This place is so unique and amazing. If you see a long line don't be discouraged because I promise you it's worth the wait. It's not an extensive menu - especially till spring (April) when they open the sweet shack that has hand dipped corn dogs on the menu that we're looking forward to. At the main burger shack, I got the fair burger no cheese add bacon with an order of onion rings and my husband got the big Pete double burger. I don't know if I've ever had a better burger. They were Both possibly the best burgers we've ever had in a "fast food" setting. Better than at fancier dine in or take out places too. I found out about this little gem of a burger shack on FB when someone asked for the best burger and rings in the area. All the usual suspects who have decent burgers to be sure were recommended in the answers as well as this Van's (of which is never heard) that kept popping up regularly. They aren't open a lot of days or hours and their structures are not impressive (except for the magical quality of the food they put out) and they are a little off the beaten path but sooo good. The burgers were juicy and delicious. Gotta be high quality ingredients there. Attention to details is there for sure. The little bit of crunch on the grilled bun made them perfect and the rings were quite simply heavenly. They have a nice house fry/ring/thousand sauce that went nicely with the crispy crunchy tender onion rings. Thanks for the great meals and friendly made to order service. I got the big Pete burger but with out pickles and a side of fries. The burger was delicious and made just the way I like it with sauce ,onions , lettuce and tomato . I would of liked mustard on it but I did not think it at the time of ordering. The fries reminded me of the type of rippeled frozen fries you can get at a store , but these ones were not limp like most fries they were firm and a little crunchy just the way I prefer. I am told that they have some good oinon rings, I will have to try them next time. The big Pete toy in playarea out front brought back some memories of my childhood but if a diffrent food place. read more

I live a few minutes from Vans and finally had it for the first time. I don't eat meat so I can't give a thorough review. However, the food we did have was pretty good. I had a grilled cheese and fries. The fry sauce is really good. My son does eat meat and likes the burgers. My only issue is it took 90 minutes for him to wait in line to get the food. Good thing is he was the one who waited. I was between a 3 or 4 on the rating because of how long he had to wait. I have a 4 because I didn't think they should be dinged because the food was good. I'll give them: friendly service and a fairly quick line, but that's all I can do. The burger was grey. GREY. While it may have reached 165 degrees, their method of cooking was not one that resulted in any sort of appearance of done. The flavor matched the appearance. It was dripping with grease and while I am no anti-grease girl, I am anti-straight up melted grease and no flavor. It was as if the burger was steamed in its own grease rather than hitting a raging hot flat top. I assume this was due to the rush to make orders. The burger sauce was also pretty flavorless but it could be that I was so in tune with the grey burger that nothing was working for me. Onion rings were... factory onion rings. I'm going to assume that my experience was due to the Friday evening rush, because I can't imagine that this many reviewers, and my friend, could be so dead wrong. If I visit again, I will ask for a charred burger, and hope that I get something in between grey and black. read more

The Van's Burger burger is what most people imagine with they picture a classic American Hamburger in their mind. Ingredients are fresh. The service is so friendly its silly, literally sometimes - the best. We moved to the area to be with family that's been here decades, many of whom don't know when this place is open, many of whom had never even been here. I've tried the other recommendations in town and there are some good ones... but not *as* good. Don't you know... They're *never* open. I guess we'll just keep *not* going and *not* getting stuffed silly with deliciousness. (snicker) P.s. That butter/griddled bun - it makes the burger.
