I live in Laguna Beach and for years I used a tailor that several stores at South Coast Plaza use. On a whim one day, when I needed a job done quickly, I tried Van Tailor since I live nearby. I've been going to Van Tailor exclusively now, for a couple of years. There's nothing Wendy can't do. I had a silk gown for our daughter's wedding that she took apart and remade so that it fit me perfectly. My husband has her with his designer suits. I'm so glad we found her. She isn't inexpensive, but her pricing is fair because she's the best we've found. I trust her because she does beautiful work each time, no matter what fabric or item I've needed altered. For small jobs, I've found her to work very fast as well, which is convenient when I'm traveling or need something done quickly. read more

I brought in a vintage Gucci dress that had beautiful lines but then strange asymmetrical straps that meant the dress did not stay on me well. I was very nervous about how tailoring might change the line and the fit of the dress but she did an amazing job. She had me come in part way through the alteration to check and measure again since it was a very complicated tailoring, and at that point we made some adjustments, which I really appreciated. I am new in town and went to two tailors with favorable reviews to have the waist taken in on jeans. When I took another pair of jeans to Van Tailor for the same thing, what a difference! The workmanship was exquisite. The jeans were reversible so both sides had to be perfect and they were. The other high end tailor also shortened another pair incorrectly. great service. van is very knowledgeable about men's clothing and style variations around the world, but unlike some other tailors he doesn't try pushing is opinions on you. i had two made-to-measure-suits created for me that needed some slight adjustments upon arrival. sleeve shortening on both and just a bit of the width taken out of the back of another. both cam back perfectly. my wife also had some of those absurdly expensive jeans hemmed and she was very happy with the result. read more

(I try not to leave my bubble if I can help it! Lol!) He did such a great job on my pants that I decided to write my first Yelp review. He definitely knows what he's doing as he is an actual tailor that makes and designs custom suits and clothing (not someone who just does alterations). Rude owner, bad hem. I had a pair of dress pants that needed a simple hem, and this shop was nearby, so I thought I'd give them a shot. What a mistake! Even though the chalk looked good when he measured the hem, it was probably an inch too short when I got them. The owner was also very rude. When I offered a credit card for my $12 tab, he started insisting, "I told you no credit card under $20!" He must have been confused about who he was taking to, because he had never said anything like it. With so many tailors around Laguna, I'll try somewhere else next time. read more

Van is the Man! Van has always done great work for over 15 years for me. One time I needed a dress altered everywhere for a charity event that night. Van did a perfect job... I had a gentleman approach me on the dance floor who said that his table took a vote, and I won the best dress of the night!!! I first discovered Van when we moved to Laguna in 1989 and I've been a loyal customer ever since. Although he's on PCH, there is parking in the back as well so that problem's resolved. He always does stellar work and his prices are very reasonable. Because he keeps them low, he does prefer cash or checks to credit cards to avoid the fees. Although he's not a big conversationalist, Van is always nice to me and my family so I've recommended him to many friends and neighbors and they all seem to agree. read more
