Stay away from this place. Their customer service is horrible they have no clue what they are selling how to fix it . Checked with them before I bought some bumper guards , they were like it fits just buy it, nope it doesn't fit they find an old model sell it to you and then you stuck. About 3 months ago I purchased a Toyota SR5 Gen5 4Runner and then some accessories for it. A roof rack, side steps and a rear hatch door ladder. I am fully capable of installing these simple items but the winter weather and no place to work prevented me from taking on the task. I found 'Vanguard 4x4' on-line and saw some good reviews so I contacted them about installing the parts listed above. I asked if they were familiar with installing those particular products and if they had experience with Toyota 4Runners. They assured me they had on all counts. I set a date and arrived at the workshop with clearly printed instructions on how to install all the items and links to YouTube videos as well. The side steps were installed ok but the roof rack and ladder were poorly installed. It was clear to me that the installer did not look at the instructions I gave him, he did not listen to my verbal instructions in person nor did he view the YouTube videos. When I got home I noticed the roof rack was so poorly placed it had pushed up against the shark-fin antennae on the roof and caused actual damage to that. I had to go to Toyota to replace the antennae at a cost of $500.00. I returned to Vanguard and met with the manager who was a very good guy. He asked me why I went to Toyota to fix it and not back to Vanguard. I told him I did not want his guys further touching my vehicle. He offered me $200 compensation and said he would have paid the whole amount if I had gone to him first. Then recently, I noticed the rear ladder was rattling and rubbing at the top against the frame of the car. It turns out the installer did not attach the adhesive tape supplied with the installation kit to the upper part of the ladder and so it loosened up and began to move. Also, the lower section of the ladder was mis-aligned and wore through the paint on the hatch door in a small spot. I had to remove the ladder myself and reinstall it correctly - purchaseing new parts for this. I think the manager of Vanguard is a good guy and very accommodating but the installer was awful and should never come near a 4Runner at least - again. For that reason I gave it one star. One star for the manager and zero for the work. I would be very careful before going to Vanguard for work. There are many other alternatives out there. I will never go back there in future. read more

I bought one of their bull bars on eBay this pas winter, for my 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. I did not get a chance to work on it to install it myself since I can only do that outdoor, once the weather is warmer. It turns out the brackets were wrong. I contacted them, they said to send picture. When I took pictures I looked also at the width of the bull bar where it connects to the chassis of the car, and it turns out it is about 2 inches wider as well. So the whole kit does not fit even it is sold and advertised for such car. I sent the pictures and even offered to get them a video (could not send it through eBay mail system) but they did not respond. Sent them 2 other messages, no response, and now they removed the item from eBay so I can't even leave any comment or send more messages regarding that item. I had left another review on google and they responded by asking me to contact them: I contacted them and sent them a video showing the part did not fit, as well as a copy of the paperwork that was included in the item and showing it is for 2011 to 2016 Subaru Crosstrek (my Crosstrek is a 2018) but they never responded. So they are adding insult to injury. Thye show they respond to bad reviews, but they actually do not follow through at all. Definitely very bad business! Watch, they will respond to that review that I need to contact their manager to take care of it, but they won't even follow through if I contact them. These people are not facing issues and do not want to correct them. BAD BUSINESS! BEWARE. Additional info: The above review was left on google (they remove the item from eBay so I can no longer leave feedback. Clever!) Anyway, they keep responding to my reviews on google, giving me their email to contact them, but I sent several emails (before and after I had left my reviews on google) and they don't bother responding to me directly and of course not addressing THEIR mistake. So I just keep leaving reviews wherever I can: the public has to know which businesses to trust: it's one thing dealing with people when everything goes well, it's a very different thing when things don't. So be warned, if you are dealing with this business, pray that everything goes well. And by the way, in my very first email, I just asked that they send me the correct brackets, and I even offered to pay for them, just to keep things simple. Go figure! I wasn't planning on any service, just shopping around for prices on equipment. I was extremely impressed and happy with the greeting and professionalism I've received just upon opening their doors. The staff was so helpful and knowledgeable and their prices were like family prices. The office and staff was also in MINT CONDITION, and all well protected with masks. Social distancing was taken seriously here. They're really affordable and reasonable. These guys don't cheat their customers. They'll treat you like family here. They'll go the extra miles, because they care about their customers!! I had Running Boards, Front & Back Bumpers done with them. All affordable and I left extremely satisfied! Anyway, this was my last email to them, in response to a review left on Google. I will mark VO for their part of the message, and R for my reply to that particular part. R: Ah, I see that you respond very quickly to bad reviews on google, but you ignore direct emails, but I'll take time to rebut your google response since I cannot do that on those comment. So here is what you wrote as a response to my second comment: VO: "Hello, Eric! We definitely reply to either good or bad reviews..." R: Yes you do, but again, you respond to no direct emails. I have sent multiple messages, with multiple photos of the wrong part I received, also a video as well as a copy of your own paperwork describing the part so show you sent me the wrong one and that it did not match what you had advertised on eBay. So please allow me to doubt your statement. VO: We stay honest with any of our customers. As your case is handled by another team, I am not aware of the status of your latest message. R: I can see that "honest" has a different meaning to different people. As far as my case being handled by a different team, that is always convenient to blame other people, especially when ALL your comment replies have no name, no "team" listed. I has responded by direct email to the email address you had given in the reply to my first bad review, yes, I did NOT get ANY response. So again, please allow me to doubt your statement. VO: As far as I know, we had relisted all our listings on eBay for a full catalog upgrade. Thus, we are definitely not doing this just for one single angry customer. R: I honestly don't care AT ALL that you "relisted" all your items. How is that relevant to the fact that you sent me the wrong part, that you do not answer my messages, and that you are still doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to correct YOUR mistake? And I also don't care what you do for other angry customers, but I am not surprised at all that you DO have other angry customers, as per your own words. VO: Besides, I saw you mentioned at the beginning of your reply that you have purchased in 2020 but had waited until 2021 to install? Could you also share the exact length of period that you had waited? R: You saw that I mentioned I purchased the part in 2020. Well, you saw WRONG. I purchased that in January of this year. If you just took the time to just look into this, you would have found my records. And as I explained in one of my MANY emails, I am a DIY person and could not work on my car because I have to do it outside so winter is not a good time. So yes, I did wait a few months. Again, if you had cared to look at my records when I sent the first of my MANY emails, you would not have to ask any of these questions. But I guess you like to waste my time too, right! VO: Our standard return policy has stated: "within 14 days". Almost all of our customers think 14 days is long enough to evaluate satisfaction. R: Does your "standard return policy" cover YOUR OWN mistake too? I don't care what your other customers think about it. VO: However, I can understand that you have to wait for an appropriate warm weather to install. R: Thank you so much for your "understanding". Now, do you UNDERSTAND that it was YOUR mistake that I am complaining about? VO: I will inform my colleague to help you re-evaluate your eligibility for a return or other applicable remedies. R: OK, let's pass the buck to someone else now... Another one who's gonna want all the info, pictures, videos, etc... from me again, to "re-evaluate" the issue and "other remedies". NO: you got everything already, DO SOMETHING NOW. And by the way, in my very first email, all I asked was for you to send me the correct brackets, and I even OFFERED TO PAY for them: I did not mind because I wanted to keep it easy, THAT WAS ALL I ASKED!  So you really missed an opportunity to make even more money of me. This shows me that your business either does not give a damn about customers, or that it is run by complete idiots. Your pick. Anyway, just in case you still have a remnant of common sense and care left somewhere, here is what I would wish for: you send me the correct bull bar with correct brackets for my 2018 Subaru Crosstrek, with a return label, and in exchange I will repack the wrong part that you had sent to me in January with the same material, the same way and in the same box, and ship it back to you. I will take all that time, including bringing it to the nearest Fedex (or UPS) depot to reship it, free of charge! And the only answer I will need at this point is your confirmation and the tracking number for that replacement part you are sending to me.
