I've only ever come here for the Sweet Cheeks cabaret and would never come here otherwise. I miss when they used to perform at 49th State Brewing as it was better in every aspect. Last time I visited I ordered the "spicy" chicken tenders which were just cooked frozen tenders soaked in buffalo sauce which made the soggy. The fries were okay. The cocktails were some of the worst I've ever had. I ordered a double blueberry spritz which just tasted like watered down blueberry lemonade. Not worth the $18 at all. Better to stick to beer here. The server was fine but when I paid the default tip was 30% which is outrageous and the highest default tip I've seen anywhere. I'm all for tipping generously but the service and ambiance are not at all worth that high of a percentage. read more

We were here a year ago, and loved it, and here we are again. And, we're here for a similar reason: other places were absurdly busy. And, again, we're happy we ended up here. There was only 1 person tending bar and waiting on tables when we sat down, but a second person arrived, and things picked up. Again, the service was decent once the order was placed. They forgot my son's fries until the end of the order, but they comped us. But, no tater tots this time, damn it. But, the fries were crispy and tasty. We opened with soft pretzel rods, which were served hot with a cheese sauce. Good stuff. I decided to deviate from my "always order fish" rule for Alaska, so I opted for the chimichuri steak bowl. The beef was nicely seasoned, but over cooked. The mango chunks are a nice touch, and I did eat the whole thing, but it was less amazing than the comparable salmon bowl. One of my favorites. Probably "qualifies" as a dive bar, but that may send an incorrect image of this gem. The staff is awesome, twenty four "on Tap" selections. A lot of hard liquor choices, but if it requires a blender--refer to its name--if it requires a blender... "they're out of that." We were pleasantly pleased while we walked in & met one of the owners with a wealth of knowledge about his history in Anchorage. While talking to this man he promotes concerts in Anchorage & to find out he puts on the Back Yard BBQ Events that we just went to last week which I might say was Fricken Fabulous!! To get back to The Broken Blender this place is clean & friendly in saying that we will be coming back for some appetizers. We went here on a Wednesday night. We both had kind of mixed feelings. The ambiance is almost exactly the same as the Matanuska Brewing location it has replaced. The main thing you'll notice is that it is very, VERY loud. There were not many people when we were hear, and we were at the verge of shouting to understand each other. Not necessarily a bad thing if you're looking for somewhere rowdy, but just something to note. The main selling point of this spot is that they have affordable cocktails, and I can happily report that they definitely do! We both got different margaritas, and we both thought they were decent. However, we both realized we weren't really margarita people and aren't really fare judges of quality. I just saw "mezcal" (a smoky favorite) and immediately ordered. They were definitely on the sweet side, and the price was definitely right! While the cocktails don't have the double-digit sticket-shock, they were also pretty common cocktails. Again, not saying it's good or bad, just don't expect anything too weird or out-of-the-ordinary! The taps: that is an aspect I am very disappointed in. I wish they had more from our smaller, craftier breweries: Turnagain Arm, Girdwood, Anchorage Brewing Company, Cynosure and less from our massive ho-hum breweries: Alaskan Brewing, King Street, Denali. Most of what is on tap here is what you could get at a mediocre Oakenkeg or Brown Jug location. For food, I got the blender burger and it was amazing! A fantastic melding of flavors, one of the better burgers I've had. However, unlike the cocktails, the price was quite high at $14...and it was ala carte. We did get an order of tater tots to share and to The Broken Blender's (TBB) credit, the portion was great for 2-people and these were also the best tots I've ever had in Anchorage. They had a made-from-scratch feel that no other tots in town have! TBB is definitely worth trying if anything above sounds appealing. If they get some more local-focused taps, I will definitely return for a beer and a burger! read more

So fun!! This rebranded and new ownership of a bar is up and running and killing it. We had Caroline as our waitress and I would recommend you asking for her. The tomato bisque soup was fire ! The burgers and sliders were great with a nice blend of flavors and the charcuterie board were awesome as well. The loaded tots did not disappoint. Drinks were a great pour also. My daughter took me here for Mothers Day brunch for the Sweet Cheeks Cabaret. It was down stairs of the bar and it was perfect to me the food was okay nothing home to write about, but who was there for the food??? The show started and i was hooked. This was something I have wanted to do for a long time and my daughter knew that. Everyone in the show was amazing! The talent the music and the company made it the best Mother's Day I've ever had. After a few moments the bartender dropped us off two menus and let us know the drinks are listed on the tv. Having looked at the menu online I was looking forward to the pork belly sliders. The service here is great, Caroline was our server on both visits and did an awesome job. The drinks are made well. The food was a little underwhelming. They started strong with some great fried cheese sticks. Those were delicious. The burger was a little lacking. The toppings and bun were good, but the meat patty was small and tasted like it had been in the freezer a little too long. I'd gladly pay a little extra for better beef. This place became a home away from home during a long work trip. I was in charge of about 25 ppl and we regularly went over to have some drinks and food. We hit all the attractions. Trivia, poker, burlesque, and karaoke. The bartender Jo was always welcoming and took care of all of us like family. This location is definitely trying their hardest amidst having a lack of staffing, but does have some things that could up the game. The events they host are great, but getting service is difficult at times and slow. The individuals are definitely trying their hardest to attend everyone but naturally with large events and activities it's easier said than done. As a patron I'd recommend ordering all at once and closing out early when an option presents itself. Know what you want and order quickly to help staffing and your experience. There were three of us at the table. when the bar tender was confronted and the manager was asked for the bar tender was the manager and she said she did that on purpose. Sitting at the Bar and ordered a popular draft beer on July 3rd (Holiday weekend) and they ran out literally half way through my glass. Rather than saying "drink on this until we get the keg changed out" (no more beer) , it literally just sat there under the tap. I also asked 4 "FOUR" times for a menu and never got that either. CRAP service and this restaurant won't last long just like everyone else that been there with the staff that they have. . Terrible service. So we accidentally spilled a drink at our table on the patio. When a bartender came to clean it up, she decided to tip our table over so the drink dripped off onto the floor. We mentioned we didn't really want liquid at our feet, but the damage was already done. She rudely responded by saying she only had one rag so she had to pour some on the floor, and that we could go somewhere else if we didn't like that. Well, we should've taken her advice and gone somewhere else, but we specifically came here to play trivia. Well too bad! Trivia was "full". How does trivia even get full? Apparently they only allow 20 teams. And we got there early. Oh well. We stayed despite both of these things (our fault) and we were disappointed in the food, too. Upstairs it's OK foods greasy but you know it's a little dive bar..It's not like it used to be back in the day when it was named something else. Kind of smells like cat pee in there specially down in the basement where we went to go see sweet cheeks. My family and I stopped in to have our family dinner - it was our first time there and in AK .... The place was nice and our waitress was sweet and it was her first night - we ordered the following Mac and cheese Soup - tomato with fried cheese A plain cheese burger with bacon and only lettuce Chicken sandwich Plus each of my kids ( 2) and myself Ordered tots and one order of fries What do you think we got - One tot The hamburger had onions tomatoes and Mayo The chicken was cold and tasted frozen My soup tasted burnt I am assuming it was the cheese called fried - it was I tried to eat it My son asked for nothing on his burger!!!! He received everything including mayo as I said - I got our waitress and requested for a nee burger. She went to the window and told the cook - he totally had an attitude as I watched him! He made a new one and again- Mayo on the damn burger again!!!! Plus we did not get our fries till my son dissected his over cooked burger that he could not even eat. We thru it out To say this was a disappointment is an understatement. The only positive was our waitress and her kindness. To end our night she defended the cook - she should not have done that- he did not read her notes twice! $72 bill was not worth it at all. We stopped here about 5:45pm on a Saturday to get a snack before heading to the park strip for the Craft Beer Festival Summer Edition. Before reaching the entrance we could see their outdoor seating was completely full. I figured there should be no reason we wouldn't be in and out just quickly grabbing a few things from the bar. Boy was I wrong. This place is definitely divey. Upon entering they had a sign that said they were having problems with their CC machine so you had to pay cash or use their ATM. You were asked to seat yourself. They have lots of cocktails and they are very reasonably priced at $7. I ordered their drunken ocean water cocktail and my spouse had a panty peeler off tap. We also ordered a single order of appetizer wings. We immediately noticed the star of the Broken Blender team was their one and only bartender who seemed to be doing a ton of multi-tasking in addition to trying to motivate team members. He was doing his best to be professional but anyone able to read between the lines could tell he was overworked and over it. He was accommodating but his tone was one of irritation. Many workers came behind the bar discussing personal matters, interactions with other customers, and wiping off their dripping sweat in plain view. It wasn't a professional environment. At one point a customer who sat towards the back came to the bar to let them know she had been there awhile and hadn't been served yet. Very awkward and cringe during some moments. The place had a weird smell and wasn't the cleanest. I wanted our wings so we could leave. After being done with our drinks for 5ish or so minutes I ask the overwhelmed bartender if someone could check on them. They came out shortly after that completely over salted. We had to order more drinks just to take them down. Skipped the cocktail this time and tried a pineapple cider on tap made by a local brewery. It was light and perfect. We quickly paid cash and left. My spouse and I had a mini argument over the $20 tip I left. I honestly just felt bad for the bartender. I don't plan to return here. read more
