I recently visited Vanowen Car Wash after seeing their large sign advertising a wash for $16.99. However, the small print underneath (which is barely noticeable) states that the price only applies on Tuesdays and "for most cars." I went on a Monday, and when I pulled in, I was told it would be $21.99 instead. I have been to this place several times and each time I was hoping the service will get better as I really wanted to give businesses the chance to make it right with their customers. Unfortunately, each time is the same service - quick hand-off in the front, the wait is about 30-40 minutes for a regular carwash $22.99 plus extra for cross over cars so we paid $26 plus $5 tip so we paid $30 for regular and half done wash! AVOID THIS PLACE! ACCIDENTS HAPPEN! I'd been coming to this car wash on and off for the last 6 years. Never had a problem. Until today, that is. I took advantage of the Wednesday Special, which is now $14.99 for a basic wash, vacuuming, etc. For my small SUV it was $16.99. Plus a $5 tip (moron that later....pun intended.) I don't always use a professional car wash. About half the time, I'll do it at home. But today, I decided to take the car in for a wash. After the service person was finished, he waved me over to get my car. I noticed a few rather obvious bird splats on the sun roof. Plus another bird splat on another part of the roof as I started to scrutinize a little more. This is the kind of stuff that is included in the basic wash. Trust me, I know the difference between unavoidable watermarks vs the kind of stuff that should be gone when I pay for a carwash (dirt smudges, bird poop, etc.) These guys must be under a time limit per car because he abruptly stopped finishing my car and went to work on another. (Really?) This used to be a decent place. Even more troubling is that the manager and then the owner of the place also got on me because I had only paid to have the basic wash. Um, yeah. It is the basic wash. And the minor finishes I'd pointed out are included in that price. So anyway, the service guy had moved on to the next car. Rather than get huffy, march around, and make speeches, I decided to tip the guy anyway. So I went to give him the $5 tip which I usually give. He flat turned it down. I explained that he'd earned it, it's 5 bucks, why not take it? He said no thank you. I insisted. He still said no. OK. I kept the tip and drove off, still with a couple splats on the car that should've been covered in the basic wash. Meanwhile, in another area of their premises, I watched as a nice lady got the front end of her car crunched because the cars are parked too close together in their lot. The customer that backed into her car probably wasn't paying attention as he tried to move his car. And his radio was probably on the loud side. But this could have been avoided altogether if the owner and manager of the place were doing their jobs. Sadly, customer service is no longer the name of the game here. My windshield and driver side window looked like it was wiped down with chicken grease. I couldn't see sh-t out of my windows.. I thought my windows needed to be defrosted because of how foggy they were but nope!!! It was the horrible job they did cleaning it. They must've used a dirty towel with Armor All to clean my windows. Unbelievable. Needless to say, I had to clean them myself and it wasn't an easy job to do. Let's not forgot...all the stuff in my center console went missing within the 75mins it took them to only clean the outside of my car. I've been coming here for years and I always have had a gold experience. I come for simple car washes, leather conditioning, or detailing. I have always had a suburb wash inside and out. They are pretty fast too. First they vacuum, then send it through the wash machine, then finish with the hand wash. Don't forget the custom scent that you can choose. read more

But unfortunately being greeted by a manager who immediately says to you: "I should've charged you double" after calling you and saying "we can't do the job so we'll refund you and then calling back saying "we can get it done" was all ........... very confusing to say the least. Sure I understand that removing a wrap is difficult and not their normal job but they accepted it. Then called and said they can't do it. No problem I completely understood. But then to call again and say you will get it done only to say you should've charged me more?! The owner is so rude, and the staff is unprofessional. I have been going there because I have a big car, and many car washes can't wash it because of its size, so I had no choice. After two-plus years, I am done with them. They broke my windshield viper, and the owner yelled at me instead of apologizing; they left my car dusty and dirty. I always paid extra for rims and tires and spent a minimum of $5.00, with a total wash of $45.00 - $50.00. I tried to show it to the owner, but he said they are not supposed to do it, and if I don't like it, I should go to a different car-wash, all I can say is "Grait customer service". Conclusion: I found a mobile car wash guy who will come over and wash it for the same money at your place. Since I have two more cars, they gave me a discount for the other two cars.
