I learned of Sharrion James Salon on a Nextdoor recommendation & although I had an appmt elsewhere I thought next time.... Well the other Salon was unable to do what I requested and I walked out. I called Sharrion James Salon explained my request AND that I was traveling in a few days for my Birthday & Christmas events - HELP! The gal that answered was very kind and assigned Maggie to the task. My request was to begin a transition to gray as I was growing tried of coloring every 3 +/- weeks I had a dark brown color right now. Maggie was able to fit me in THE SAME DAY 6pm! When I arrived I thought the Salon was closed and she surely made a mistake of saying 6pm - Nope! Maggie welcomed me in, reviewed my hair, explained the process and went to work! I had never done anything like this and put my trust in her experience and recommendations... OH MY GOD I could not believe how BEAUTIFUL my hair came out! Wedding Hair and Makeup. Sharrion is wonderful!!! For my wedding, she made me look and feel more beautiful than I thought I could. We met the week before the wedding for a consultation, at which we decided on hair styling and makeup styling. Sharrion took great care to make sure I was completely happy with my look and also, she made sure my look was complimentary to the style of my dress and veil. On the day of the wedding, she performed her magic, and I went through my day feeling and looking my absolute best. Both my hair and makeup held up flawlessly to an outdoor (windy) ceremony, lots of hugs (and tugs at my veil), and several hours of my reception party. Due to the economy, I stopped getting my hair cut at a "real" salon to save money. When I started working again, I tried out a few salons but was having trouble finding a stylist I was comfortable with and also where I wouldn't be paying an arm and a leg every time I got my hair cut or colored. A friend recommended I see Randy and I'm so grateful! I went in the first time to get an updated cut and a few highlights. I loved Randy's work so much that I went all in - blond for the summer! He did an amazing job, and I was very happy with my new 'do'. As summer ended, I decided I wanted to tone my hair down and gradually go back to a darker color. Before I could even tell Randy what I was thinking, he told me that he was thinking I should go a little darker. We were in sync! He has been cutting and coloring hair for years and knows what works. I always walk out so happy with my cut and color! Whenever I call the salon to make an appointment, I am greeted by their very pleasant receptionists. They work with me and my schedule and are always helpful. There is always parking (a luxury in Long Beach) and the salon always seem to be busy with customers when I'm there. Even with the busy salon, schedules are managed very well and I always seem to get in right on time. I explained to Lois, the stylist, that most often the perm solution was left on for the recommended time and by then My hair was kinky curly. Lois took the time to check and recheck frequently during the curling time. She stopped the curling process before any frizzing occurred. Not only that, she wrote down the product name, type of curl I requested' and how long it took. Now I get the perfect perm every time. I don't have any idea about their hair and nails, other than that their clientele seems to be on the older side of suburbia. But I have gone there for electrolysis many times. Deidee is very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. She works at a good pace and minimizes the damage. My old electro used to leave my swollen and scared for a couple days, but with her I can go out in public within an hour after the appointment. Her equipment is not state of the art, but it works perfectly as intended, and just as well as any of the new machines i have been tortured with. And her rate is very fair. read more

I went to rose for roots and gray coverage. I thought she was mixing the colors and she comes back with a bottle of hair color that seemed to have bought a the market. The box color. Been looking for a professional hair salon and after Rose box color burned my scalp and straighten my hair, with a burning hot straighter I will never go back. My scalp was burning so were my eyes from the hair color. Also my forehead ears and neck was black from the hair color I had chunks of Haircolor all over. She didn't even bother to clean me. When I left I smelled like burnt chemicals. I could have done all this at home. I think it's important to post real stuff on yelp. Rose is very nice but as a hair stylist and color not sure what products she uses. After my wash she did not use any products on my hair. I was so stressed by the time I walked out. I thought my sensitive scalp was going to fall off. I think most of the reviews here are written by the very older clients who don't care what is used on their hair. read more
