Stopped by to look for bánh chưng and bánh tét, and they had plenty! Mine were still warm, so I know they were freshly prepared. Also picked up some chả lụa and dưa món. They also have vegetarian options on the items mentioned above from what I remember if you are looking for that. The ladies at the register were so nice. They were giving away red reusable bags for lunar new year with your purchase. My only critique is that the one bánh chưng I opened so far didn't have quite as much pork as I hoped for, but I'll see how the others I bought look. Our wedding caterer contracts with Van's Bakery, so we got our wedding cake here, and it was fantastic! I called the bakery a few weeks before our wedding to do a cake tasting, and on the phone, the girl helping me let us select three flavors to try (you can also try additional flavors, for an additional fee). We ended up picking pandan, mocha, and fresh strawberry. When we got to the bakery for our tasting, we were brought out three generous slices of cake in the three flavors we selected. Honestly, I think all the flavors were great. The cream was light and not too sweet, the cake itself was moist and airy, and all the flavors were on point. We ended up picking strawberry for our entire 3 tier cake, but they also gave us the option to do different flavors for different tiers, which we thought was neat! They also had a photo album of different cake designs that they have done in the past, which was super helpful since we didn't know what we wanted our cake to look like when we initially walked into the bakery. The whole process from start to finish was quick and easy, and the girls that helped us (I really wish I could remember their names!) were so sweet and efficient. We loved the cake so much that we asked them to pack up the leftovers for us to finish at home, haha! On our wedding day, our cake looked just like the picture we selected, and I had several guests tell me after the wedding how much they loved the cake! I'm a fan! I love getting pastries here in conjunction with getting drinks from Cococane. I love their pandan coconut cake, the durian was okay. I've had an assortment of snacks from here, savory and sweet and all have been tasty. If there is a mochi thing, GET IT. It was so goood. I think it was black sesame with a mung bean filling. I Seriously cannot boast about Van's bakery enough! The Staff is so so sweet and helpful. I texted early morning for an order and it was ready by 2pm. I Gave a brief description of what I was looking for and again, they did AMAZING! The cake itself is so so fluffy , soft and yummy. Last week we were in the Broohkurst area and wanted to try visiting Van's Bakery to see what kinds of cake they had. My sister wanted a My Little Pony cake for her birthday and when we asked the sales associate for it, she said they had it. Great! We looked at their different My Little Pony cake design and my sister picked which one she liked. We asked the sales associate for the price and after calculating she said it would be 65 dollars for a 2-tier cake with My Little Pony Toys. It was a great and affordable cake but it was too big so we said we would think about it and be back. We came back 3 days later and we talked to a different person about the cake. She said that for the 2-tier cake itself, without any toys or decoration, it would be 60 dollars. We questioned her but after she explained and showed us the price of everything, we just let it pass and assumed that the other sales associate probably made a mistake. So since the 2-tier cake was too big anyway, we ordered a one-tier cake with the same design as the top tier of the original design. The person we were talking to said that the cake would be 30 dollars and the toys will be 25 dollars. She even made sure that they still had my little pony toys in stock. We agreed on the price, paid 55 dollars, and left happy. Today, we went in to get the cake we ordered, however my parents found out they forgot about the my little pony toys (our main reason for even getting the cake in the first place). They checked at the back and said they ran out of the toys. We said okay...just give us back the 25 dollars. THEY REFUSED!!! After arguing more, they said they would give us back 10 dollars....WE PAID 25 FOR THE TOYS!! My parents were pissed and would not agree on that. They then said they would give back 15 dollars. Since the whole time my baby sister was yelling for them to stop arguing, my parents gave up on arguing with stupid and unreasonable people. We left with the cake and 15 dollars and will never come back. At home when my sister saw the cake she even cried cause it wasn't even a my little pony cake...it was just blue icing and clouds WHICH COSTS US 40 DOLLARS! SCREW YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS! My husband tried ordering a birthday cake for me the other day. He called at first to confirm if they were able to make the order. He ordered a specific kind of cake and the lady said it was doable. However, when he called back to make the actual order. He got hung up on. He then called back and spoke to a different lady and said that they couldn't make the cake he wanted. She told him that those flavors would not go good together. Now, if my husband is making a cake order the way i like it, why should she question it? I don't know about other Van's bakery location, but this location has been consistently good! We usually get their pandan leaf coconut cake (green cake with coconut slices inside. It is soooo good! It is such a Vietnamese cake but it is so good! Light, fluffy, spongy, not too sweet but just right, and the coconut slices are just right and fresh! They also have tons of other Viet snacks inside the store. Their spicy dried squid is comparable to Vua Kho Bo, for $20 a bag. read more

I grew up getting a birthday cake every year from this bakery and it doesn't disappoint. For my moms 70th birthday, I decided to order a big full sheet sized fruit tart. I called in advance since they ask for three days minimum notice. I locked up the cake and it looked beautiful - however when it was cut for serving, it was not fresh at all. It was definitely made too many days in advance of the pick up date. The cake was not only soggy but just didn't taste fresh. What a big disappointment. Bought banh tet here for my wife. They used a lot of banana leaves and the wrapping was bad. The rice was also not packed tight and fell apart when cutting into it. When tasting it had a sour taste to it. So we threw it away. Banh gio was good better then other places. read more
