Food is fantastic. As a parm fanatic I find Washington to be a barren dessert lacking in options. The few options available I hold onto like a moth to a flame regardless of quality. I'm happy to report, Vinnie's is a true hidden gem tucked away in the back corner of the town of Friday harbor. The bread, clearly chosen with care provides a crunch not found this side of the Mississippi. You can feel the care that goes into every sandwich. If you treat Vinnie and Vinnie's with the patience and respect it deserves, you will be rewarded. I missed my ferry home by a few minutes and was excited because I knew I could swing back by Vinnie's. This place truly rocks. 10/10 favorite restaurant in WA.

Meatball sub spicy with a lemonade

I was looking for a restaurant on Friday. Harbor stumbled across cousin Vinny's pizza. I got the meatball sub by far one of the best meatball subs I've had. Asked me if I wanted a spicy and I said yes, and it did not disappoint. Very nice gentleman who made the food shared a little history with me. We both served in the navy.

The pizza is 5 stars. However, this is Washington, so I need forewarn you that if getting offended by the owner's NY attitude is a deal breaker, you really do need to go somewhere else. We were done dirty by San Juan Brewing Company, so we came here. The phone call was pressured, no BS, and I seriously considered just hanging up on the guy. However, my husband was already on the way, we struck out with the other place, and really needed to freakin' eat. And, once he got there, without prodding, the owner actually apologized for rushing me off the phone. So, after that, we were cool. *Keep in mind - this place is CASH ONLY.* Anyhow, I called my husband back and said that I had no idea what the heck I just ordered because the whole ordeal felt like the Spanish Inquisition. But, when he came back with two large pies, my feelings drastically changed. It was DELICIOUS. If you have pre-conceived notions about a margherita pizza being made with fresh basil, etc., you need to know that you won't get that here. Honestly, when I first opened the box, I was wondering what I got. This place uses spinach in place of basil and lots of dried herbs and fresh tomatoes. It's NOT your standard Margherita by any stretch, but it's AMAZING! I LOVED IT. The crust is the best I've had in Washington. The sauce, the cheese - it was all great. I even called my man Vinnie back to let him know, since I felt like we got off on the wrong foot. If you come here with an open mind and let Vinnie unleash his creative pizza artistry on you, you will 100% love what he makes for you. I'm SO glad we chose his place instead of settling for the San Juan Island Brewery that couldn't be bothered with our order. I can't wait to come back!

    Pizza, we ate it

I looked up online last minute pizza places and Cousin Vinnie's was the only one that picked up. The pizza was very thick with toppings and was good, we ate it. Over the phone the owner said how good the garlic bread sticks were and was very emphatic about them when I arrived, they were okay. It cost a lot for the pizza $50 for a large and breadsticks. It was cash only, so lucky I had the cash. Most people don't have cash now. If I was close to the pizza place I would order from there again, but everything costs a lot now.

Cousin Vinnie's does pizza right. Just the perfect balance of cheese and sauce and NY spicy attitude. Pizza that you can fold (and if you are from NY you know what I mean)...Loved the pizza loved the owner. And.... they also sell pizza by the slice....dripping gooey slice of NY Pizza Heaven in this small seaside town called Friday Harbor. Who would have thought and here is the real thing...wait for it... he's not in witness protection program. Grace & Josh (Miami)

That's what you get for $4! Note how dry the pizza is so it is beguiling to curl up

The guy was rude and absolutely covered the slice in pepper flakes. Would skip this place.

Great Pizza. Great Uncle Vinnie. It's all good. And after your delicious slice go next door for a massage. Best double act on the island.

Each pastry was great but the highlight was the berry cheese danish. We also really liked how the apple danish wasn't extremely sweet and the texture of the carrot cake muffin. The bakery also has coffee and pizza available, but we didn't try any of that. Seating wise, there's both indoor and outdoor seating available for guests and water on tap. The ordering process was smooth but we sat, bussed, and served ourself which was fine.

My husband, of course on his first trip to the island, ordered a cinnamon roll. As he was eating he pulled out a massive dark hair fully baked into the cinnamon roll, and as one does, was completely repulsed and threw it away. Sadly it tarnished is experience of the bakery which I had highly praised and was the first stop on our anniversary trip. Aside from this, the bakery has a variety of pastries that usually go quick in the mornings, my favorite is the chocolate croissant. They also have a full sandwich and pizza shop as well as indoor and outdoor seating areas. Service is always fast and they get your food out to you quickly. Again usually this is our go to so hoping it was just a one off experience.

Our party of three visited for lunch at noon on a Thursday. Since we had a reservation, we were seated immediately at a lovely table right by the window. The atmosphere was great, and the staff were incredibly courteous and friendly throughout our meal. We initially thought about starting with some small plates, but we were so eager for seafood that we jumped straight into the entrees. We weren't disappointed: Bouillabaisse: This was our first time trying this dish, and it was the highlight for us. It was incredibly flavorful--exactly what we were craving. Spicy Prawn Mac and Cheese: It definitely lived up to its name! It wasn't "blow-your-head-off" hot, but it had a perfect, noticeable kick that really elevated the dish. Blackened Cod Tacos: These were fantastic. The cod was perfectly prepared and worked so well with the rest of the taco ingredients. We also enjoyed a couple of non-alcoholic drinks that hit the spot, though I'll admit that since I'm writing this a couple of weeks later, I forgot to snag photos or the specific names of the drinks! They also have a really nice patio area if you prefer dining outdoors. Whether you're a seafood lover or just looking for a great meal with a view, this place is a must-visit!
