised at the atmosphere compared to most Chinese food places in this price range. A massive menu boasts over 50 items which have no pictures or descriptions. You better have a basic idea of Chinese food in here. The pricing is not just cheap, its a bargain. ANY of their dinner portions will feed 2-3 people easily, which is a cheap evening considering you will get out the door for around $10. Typical meal for my wife and I is Sesame Chicken with Fried Rice and 2 Eggrolls, $11.50 Sometimes we do takeout and sometimes we get delivery, I only rarely eat sitting down in there. No real reason why. This is as good as it gets for fresh Chinese food in Rockwall. I have had better, but this will be a fine choice for dinner or lunch. read more

Yesterday was my first time here. I got takeout, and the food was still burning hot by the time I got home. The Hunan beef was actually spicy and not overly salty like most places, but the veggies were soggy, and it was soupy with oil. There was so much oil that it spilled on the drive home, and there was still plenty of oil left when I transferred it to a bowl. The portion was HUGE for a good price, and I would still go back again for this dish because it gets the job done with flavor and how cheap it is. 4/5 because it was yummy, but it could be so much better if the vegetables weren't so overcooked and swimming in oil. The hot and sour soup was good too. I prefer mine without meat (it has chicken), and I'm also a celery hater, so I was eating around those lol. 5/5 The cream cheese roll was so good, but it was so tiny even though it was only $1.50. I ordered two dishes for takeout. I've ordered here for several years with very few issues. The green been with beef that I ordered was missing the beef. I was all 40 miles away in Arlington by the time I realized the issue. The manager was rude and said I would have to drive the dish back for a refund. I happened to be going back to Rockwall the next day and took the dish back. The lady inspected the dish as if I had picked out every price off beef.
