It has been hot and humid in Nashville! After an exhausting day of packing and moving, we decided to treat ourselves to some ice cream. I've been meaning to try Van Leeuwen in Cali, but our plans have not yet aligned to be around one of their locations. But on this day, the daughter said it was just a short drive away so off we went! We were quite lucky to arrive to an open parking spot right in front and no one in the shop. The worker was very helpful in helping us decide by offering samples. All the flavors were so unique and tasted just as they were named. It was hard to decide! The daughter eventually chose two scoops -- Earl Grey Tea and Brown Sugar Cookie Dough Brownie. For me -- Mango Sticky Rice. It was all so, so yummy and incredibly satisfying! I'm so glad to have finally tried Van Leeuwen ice cream! Really good quality ice cream! There are such unique artisanal flavors, and the ice cream is rich and decadent. If you want to try something unique this is a good spot. They let us try as many samples as we wanted and service was very friendly! What a great new addition to the ice cream places in town. Full of great ingredients and large portions. The three flavors I tried were absolutely delicious and full of mix-ins. I am so excited to see Van Leeuwen come to Nashville as it was one of my favorite icecream shops from New York City! The flavors are unique and so delicious. Here's the scoop!! A Manhattan flavorite is now in Nashville. Edgehill village. And I had to be among the first to try it. Did that mean standing in line for an hour? Would you judge me if it did? Who doesn't love ice cream?! my husband and I checked this place out since I was craving a sweet treat. I ordered a sundae (birthday cake themed) and he got a scoop of the coffee ice cream. The shop is small so it fills up quickly but the staff does their best to get your order taken and served as fast as possible. They are great with letting you sample flavors before ordering and were very friendly. You can even pick up a pint of your favorite flavor to take home plus dog dessert too! Van Leeuwen is a New York established business and as a fellow New Yorker, I had to try the new location. I came for the opening day where you were able to get 1$ scoops for the first two hours. The first 100 customers also got a unique tote from the location. Unfortunately, I was a couple of people off from 100 but the ice cream made it worth it. I ordered the Blue Jasmine Passion Fruit Swirl and the earl grey tea for my Fiancée who couldn't stand in line. Technically we were only supposed to get one 1$ scoop but I think the owner realized it was for my Fiancée and made an exception. I really appreciated that he went above and beyond for me. So much that I had to "spin the block later on that week and get two more scoops for both of us. Glad to see we have a location in Nashville and I can't wait to return! read more

The staff were amazing to make this grand opening go so smoothly on an 80 degree day! I got the $1 scoop special of the day and opted to pay extra for the handmade waffle cone (so worth it). The shop is everything you could want from and ice cream shop cool and inviting. Will definitely be checking them out again another day to try out all the flavors. My favorite ice cream shop in town. I love me a good hot fudge sundae and I like that this place had the option to build your own. I will mention one thing - we've been at least 7 times and every single time they charge me incorrectly and almost end up paying more. We had two build your own mini sundaes that should have been $9. My total came out to $26, on multiple occasions. I had to tell the cashier each time and it got fixed but it made me wonder how many people are getting jipped. They were individually adding the toppings which were $1.50 even though the mini sundaes include 3 toppings. They've since opened a new location in the gulch and they made the same mistake there as well but they fixed it. Last night they had a different look and ad for the mini sundae and that seems to have fixed the issue. Overall it's so delicious, hence why I've been back so many times. I love to see them opening multiple locations. They deserve the recognition! There's not much seating available but there's seating outside! read more

Efficiency issues (all staff members in store serving only one customer party at a time = long line), product issues (raw waffle cones, had to return), brand knowledge issues (asked staff how to correctly say store name, didn't know).
