There are 2 golf courses here depending on skills level. There is an 18 hole par 3 course that is great for beginners, and was the first course I have ever played, and by the speed of the course, it seems to be where everyone is learning to play. For now, just came here for the driving range to get back into the swing of things. $10 for a large bucket (100 balls). $1 club rental if needed. Range is nice and wide, grassy and has easy to read markers. There is no upper level if that matters, but half of the spots are shaded. There are no safety barriers between each mat so you have to be a little more wary of stray shots. There's also a small practice green, though i didn't see a chipping area. The Van Nuys Airport is right next door so there were fly overs every 5 minutes, and that can be distracting. I plan on trying out the course which is very reasonably priced ($10 for 9 holes), and I'll update when that happens. read more

Went here only for the driving range but the place is awesome. The on-duty pro in the shop was very helpful and friendly which was great since we're beginners. We had a great time and we'll definitely be back. Only $8 for a large bucket if you check in on yelp. I'ts $1 to rent a club if you don't have your own. (If you're deciding between this driving range and the one at the near by Balboa Park Golf Course, don't wast your time at Balboa, it's dingy and the attendant was very rude for no reason both times I've gone there.) read more

I'm giving this 4-stars because "Yay! I'm a fan" but since they charge $17 - $22 on the weekend 3 stars is more appropriate. Pros, Driving Range: Excellent driving range. $10 large bucket. Very big, must have 30 or more stalls. Very easy to find a place to by yourself if you want to. Well lit at night and they use yellow balls which are easier to track at night (at least for me). The mats are all in excellent condition. The practice areas are also very good. Two pitching areas, one with a sand trap. You have enough room to practice your 30 yarders. Large putting green that is in pretty good shape. It is slow though like the rest of their greens. Pros, Courses: 18 hole par 3 course and a 9 hole executive. The 18 hole course is lit at night tues - thurs, last tee time 8pm. The executive is lit 7 days a week, last tee time 730pm. Fun course, greens are in very good shape considering. Trees come in to play on a few holes. Easy walkable course and can get through the executive in about 1hr 15 or 18 on the par 3 in about 2hr. The executive has 3 - par 4s, 300ish yards. Cons: No teeing off grass on any part of the course or driving range. They should have this for a $20 weekend round. If your going to the range or even the course it's a good idea to buy a rubber tee as you likely won't find one. The lights on the range stop around the 150 - 200yard mark so at night it's tough to track the drives. The courses have no bunkers or water. I think there is one sand trap on one of the executive holes but its 40 yards in on a 100 yard hole so its completely out of play. Many golfers fail to repair ball marks. Careful when walking the par 4's as the fairways are narrow and there are tons of errant shots. The greens are very slow so that will pad your score. Most of the mats on the courses are in good condition but there are a few that are atrocious. I'm at a loss why they don't replaces those 2 or 3... read more

Its been a few years since I last stopped by the Van Nuys Golf Course and is was rather suprised by what I was greeted with. It seems the place has changed hands and the new ownership has been really improving things. The turf quality was very good with nicely manicured greens. A few out of play areas were needing some attention but thats not a big deal at all. Still hitting off of paving with mats but the rest of the experience was really good. read more

I usually just hit the range at this GC but I played the par 3 course with a buddy today and these are my thoughts: 1) super cheap for a round ($19) 2) beer and food is reasonably priced 3) course itself isn't in the greatest shape but I mean for $19 for 18 holes, who's complaining? 4) thought it was interesting that on the par 3 course you tee off on mats rather than actual grass but whatever. This is the perfect place for beginner golfers. They have an 18 hole beginners course that can be played 9 holes each or all 18 and then a 9 hole executive course for those beginners who are looking for a bit of a challenge. The executive course has three par 4 holes and the rest par 3s. The other 18 are all par 3s. Van Nuys also gives lessons, has a fully functioning driving range and a mini golf course for all the youngsters (or young-at-heart, um...sters). The prices are very reasonable and most everyone that works there is pretty friendly. I'm definitely a beginner and I feel right at home at this place. Most times I go there hasn't been much of a wait. I never feel rushed and if I do? Well I've got a wide array of golf clubs to assault people with (my favorite is the 5 iron, straight and heavy for optimum bludgeoning results)! Solid golf course to get the job done, and have a good solid round with a couple buddies while drinking some cold ones! The course is great, it has gotten alot better recently, especially the greens. Greens are nice, very soft during the day unless its really hot and sunny then they firm up on you a little bit but they are smooth to where you cant blame the greens for a missed put lol! Service- Some of the club house guys are cool, but Ryan is the nicest by far. Very cool guys, likes to talk to you rather than just take ur payment and have you on your way, hes also a very good golfer and teacher so its always good to talk it up with before you go enjoy the round. Course- Theres a very cool driving range, can take quite a few people goes about 200-250 yards, the range balls go the distance. Theres a full 18 par 3 thats very fun to play, not so challenging but solid par 3. As well as 9 hole executive course where you have 3 par 4's back to back to back which are pretty fun to play. 2 separate putting greens, one that they just recently re opened which is awesome because it has a down hill and up hill so you can work on many different shots. They having a chipping area and also a bunker to strictly practice out of which is pretty rare to have at a course i think. Food- not a bad place to eat actually, nice kitchen very clean, got a cook there that can cook some good food. Just got the volcano chicken sandwich, was kind of small but it sure as hell didnt lack flavor lol. I give it a 8.5/10 just because the location is a little weird, and some times it gets packed, and sometimes the club house guys arent enjoyable to interact with when purchasing your round. OH! they also just added foot golf, played it once! VERY FUN game! BTW!!! Apparently its Adopt a Dog there. I mean i love dogs, but last time i was in there these little chihuahua were barking up a storm about to take the door down. Couldnt even here how much my total was, and i got scared because it caught be my surprise lol! Why are there dogs chilling closed room? I decided to drop in and play Par 3 9 hole course today for a late afternoon tee time. I used to come here a while back and was glad to see the place got a little bit of a face lift. The greens are better maintained than I last remembered, but still has some dirt patches here and there. If you're looking for a quiet and relaxing place, this place isn't for you. Golf course is located to next to an airport, and there will be planes flying overhead. Beginner or advanced, this is a great place to work on your skills no matter what level you are. I've been bring my kids here for over 2 years to learn how to play golf. The kids golf pros are really friendly and are good with kids. The course is well maintained. I wish there was more shade. Sometimes it gets really hot and there is no way to find cover, especially on the driving range. They do have some weak looking covers on half of the driving range, but they are useless because the sun pokes right through them because the covers are so porous. read more

This review is for the driving range only. I came here at dusk to practice my golf swing with a couple of friends. The prices for balls were very cheap, especially if you use their check-in offer, and a tee was $1 (though I'll admit it's a bit of a buzzkill to have to pay for tees). The range itself had ample lighting as the sun set, and the grass was well maintained. The staff was also extremely friendly. I'll be back since my game still needs a lot of work. read more

I was there today between 130 and 4 PM . My car was broken into the driver door handle key hole was damaged broken, and lots of things were taken from my car. I called to report it to the business, for them to take security measures to protect their customers . Decent little executive course where you can use all the clubs in your bag. The par 3s are all rather short with the longest at 140 yards, longest par 4 is 305 yards. They've been updating the course recently which is nice. Moderately priced. read more

This is a great place for beginners to practice golf. If you go there on a weekday, it's only $8 for 9 holes or $13 for 18 holes on the par-3 course. There's also an "executive" course if you want more of a challenge. There are very few people out there, so you can practice without feeling hurried or any type of pressure. This course wasn't the best, but wasn't the worst, either. I think the best part about it is that you can do night golfing here! However, there were TONS of leaves all over the course and there wasn't quite enough light once the sun went down completely. Take either brightly colored balls or light-up balls to play with. Also, the putting greens are carpet thick and a bit tough to put on due to all the leaves. It wasn't overcrowded and the few cons are definitely tolerable. We had a good time playing here, regardless and will go back. read more

This is a nice tiny par 3 course with a couple par 4s thrown in. Prices are really good and you can even play at night because the course is also lit! If you just want to get out and swing a bit this is a great place to go. Sometimes there can be a little too much debris and leaves on the course. A great, great place for beginners, children and those learning the game to come play a short course and enjoy the game. There are two courses here, a short par 3 and an executive course with a few par 4's. The courses are nice, friendly and wide. You won't lose your ball here. It's pretty attractive too, they planted a lot of tall palm trees here. A great place to play when Woodley Lakes is overly busy and you can't get a tee time. Hey, it's also cheap here too. $9-17 for a round of golf. They also have golf pros here to help you with private lessons and they also have clinics for those who want to learn in a group. A really cool aspect of this course is it's close proximity to the Van Nuys Airport so planes are just taking pff and landing just hundred of feet right above you. Some of those planes are private jets which really look cool and make a lot of noise. The golf range here is clean and they use nice synthetic mats and half of the range is shaded. It's really nice here to practice but be warned, of high winds, loud jet noise and of course, valley people. read more

Good practice facility. The practice balls looked brand new (a nice perk) and buckets priced fairly. The yardage seemed a bit off at the range, I can't throw a football 50 yards but I could have pegged the marker on the fly. Not a huge deal and the low flying aircraft aren't that much of a distraction (look at it this way -- if a plane were to overshoot the runway at Van Nuys Airport it would end up on the far end of the range.) I have played the executive course and it's decently fun, the teeboxes are all mats, water hazards are drained and bunkers are hard. But the layout is good and it's an easy walk, I'll definitely play it again! Haven't tried either of the par 3 tracks, yet. read more

Van Nuys has an awesome 18-hole Par 3, which you can play straight-through, or just 9-holes if you want . Theirs also a 9-hole Executive Course that throws a few Par 4's into the mix. There's no sand or water traps anywhere, which makes it a great place for rookies like me. There's also a driving range and a strip club. there are so many nicer places to go to the driving range then this place. walked in and stood at the counter, place was empty, waiting for the guy sitting behind the counter to finish texting. He had his legs on the counter and looked at me, with phone in hand, and said "what?" I asked about getting a bucket of balls and he could only point to a piece of paper. paid for the bucket...then asked where i get the balls from. Obviously I had not been there before, so he pointed to the receipt and said that is my pin code. that is great and dandy, but where is the machine to get the balls? so irritated that i could only hit 8 balls before going to the other driving range. paid $8 for 70 balls at Van Nuys other location... $8 for 120 balls do your research read more

This golf course is nice for beginners but they do not keep the grass in good condition, all the water hazards on the par 3 18 hole side have been drained. The driving range has seen better days. Last time I was there it seemed like it was family picnic day on the course, people were treating it like it was a park and hitting off any and every tee box they could. My friend got his ball stolen after he teed off by a little kid. The executive course is a lot nicer, this is the only course I would recommend playing even if it is a little advance. read more

I started golfing here a little over a year ago (being completely new to the sport). I will admit, at first this place was a bit of an eye sore. However I didn't care. I was learning the game and needed a local spot to be able to get some fundamentals down. In the past year or so they have made some huge improvements to the course. New practice area, new pavement, hell.. they even added a little restaurant with some decent food AND they serve beer as well. Yes, this place has changed a lot in the last year.... then again, so have I. Thanks to this place. Great place for anyone new to learn and not have to worry so much about annoying others too much.
