Elizabeth at Van Nuys Flowers is truly an artist. My husband and I met with her a few months out from the wedding and were so impressed with Elizabeth's energy and visible passion for what she does. All of the arrangements in her portfolio were gorgeous and she showed us tons of flowers that she thought might fit our vision. A wonderful feature of Van Nuys Flowers is the price. They were by far the most affordable of all of the florists that I researched and even include the option to customize each item you order (budget, value, and luxury) to fit your budget. All of the florals that we ordered from Elizabeth were incredibly lush, perfectly fragrant and made our venue look breath-taking. Elizabeth's attention to detail and thoughtfulness in taking care of her clients was outstanding. She went out of her way to special order some lovely white and purple orchids for our arrangements and exceeded my expectations in her set-up of the florals on the day of. I had shown Elizabeth a photo of cake flowers that I loved and she matched (& exceeded!) the beauty of it with our cake. Two experiences: 1) I walked in one afternoon with a spring in my step, hope in my heart and only $10 to my name for a little Date Night bouquet. The gentleman DID NOT laugh me out of there, but instead dropped what he was doing and treated me like I had $300 to spend. He put together a bouquet that was worth three times what I had and I walked out feeling like solid gold. 2) I called in a panic looking for a big order when my wholesale florist downtown went MIA. Unfortunately, I am updating my review based on the experience a friend of mine recently had with Elizabeth. Because Elizabeth was so accommodating during my wedding, I have recommended her to all of my engaged friends without hesitation. My maid of honor ended up using her as her florist and everything went fine. However, another one of my friends recently met with Elizabeth and had a different experience. After her initial meeting with Elizabeth, my friend e-mailed back and forth asking some specific questions about the floral arrangements she had in mind. She wanted to be sure she was going to get exactly what she wanted. She then received an e-mail saying if she had any more questions, she would either need to put down a deposit or pay her a $235/hr consultation fee for her expertise. Ummm...sorry, $235/hr? Neither myself nor my maid of honor heard were ever told of this "consultation fee"; it seemed like she was just blowing off my friend. It's a shame, because she was planning on going with Elizabeth until she received that e-mail. I'm NOT comfortable referring Elizabeth to my friends anymore. While what Elizabeth provided for our wedding looked great, we did not get everything we paid for. We ordered a toss bouquet and paid for it in full (everything has to be paid for before you see any of it), but the day of the wedding, it never showed. Also, she didn't exactly do everything in her power to make us feel comfortable through the process of putting together our order. She is disorganized and a lot of our consultation with her was spent sitting around while she looked for specific pictures that she couldn't find in scattered albums around her office. When it came to getting us an estimate, it took her days longer than she expected because she was having "computer problems." I guess I shouldn't have been surprised when she missed the toss bouquet. My friend recently had an experience where she met with Elizabeth, but then when she had more questions after the initial consultation, she was told that she would have to pay $235 an hour for any further questions for her "expertise." The long and short of it: Pros: Quality of the floral arrangements. Cons: Somewhat difficult to work with and needs constant follow-up. Would be three to four stars, but lowered due to missing items and unprofessional business practices. read more

The site I was having my reception (Sportsmens Lodge Event Center) recommended Elizabeth to me and gave me her card. THANK GOD! I had a very short time to plan the details for my wedding ( i had 3 weeks total to plan). I called a couple of florists before i called Elizabeth, and they were all very expensive and not very helpful. I set up an appt with Elizabeth and when i met with her, it was SO easy. I am very simple, I wasnt even sold on having flowers, but I am so glad i did! I told her my do's and dont's and colors and that was it! She took a lot of the stress off of me by knowing exactly what she was doing, reassuring me i would be happy and that was pretty much it! It only took about 20 minutes of my time... The day of my wedding (jan 7, 2012) they delivered the bouquets to my room on time and they were STUNNING! Better than i couldve imagined. All of my bridesmaids were in love with theirs and i was obsessed with mine! Elizabeth even hand died feathers for the girls bouquets because none matched perfectly.... Elizabeth is an absolute professional with 30 years of experience. My wedding coordinator has worked with Elizabeth several times and highly recommended her. I'm not a flower buff, but she quickly figured out what I wanted despite my relative lack of familiarity with flowers. I gave her a color palette and let her work her magic. She gives you a spreadsheet with three pricing tiers for each item you want to order. You can then mix and match depending on your priorities. I'm so glad I didn't try to DIY my flowers! Ruined Valentines Day for my wife and I. Ordered flowers for the 14th and they were never delivered. Don't order from here, don't order from bloomnation period. Worst Valentines ever. No call back, no tracking on flower delivery, no more room to leave any other message, bad service altogether. I placed a $160 order on a bouquet of succulents for my mother for Mother's Day . I received a confirmation email letting me know my delivery would in fact show up as planned on may 10 th . Well Mother's day arrives and I'm sitting there as hour after hour rolls by and my bouquet fails to arrive . So around 4:00 I think hmm I should call the shop and just see if I'm over thinking it there's no possible way they won't come I didn't receive a call or email informing me of an issue . I pull up the website and it says THEY ARE CLOSED . Now I'm thinking this has to be a joke but get this IT WASNT. I call the number posted online SEVERAL times to be ignored and sent to voicemail at different numbers of rings each time. Funny enough their voicemail box is full so I can't even leave a voicemail. I do the only other thing I'm given an option of and email the business linking my confirmation email with the date and number for my order and not to my surprise I was never replied to. So i wait until the next day thinking they'll call or email right ? BIG FAT NO. I give up around 2:00 and give them a ring and what they told me was absolutely LAUGHABLE. I was informed my purchase never arrived because "uhhhh welll some of the goods were damaged during delivery sooo uuummm yeah they had to come back to the shop." So I ask the logical question WHY WASNT I EMAILED BACK WHY WASNT I CALLED AND INFORMED MY DELIVERY WAS DAMAGED? Your shop was posted as closed and my call was ignored several times . After about 60 more seconds of ummms and uhhsss my question was ignored and I was told "let me check and see if it's out for delivery today". She gets back on the phone to inform me they hadn't even made it yet but she'll "get someone right on it and have it sent out" . MY ORDER FINALLY SHOWS UP AT 8:00 pm 6 hours later and my mother had to sign for it in her pajamas and not to my surprise was clearly put together half assed I payed extra money to have more flowers and succulents made into a bigger arrangement and was sent the basic bouquet . I will be calling my bank and having my money returned to me since no one answers the phone or emails at this business . This place is a scam and a joke I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere . read more

I ordered a dozen roses in a wooden box and gave the attendant two addresses; work and home with phone numbers were supplied giving to the option to deliver either at home or workplace . I chose this florist because it was close to both locations giving the concession to deliver a day before valentines . I live in San Antonio TX and was trying to facilitate the processes to treat my lady. The so called florist attempted to deliver after 6:30 pm yesterday when my girl was out and did nothing to correct the error instead she blamed me for giving a wrong address. the review is one star. I called this flower shop on May 8th and ordered Mother's Day flowers for my wife who is a nurse and was working on Mother's Day. I called the store and explained that I needed the flowers delivered during her shift from 7am-3pm. The lady told me that they deliver flowers to the businesses first and would deliver Sunday morning. I found Elizabeth and Van Nuys flowers through TheKnot.com. By the time I found my way to her door, I was super depressed about ever finding an affordable and quality florist. I had been quoted $2000+ minimums on my wedding, when all I wanted were the bouquets and boutonnieres and MAYBE some petals if they were within my modest budget. I'll admit, I'm a control freak and I was skeptical. I brought in my example photos, read over her shoulder, asked for a runthrough etc. I didn't know for sure if she was really taking me to heart and I was advised against a runthrough for quality reasons. But.... we were more than comfortable with her overly-reasonable quote. So much so, we splurged on the 'deluxe' bridal bouquet and the offer to throw in a few more petal bunches. So, I WAS SO EXCITED and relieved! when I walked in on my wedding day to pick up my flowers. They were beautiful! Exactly what I wanted and more. So much more. I cannot express how extremely disappointed I am in Van Nuys Florist. I ordered a bouquet of flowers for my grandmothers 97th BDay last week. Many of the flowers that arrived were old and shriveled up. When my grandma called to let them know, the girls who answered the phone told her that they had used flowers from a wedding they had earlier in the day. Can you believe it??? Reused flowers??? I really hate giving out bad reviews but I need to for this. The whole wedding flower planning process with Elizabeth was very confusing and frustrating to say the least. Elizabeth made me feel that because We couldn't afford all the extra bows and whistles our wedding wasn't going to be nice. I told her I preferred simplicity anyways, it was a rustic wedding after all. I had also told her I didn't want the flowers(especially the ivory roses) to look dead before I walked down the isle because I had just been to a wedding with that problem. And the roses were to be kept at a minimum bc my whole theme was based of of sunflowers which are my favorite. All I wanted was large sunflowers, mini sunflowers, a few ivory roses and baby's breath. My bouquet didn't even have large sunflowers at all!!! And it was mostly DEAD brown edged ivory roses!! I didn't even take pictures with it bc I hates it so much. My husbands flower was supposed to be mini sunflowers and all it was was an ivory rose! So he made his dad wear it and he wore his dads. Then she didn't even give us the correct number of bouteniers, we had to make my dad one by taking things from out centerpieces. My mother in laws corsage didn't match anything and didn't have ANY of the flowers that were on our proposal. Now onto the bridesmaids bouquets, the bottoms were not even at all and cut extremely jagged, and the ribbon wrapped around them was done in an extremely sloppy fashion, all my bridesmaids complained bc they kept getting stabbed! One of our centerpieces even had a huge GREEN sunflower, how does that even happen!?? My husband paid for the whole wedding and I did every other detail from the flower girl dresses to the favors. I should have done the flowers as well. If you pay $150 for your bouquet it should at least be what you wanted. And not completely dead before the ceremony! She even added these ugly red things that didn't match the wedding whatsoever. I've never been so disappointed. read more

I ordered flowers for a funeral about a week or so ago. I spoke to Elizabeth, she was extremely helpful and answered all of my questions. The casket spray and easel spray were delivered directly to the church that the services were held at. They called to confirm address and a time to drop off.
