The comment made me a bit nervous to settle a contract -- and I told Dave to please pay attention to the wiring in the attic (which was my concern). After the AMAZING experience my family had with KinTech, I wanted to leave my first-ever comment on Yelp for Dave and his company. I am not an easy customer :). KinTech is a local Long Island company and its service (both its job and customer service) felt local/neighborly. When Dave (the somewhat hard-to-believe soft-voiced manager I had talked to on the phone) stopped by for the estimate visit, my wife and I were taken aback positively for his relaxed, friendly dealing (he had a new kind of tea with us :), while sharing details and options). In response to our situation of having already dumped too much money on prior upgrades, he found an affordable configuration for our transition from baseboard heating only to central heating/cooling, including the latest tech and conveniences. But our 5 stars are not just for the quality of mateiral and work and the professionalism of the people who came in our house (Dave sent the most friendly pair of men we've had working in the house). Dave is different. Dave communicated in the most professional and friendly way among maybe 20 contractors we've worked with in the past decade on Long Island as home owners (he reminded us of the genteel South, without the occasional lack of experience with diverse customers LOL). We didn't sense any dishonesty (very common in most home repair/service businesses esp. up here in New York) and that made us very comfortable with Dave. He did ask for a few extra days when he had to juggle different projects, including his gramdma's house that needed urgent attention. But he didn't play games with us, didn't treat us like however the "market demand tells" (as one contractor blurted out recently), and he LISTENED. This guy is something. Give him a chance, and if the project at our home was an exception, share a different perspective. The project was finished on time, pitch perfect, and Dave said he's even willing to come back and calibrate the air flow and add an extra vent. We were already surprised when he sent his guys to double check and clean up. So, I guess customers should communicate our demands and give hard working people a chance to rectify small things after they do all the major and difficult work right (it's a different matter if someone messes up major things or uses a generally problematic approach). As a Long Islander, it makes me proud to see people like this reflect our culture -- not the weirdos especially of the older generation who take customers for granted (I've come across a bit too many of those, including among the younger business owners). I would love to see KinTech grow and to maintain the very, very, very friendly professionalism that Dave has established. 100% NOT SATISFIED per their advertising, I paid for yearly tune-ups on Oct 26th and work was done…read moreNov 4th for maintenance on our two oil burners. Water and heater. Same day they had to come back, no heat, they claimed vapor lock in oil line. So I guess at the very least if was not even checked to see if it was running. I was not there, we let them in, I can only see from cameras and Nest thermostat. I live in California. So no one has been there for months. I can monitor the heat, but I could not monitor all the oil that was flying all over the place and into the ducts and insulation. It was a mess. We arrive at the house to find it smelling of heating oil. I found oil all over the floor and called. They did send someone out. He told me the O-ring for the jet needed to be replaced. It had been blowing oil ALL winter long, ducts were full of oil. It was a mess. He came on Friday and told me someone will contact me on Monday. He said it would take a day to clean up all the oil and is not covered by maintenance agreement. NO one called me after that. I ran to the store and bought bags of kitty littler. Picked up a lot but it was soaked in everywhere. I tried hot water and Landry soup and wet vacuum. I think at least 500 gallons over and over. By the 3rd day realize it was never going to be gone in any reasonable time. We were all having headaches from the fumes. We decided to replace the whole unit with a propane burner. It was faster and we could replace the lower ducts and insulation that was soaked in oil. I am over heating oil. Cost us 14 thousand dollars but at least I know it's done right. We still have the oil water heater but I would never trust you guys to service that one. It is only a few years old. I wrote them a letter, they said they did not know when it happened and it was our fault for not knowing sooner. In conclusion their service guy told me those O-rings go bad all the time, if that is the case why did they not replace it as part of the service. I would have never wrote this review, all I asked for was our service money back and an apology, I did not receive either one.
