Yvonne did my makeup for a wedding I'm in and she's amazing. I was calling everywhere trying to find someone that could help and places were booked. When I called, the woman that answered the phone told me she would check with their makeup artist and give me a call to let me know. I heard back from her in less than 5 minutes (amazing!) I was trying to go from dark hair to light hair so I tried this place because of the good reviews. 1. I had multiple sessions and it got uglier each time (someone else was able to fix the mess they left in just 3 hours). 2. They double booked for one of my appointments so they made me come back another day (after I had missed a day of work for this) 3. It was very expensive. They do get one star because they tried to be nice, but I didn't pay for that. I paid for a job that they didn't do, very disappointed at all the money I had to dish out and all the time I wasted. read more

Two weeks ago I scheduled an appointment for a cut and color with Olympia. When I called she tried to push the appointment on to her sister but I insisted I wanted the appointment with her. The day of the appointment I had my husband get off work early to pick up our 5month old from the sitter. As soon as I got off work in Santa Fe Springs I rushed to make my appointment in time. I arrived 5min late and when I got there Olympia was still with a client. I waited 20min for her to finish. Finally in the chair, she asks me what I want. When I tell her I want a balayage ombré she tells me she doesn't have time because she overbooked herself. She had 2 gentleman coming in an hour! After apologizing she offers to reschedule my appointment for another date with her sister! Really?!!!! Very inconsiderate and unprofessional! Never again! read more

I've been going to Olimpia for about six years. She always cuts my hair perfectly, and her prices are unbelievably low. Oly always listens to what I want, but also will warn me if my hair isn't going to look the way I envision it... and she's always right. Even after a few months of growth, my haircut still holds up. The salon isn't super fancy or trendy with complimentary beverages and snobby sensibilities. Instead it's professional, warm and down-to-earth. It seems the salon cuts out the unnecessary extras to provide the best haircuts and blow outs in town at amazing prices. Plus, there's a great selection of professional hair products (shampoos, styling product). My guy started going to her a few months ago, and he hasn't looked back. I even cheated on her once, and Olimpia still took me back without laying on the guilt. Just one word of caution, if you want a Saturday appointment, book a week or even two in advance. read more

Lilia just gave me one of the best cuts of my life. (Yknow the kind where you don't get anything done the rest of the day, cuz you keep stopping to vogue in front of the mirror.) They really take the time out to listen to you, hear what your going for, and give guidance about your type of hair. These sisters are really sweet people. They aren't pushy, they didn't rush me, and really considered my personal needs. And my hair actually looks more full and flattering than it ever has. They understand hair. She didn't look at one of the reference pics I had that clearly won't look that way with my type of hair, and just try to do it anyway. She got the style of it and adapted to my hair type, recreating the vibe of it. I've had plenty of stylists just decide what they think is best and disregard what I was trying to ask for. That usually ends in regret, tears, and french fries. So grateful, as I think this is one of the first times I've felt like this cut will wear well in my daily life, and not just only look good the day it was styled by a professional. Dennis is a great listener and a wonderful artist-he knows just where to cut and where to add a lil something to my wavy hair. I have to say that Joseph is AWESOME! I've gone twice now for cut and color and he does wonders with hair. For the color I want a natural look and he gives me that with mild highlights. Love it! As for the cut, I have curly hair and he is able to work with my mop. I also like that he takes the time to provide information on how to use tools and products to help me get my hair looking like he gets it. Of course, he does a much better job than I do, but it now I know great techniques for straightening my hair if I want, or to get the most out of my curly locks. I get so many compliments when I leave his shop that I feel 10 feet tall. Being only 5 feet tall, I think that's saying alot! I had black hair, and was wanting to switch to the popular light ombre. They told me it would take a few sessions which I already knew, and had no problem with. I had 3 sessions, all lasting over 6 hours. (By the way they overbooked for my 2nd session so they made me return another day) After the 3rd session and about $600 later, my hair was as ugly as ever (wish I knew how to post pictures so I could show you). I was so sad/mad that my hair looked so atrocious after all the money and time I spent there, I cried and decided it was time to try a different salon. This other girl fixed my hair in LESS THAN THREE HOURS - 1 SESSION. Can I just say that Olimpia, the owner of the salon, just gave me the Brazilian Blowout and my hair looks and feels amazing! I was a little skeptical that this treatment could help my often times puffy and frizzy hair but it lived up to the hype. My long hair has an unbelievable shine and it only takes me 15-20 minutes to do vs 45. So the real test is when you have a girls night out and your crew lets you know if they approved. Joseph at Vanguardia is amazing! What I really love is that he is really careful about listening and educating. He talked to me for a long time to be sure he understood what I wanted and he gave me exactly that. Also, he took the time to talk to me while he was styling my hair to teach me how I would be able to do it better myself. I always feel great when I leave the salon and wait as long as possible to wash my hair again because I can never get my hair to look the way they do, but Joseph is teaching me and every time I do it myself now I'm getting closer to feeling almost as fabulous as I do when he does it for me.
