I have been going to Vanessa nails for over 15 years now. I can say Yen (the owner) is a true artist. She breezes through my acrylics making it look so easy, but I've had enough bad nail jobs from others to know better. She knows my "style" and gives me suggestions when I ask, and knows my moods when I feel talkative or want to be quiet. Her sister Ahn does great pedicures too. Recently moved to Vista, CA and needed to find myself a new nail salon! The first time I stopped in I was not served due to not making an appointment, no big deal- I understood. I scheduled an appointment the same day for later in the day with Anh. She did a great job on my nails but when I got home I compared hands and the nails on one hand were shorter than the other. I also had some nails that were skinny and some that were wide. I filed them myself when I got home to fix the issues. About a week later one of my nails popped off while doing some cleaning at work. I called for a repair appointment but the schedule was pretty full so I just decided to glue my nail back on with some nail glue. I was reluctant to go again for my fill but I didn't feel finding a new place as this salon is 2 mins from my apartment. Two and a half weeks later I needed a fill so I was sure to call and make an appointment a couple days in advance. Just had my appointment with Yen tonight and my nails are incredible! I told her my concerns about how my nails looked last time I was in and she was super sure to make both hands even and the nails uniform shape/width! Also super thrilled with their pricing, very reasonable! Back home I would pay $55 for an acrylic fill with gel polish and this salon is about $20 cheaper!! I will definitely continue to visit this salon! Tips to new clients: Make an appointment a couple days in advance, it's just two ladies running this business so be kind! Also, be very explicit with how your nails are looking! If you don't like them before you go home, have them fix the problem before you leave! read more

Called today for a pedicure, and was able to come in 30 minutes later. Wasn't sure about the place at first based upon certain reviews, but it was close to my house - so I gave it a try! Anh did my pedicure, and she was very thorough and made sure I was relaxed. I got the special pedicure for $25 which included the scrub, mask and massage. Salon is nice & clean and run professionally, although it's a two woman show. Yen is the owner and she does a great job on nails but there is usually only one other person available to do the pedicures. If you and your friend want to walk in and get a pedIcure together, this isn't the ideal place. But if you prefer making appointments and want personalized service, this is definitely where you want to go. And it's nice and quiet, not a lot of hustle and bustle going on. I just moved from LA and needed to find a new place and was very satisfied. The best foot massage I've had in a while and a very good looking manicure and pedicure. Not too many colors to choose from though (might want to bring your own for pedicures if you're particular). I've been going to Yen's salon for 10 years now and really appreciate her skill doing nails. I would not need to write a review as I don't see she needs new business, she is usually booked up for days ahead, so you could take your chances on a drop in, but I'd recommend making an appointment. There have been times when she couldn't fit me in in time for a party I was going to (I have a bad habit of waiting until the last minute) so I'd have to go elsewhere.....I always regret it as no one seems to do as good a job as Yen.
