I'm not sure how this dealership got so many bad reviews. I went there today and had an excellent experience. I made an appointment and was promptly greeted by Audrie who was warm, friendly and knowledgeable. I knew the exact car I wanted and their price was $2000 less than the other 3 dealerships I had visited. I walked out of there 3 hours later having purchased the exact car I came for. I got a decent price on my trade too. Everyone I came into contact with was very friendly. My only complaint was there was no soda machine- they only had healthy drinks/ snacks for purchase. My mom has prepaid maintenance and went in for recall but they said she already had it done so talked her into servicing her car which she didn't need. We have dealt in past 8+ yrs getting multiple cars for the family and have always gotten very good customer service. Our last 2 vehicles were leased and recently returned to look at a up-to-date Santa Fe model. Being senior citizens and knowing we could not afford much in monthly payments and especially at this time due to the shortage of vehicles, Joyce our sales person found us a one owner 2018 Santa Fe fully loaded. We weren't interested going backwards in years but after testing driving and seeing what this year model had we ended up getting it. We had some work done on our bumper at the service department. Ordered parts and on the day of I received a call from the dealership saying that we had to sign a waiver stating that they are no longer liable because of a tiny crack in my bumper. I thought that was fine at the time, understandable. The crack has been there for years so no big deal. My wife goes to pick up the car, signs the waiver AND THEN they tell us "oh by the way, you are missing a piece of your bumper because it was not ordered" BUT WAIT--we just signed a waiver stating that you are not liable for work, but neglect to tell us a piece is missing?! Though it probably was not meant to be shady, it sure feels like it. One of the managers tried to blame us stating that he could not get a hold of my wife, but in fact it was the opposite. She called multiple times with no response, and I was also told we were sent pictures of the work that never came. To add insult to injury, we were being charged $250 to complete the work, but the part is not in stock, so we need to wait a week. This is of course after we paid to have it done already. I told the manager I didn't think we should have to pay for this, and he said best they could do is $80 off. I will go elsewhere for my service from now on. My wife and I test drove a used car on 12/22. The sales associate helping us was Deangelo I think. During the test drive he asked us what we did for a living... my wife answered and he then asked about me and I said I am disabled and don't work... I was sitting in the back seat with another associate who was shadowing the salesman. When I told Him I'm disabled he turned around from the front seat and looked me up and down and said "well you don't look disabled to me". This man has no idea who I am or where I am from and chooses to discriminate. I had a 11 am service appointment for today (3/8/23). When I arrived at 10;45am there was a line of 3 vehicles waiting to be checked in ahead of me. After a 15 minute wait a service adviser finally appeared and let me know there would be an additional 1.5 hour wait to be serviced. What is the point of making a reservation! This is an unacceptable waste of my time and I will not return to this poorly managed dealership for future vehicle service. read more

This place has the worst service department. The service representatives are rude, call you about your car and get sarcastic and/or have an attitude with you for asking questions. Went in for a simple brake change in June 2023 (brand new cars should not need a brake change), that turned into the car having brake system failure which they just called spongy brakes! They were not that way when I dropped them off! Gave the car back to me to drive home and I had to slam on the brakes to not hit a car at the light soon as I turned out do the dealership. (The bake petal touch the floor of the vehicle)They kept the car for 3 months! Fast forward to now the brake system is having issues again! This is a 1.5 year old vehicle (2022). They decided to change policy and now they take your car let it sit for days, even with an appointment, before being diagnosed and leave you stranded now. You can no longer get a loaner before your car is diagnosed. This horrible process is why they have a large waitlist for loaner cars. The responses to me asking how I am supposed to get to work are "we can't do anything about that" "you can get yourself a rental car" "you are not the only car here." This place does not care about their customers. Have never had poor service to this extent. I would love to go to another place but they claim the work on the brakes is only warrantied specially to them since they did the work even though I have 5 year manufacturer warranty. RUN to any other place but with all their service problem not compelled to say Hyundai is a good manufacture either. read more

Have brought my 2022 vehicle in for issues with door and gas tank not opening since purchasing it in October 2021. Literally less than 4 months after purchase. First time was for gas tank door not opening, they fixed the latch and told me it was fine and they could shimmy the door to open it and showed me how. Forward a few weeks later same issue. I drop it off again but mention issues with door now not opening so I have to climb through the back or passenger side door to open driver door. They look it over and replace gas tank door but couldn't mimic driver door issue. I didn't want to go without my vehicle so I just ignored it. Now we're in colder months and it is very frustrating to not be able to open your drive door and enter the vehicle the intended way. This is now my 4th time dropping it off for the issue and contacting them about it. I dropped it off a few weeks ago and they stated the would replace gas tank door again but I could pick car up until the part came in. We got a call that part was in but our service advisor was off so we dropped it off with a new advisor and By this time I had to get a special case manager on this issue as I was told this year and model did not have recalls out although previous years have had issues with door latches as far back as 2016. It just didn't sit right with me and I'm over the run around. Dropped car back off Thursday to replace gas tank door and was told it would only take 4 hours but to be patient with them. We said really Saturday would be fine if they needed the time. Forward to Saturday and the vehicle hasn't even been looked at. They "didn't know what happened but would get it looked at Monday". Monday comes around no calls or updates. I have to initiate any and all updates on the vehicle I am paying to not drive. Then was told a specialist would have to look at it. I was promised I would get shuttled to the service department and put in a loaner on Monday . That never happened and then the winter storm came so I gave them extra days before I called again since I figured no one would be there. I call today, 3 days later, and someone answers. A very rude young girl at the desk. She seems to dislike being asked questions or dealing with customers. Which is odd given the nature of the service department. It seems as though a specialist had already checked the car and this 2022 vehicle has an electrical issue that is causing the doors to not function properly. Again no update. It is not the service departments fault for shotty engineering and they will be the first to tell you that, but the complete lack of regard for customers once you purchase a vehicle is astounding. I have neverrrrr had this type of service at any other dealership before. I was also then told the loaner vehicle I had been promised was now to be given to someone else to switch their current loaner vehicle out . They do have others coming in but with the weather people don't want to drive. I have been more than nice, but to say I'm frustrated is an understatement. I wish I didn't have to drive or worry about making a living but I do. I work at the hospital and we never close. I don't have the luxury to call off when you are only allowed 3 calls offs a year before you are written up and fired. This is the first and last time. I will NEVERRRRR purchase a vehicle from this dealership and I have already mentioned this to numerous friends. Another friend is having the same issues with their 2022 tuscon. My vehicle is still there awaiting a part that may or may not get there next week weather permitting. . But that is still not to say if it will get worked on or even looked at unless it is on someone's leisure or I call to make sure that happens. It's not their car or their time or money so it makes no difference to them whether their customers have a vehicle or not. Especially it being in a timely manner. Also no regard to appointments. I had the worst experience with the sales managers at this dealer. I visited the dealer on Tuesday afternoon and received a price for a car. I received a call on Wednesday afternoon, and I was offered a price that was a few hundred dollars less. I setup an appointment to come in on Thursday to purchase the car. When I got there, they tried to raise the price $1000. I walked away. The sales manager that tried to raise the price was Rick Lovier. Had appointment scheduled to view a truck. While driving 2.5hrs to the dealership from my home, the called to tell me the truck in question was headed to auction and would not be available unless there was a confirmed deal. After repeatedly telling them I had cash in hand to purchase said truck they told me it would bring more than what I offered at auction. I offered $2-3k over asking price. The sales manager if that's what you want to call him told me it would take at least $9-10k over asking price to make a deal happen. Not only did they confirm my appointment but the proceeded to strong arm me into a deal over the phone. What crooks. Their loss. I hope this helps deter some of you from trying to do business with this group or any other Vandergriff group. 1. Misleading advertisement to lure people . When inside the dealership the said deal is never even discussed. For eg this dealership promotions says 1.99 apr but that quickly became 6.99 even with excellent credit forget about 0% apr for 72 mnths . It's never even shown or talked about. 2. THE NUMBERS don't add up. The number from the website and the actual sheet provided do not match . When asked the supposed manager apparently says "It's a simple math " . Well, we've not studied in our respective fields of Economics and Computer Science to be patronized by a person who is trying to con us into paying more. 3. Salesperson is made to act like some sort of deal is happening ( I did feel bad for him) with multiple to and fro when one person could have just come and told us to pay $40 more because "$40 won't make or break us". Here is where I will teach "simple math" . $40 x 72 = $ 2880 There is a law that prohibits any dealership from doing this (false advertisement) and yet I cannot believe this is still happening. No wonder their reluctance to give any paper with price estimation ( good thing I took some pictures) I am particularly mad that these people will prey on people who will loose focus on the total price and will concern themselves of only monthly payment . The total price, apr and rebate keeps changing and are deliberately made to be confusing. Loved the car but absolutely worse experience. Zero customer service . We went in to look at a car for our son listed on the dealerships website (that was not even available to see). Salesman and manager said they cannot honor their own online pricing, claiming the prices listed on their website are only applicable to customers who qualify for "various discounts" for which we did not qualify. When I asked him to break down the numbers on the other vehicles, he said okay and took my folder which had all of my information in it and started walking away, I immediately walked behind him telling / (almost yelling) at him I do not want my information ran yet and he ignored me and continued to walk away until he got to the front and started making copies of my PERSONAL INFORMATION. Called Dallas area Hyundai dealers (Freeman, Bob Stallings, Van) as well as local locksmiths to get new key fob programmed with Elantra. Vandergriff was the only place that charged a reasonable price ($30) for the procedure that takes about 10 minutes with their computers (as opposed to $120+ with those other dealers/locksmiths). Made an appointment and went in and got it done. Did take about 45 minutes, which was longer than I would have liked, but they were busy, so I left pretty pleased with the service. read more

Took my 2015 Sonata to Vandergriff Hyundai were i puchased in 2014 and got all oil changes & maintenance done.....was told it would be 3 weeks before they could even get diagnostics...After 4 weeks i was given a bill/ estimate for the same things that i had repaired in Sept. 2021 which was over 2500.00!!!!... After speaking with them they agreed that i would only be charged for oil valve control since it is original part and less than 6 months and lee than 12000 miles.... i agree to pay 400.00 for that... now after waiting another week (6).. service dept. call me today and said i have metal shaving in my oil/motor they can't figure out why and suggested i get new car!!!!! This review was put on hold for the longest time because I had an open issue that I wanted to make sure was put to bed before I write anything. This review will cover the used car sale process and the post-sale treatment. The TL;DR version: Easiest car sale negotiation process ever with the willingness to fix a problem found after the sales, and to follow through on the promise to reimburse me for parts and installation. YES, despite some issues, I recommend purchasing from Vandergriff Hyundai. At least on the used car side. I'm going to have to say that this was hands down the easiest car buying process that I've ever had. For those of you who's bought a car before, either used or new, then you'd know that the haggling process is a pain in the butt. Well, I live in Houston, TX. Vandergriff Hyundai (VH) is obviously in Arlington, TX. There's a few hundred miles separating me and the dealership so any price negotiation was done over the phone and text. I'd been looking for a car to replace my totaled car. The rental car provided by the insurance company needed to be returned and I still didn't have a car in line. Until I saw a beautiful used Infiniti being sold by VH on a third party website. I called up on a Friday afternoon to get more information and of course, the sales guy on the other end of the phone wanted me to come in for a test drive, etc. Your typical sales pitch. I explained to him that I'm located in Houston and there's not going to be any test drive or any going into the dealership involved. He asked me what it would take for me to come in to the dealership the following day to close the deal. We negotiated over the phone, I made him ONE drive out offer (prices including all taxes and registration) and he told me he'd ask his manager. At this point I thought he was going to pull the old "I'm going to make him wait forever while I go play some candy crush on my phone before telling him that the offer is too low" game, and I told him that I didn't have time for that. He assured me that he was really going to talk to the manager and he did. He came back within minutes and told me I had a deal. That was it. One offer without negotiating back and forth. I drove up to Arlington, TX the following day to close the deal. It was the typical take the car out for a drive, visual inspection, and sign a lot of papers car sales process. They gave me a full tank of gas (I was told typically they only fill up to 8 gallons but I argued that I typically don't drive 300+ miles to buy a car either). During the drive home, I noticed a couple of features that weren't working so when I got back home, I made an appointment with a local dealership (the car is still under manufacturer's warranty) to check the problem. Long story short, there was one part that needed to be replaced and it wasn't covered under warranty. The estimate for the part and installation? A little over $1,200. I called up the dealership and spoke with the used car director, Juan Juerta. I had very little expectation that VH was going to do anything about it because they already had the sale. However, to my surprise, Juan agreed to reimburse me for the cost of the part and the installation. About three months later, after chasing down the part (My car is a Canadian market car and needed a Canadian part which happened to be very rare and had to be imported from Japan) and working with three different dealerships (VH, Southwest Infiniti in Houston, and Downtown Infiniti in Toronto), the problem is fixed and Juan sent me a check for the agreed upon amount that he was going to reimburse me for. I am thoroughly impressed with Juan following through on his word on fixing the problem. Why only four stars instead of a full five stars? I shouldn't have to deal with this issue in the first place. VH should have offered to find the part and purchase it for me instead of me having to hunt this part down and paying out of pocket and then getting reimbursed for it. Ask yourself, if you just purchased a car, is that something you would want to deal with? Over three months? Didn't think so. read more

The sales associative that was assisting us was genuinely great however if you want to use your own financing thru your credit union for example do NOT waste your time coming here. Apparently they let one bad apple of an experience almost two years ago ruin the opportunity for other people who want to utilize their own option of finance. Unfortunately this is likely a tactic to use their own in house financing because they get kickbacks on the back end. We were prepared to purchase a $22,000 vehicle that day with the credit union check in hand that could be cashed that day and they won't do it. Sad part is I have been working with dealership for over a month on finding the right vehicle and they knew we had outside financing but still had us come in and waste our time instead of being upfront and honest. read more

This is a review of the sales department, in particular the internet sales. Asked multiple times for a price and breakdown of the price, was never provided the out the door price or breakdown. When I told them I will be providing my own financing I was told that "Unfortunately, right now because of the current situation that is happening, we cannot accept outside financing." After looking at what seemed like a million trucks that didn't look like the online picture, we saw the exact truck my husband was searching for, we pulled up and were saddened it was over our price range- exhausted from the used car salesman mentality( their job) , we were about to give up . We were greated by Fauzi, a nice young man eager to help- maybe it was a slow day , who knows.. ;-) We were able to purchase the truck/ they met us on a price we could afford. The service area delayed a call to the warranty company that caused me to make several trips to the dealership. When I tried to share my concern, the manager Mo basically cursed me out all while never bothering to make eye contact. He was quite curt and told me I should be happy I had an appointment. I was very offended by the way he spoke to me although I remained calm and didn't engage him. He said he would send the requested information to the warranty co, when I spoke with the warranty company the next day nothing had been done. I was very disappointed in the lack of service I received. I will only hope that someone takes action because I am sure this wasn't the first time he has been both rude and unprofessional. I just wanted to take note that we had a great experience while searching for a SUV this past week, and our Hyundai visit was a nice change from some of the others off I-20. We were greeted by Christopher almost immediately and he was super friendly and nice, wasn't pushy or aggressive like the "typical car salesman" that get a bad rap. He took the time to answer every little, or major question we had regarding the two vehicles we were interested in, and also we test drive both and really liked them both. We ended up deciding to go with a competitor just that had everything in the SUV we were looking for, which had nothing to do with Hyuandai, if ever in future I'm needing to come around and get another vehicle I would stop by this dealership for sure! read more

All the bad reviews here have the same issues and are completely true. We bought a used car and the check engine light came on 2 months after buying the car. We had it towed to another dealership and they were absolutely baffled why we were sold this car because it had so much wrong with it. Brakes were almost gone, 3 different transmission issues, a purge valve that didn't work and the list goes on and on. A 2019 used car we had for 2 months with less than 40k miles and already this many problems. Hard to tell if it's stupidity or maliciousness but regardless STEER CLEAR OF THIS DEALERSHIP AT ALL COSTS. read more

I wish i could give this place zero stars but it's not letting me. I DO NOT recommend this place to my worst enemy. After being lied to for a week and no response and bare minimum communication from the dealership. The salesman gave wrong numbers, their cellphone they don't' answer or respond. When you call the dealership you get transferred to some ones voicemail. When you go up to there to get answers they stick you in a room and leave you for hours. They took my daughters vehicle back because their finance dept screwed and said the manager needed the car on the lot until it's fully funded but the lender asked if we had possession of the car. The finance guy told me i needed to tell the lender we had possession if we wanted our car back so we basically lied and still no vehicle nor answer. We finally got the car back two weeks later. They did not extend the dealers tags and the car had a horrible odor. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone read more

They weren't available for weeks but I scheduled anyway because that's understandable. When my appointment date arrived, they told me they were four weeks behind and would need to keep my vehicle four to five weeks for the diagnostic results (to tell me what is wrong with my car), not including any potential service. None of this information was shared with me six weeks ago when I was scheduling my appointment. I will not ever return and definitely won't recommend. read more
